Photos: Pres. Jonathan launches new national e-ID card in Abuja

President Jonathan today August 28th launched the new national e-ID card at the Villa in Abuja. The new e-ID card which is powered by MasterCard is a multi-purpose card for identification, electronic signatures, and can be used for depositing money, withdrawing and making payments. So it's both an ID card and ATM.

The first phase of the project will see 13million Nigerians issued the card while the next phase will target 100million Nigerians. The project is a partnership with MasterCard, the Nigerian National Identity Management Commission and Access bank. See more photos after the cut...

    2. Signs of end times
It started with the emetic ally engineered Ebola virus. They brought it to Nigeria. Maybe because Nigeria didn't want to partake in initialising such things that will later one desensitise the population in receiving the mark of the beast. Having a national identity card seems like technological development. So inserting a chip in your right arm might seem like nothing but an advancement in life. So the president has yielded now. All of a sudden Ebola has disappeared, now chop identity card.
      May God help us

  21. A national ID card is long overdue. This should be about the 3rd attempt, I hope it would be successful. Our francophone neighbours in africa have this well established and they use it to track crime, you can't move around in those countries without the national ID card as police men make impromptu checks.

  87. What a shame. This is "Giant of Africa's" 4th attempt at setting up a national ID card. Other attempts gulped up billions of Dollars. When can we stop all this fanfare and do simple things how much more more complex tasks. Shame on Goodluck, shame on Nigeria. A very simple process that require vital data and biometrics to be captured for all Nigerians. If this is done well this has far reaching capabilities and benefits i.e. To enforce credit, credible elections, crime control, immigration etc

WHY WOULD NIGERIA AND ITS GOVERNMENT BE SO FOOLISH. YOU ARE STILL COMMENDING THIS FOOLISH STEP AS A GOOD ONE? WHY CAN'T IT BE POWERED BY INTERSWITCH OR SOME LOCAL E-PAYMENT PROCESSOR? VERY FOOLISH MOVE.. I NO GO FOLLOW UNA USE THIS ID CARD. The idea is ok but foolish to have indirectly allowed america into nigerian's personal infos.

  98. I smell the Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) Chip being tactically and later to be forcefully introduced into our Economy. The Govt just has to be careful with the way it accepts some of these technologies. Those RFIDs are on our Phones,Computers,ATMs, and now they are bringing it into our National ID Cards, very soon, it will become compulsory, and there and then, it will dawn on us what is written in the Holy Book "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his nameHere is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.Recall that the CBN just introduced Bank Verification Number(BVN, which would soon take effect to be used on all your bank Accounts. We need to shine our eyes very well o. Don't be in a hurry to praise new innovation without using a magnifying lens to double check the pros and cons. That's al.
