The Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, revealed this today Monday August 4th and also said that eight people who had first degree contact with the Liberian have been quarantined and are under strict observation.
Now after attending to Sawyer, this doctor, unaware that he'd exposed himself to Ebola, would have gone home to give his wife a kiss and hugged his daughter/son. God help us. More details later...
This is very serious! God help us all. I'm out. ***CATCH ME IF U CAN***
ReplyDeleteI knew dat Liberian man had a mission. So he came here only for d purpose of distributing dis virus. God help my people in naija o...am so sad right now.

DeleteThis thing go don waka far! God help us. Awareness is the only way o...churches, mosques, media, telephone companies, internet companies spread the word.
Yes indeed. This is the worst case of this virus in history. Nigerians are acting like it's something that's happening far away. This pestilence is going to kill millions in our country. From schools to churches we are all in dire risk. The MoH has not released a comprehensive programme to educate people on how to take care. They are depending on Linda Ikeji to do their job for them. This killer is no respecter of age, tribe or bank balance. Just watch how getting a visa to travel abroad is going to prove virtually impossible. Even those hoping to travel to Nigeria will have issues coming back kpali or not.
DeleteOmg.. this virus is spreading already.. the doctor's family shd be checked.. even their friends and relatives.. nawao
ReplyDeleteSidechick alert!
DeleteNawoooo
ReplyDelete& his wife may hv gone to d market & spread it there & his kids to school to infect oda kids! Hope dis doesn't become a pandemic!

ReplyDeletewell may be according to prof maurice iwu,the prof of Pharmacology, the family of this Dr should start eating bitter kola and kolanut as normal meal regimen.its so heart touching, saving life and his life is not safe.
ReplyDeletetruly, God help us all.
ReplyDeleteLinda it is bloody nit wits like you that cause mass hysteria. The doctor in question has been quarantined which means he would not have had the opportunity to be kissing and hugging anyone. Get educated and stop this nonsense. You have a moral duty to pass on accurate info instead of fueling the fire of panic amongst our populace.
ReplyDeleteActually quarantine started after almost 3days of being in contact with the patient. You get your facts right. The good news however is until the patient is symptomatic, he is not very infective so hopefully when he had contact with his family he likely did not spread the disease. Assuming he was quarantined early enough.
DeleteHonestly, I think linda shld take a chill pill nd slow down a bit with certain info nd how she passes them. Her headlines sef na die,may God in heaven forgive us nd raise us above Ebola(amin)

ReplyDeleteGod please save us from this dreadful virus oh.

ReplyDeleteHe didn't get to calabar
DeleteThis is just so sad on every level. First this Sawyer man would always be talked about as the first person to bring this deadly disease to our country. Secondly the doctors would have had contact with their family members, hospital patients. Etc. And that's how it will continue to spread. This is really sad and scary.
ReplyDeleteGod help us o. Which kind wahala this liberian man come carry come this our country? We neva fit deal with boko haram na ebola we wan deal with? I cover myself and family with the blood of jesus Christ.

ReplyDeleteDear Linda, his wife and kids MAY not have it yet if he's not yet symptomatic. You've refused to post the info below but i'll keep trying
ReplyDeleteUS STATE DEPARTMENT EBOLA ALERT
In order to help our Embassy Community better understand some of the key points about the Ebola virus we have consulted with our medical specialists at the U S State Department and assembled this list of bullet points worded in plain language for easy comprehension. Our medical specialists remind everyone that they should be following the guideline from the center for Disease Control and the World Health Organisation.
• The suspected reservoirs for Ebola are fruit bats.
• Transmission to humans is thought to originate from infected bats or primates that have become infected by bats.
• Undercooked infected bat and primate (bush) meat transmits the virus to humans.
• Human to human transmission is only achieved by physical contact with a person who is acutely and gravely ill from the Ebola virus or their body fluids.
• Transmission among humans is almost exclusively among caregiver family members or health care workers tending to the very ill.
• The virus is easily killed by contact with soap, bleach, sunlight, or drying. A washing machine will kill the virus in clothing saturated with infected body fluids.
• A person can incubate the virus without symptoms for 2-21 days, the average being 5-8 days before becoming ill. THEY ARE NOT CONTAGIOUS until they are acutely ill.
• Only when ill does the viral load express itself first in the blood and then in other bodily fluids (to include vomit, feces, urine, breast milk, semen and sweat).
• If you are walking around you are not infectious to others.
• There are documented cases from Kikwit, DRC of an Ebola outbreak in a village that had the custom of children never touching an ill adult. Children living for days in small one room huts with parents who died from Ebola did not become infected.
• You cannot contract Ebola by handling money, buying local bread or swimming in a pool.
• There is no medical reason to stop flights, close borders, restrict travel or close embassies, businesses or schools.
• As always practice good hand washing techniques, but you will not contract Ebola if you do not touch a dying person.
• US EMBASSY
Please share this information with your friends and families and try not to spread panic on social media.
Thanks
Thanks Gabz.

ReplyDeleteSawyerr was sick when he attended to him. The man was not sick when he got home. Can only get ebola when the victiims have become gravely ill or from their corpses...
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time commenting here though I ve been very active in viewing this site. My problem with nigeria as a country is our carelessness n lackadaisical attitudes towards matters as important as this dreaded ebola Disease, hw can we be so loose in this country? No precautions taken, we just let infected person into our shores knowing hw deadly n incurable it is.? Our leaders n every body in Nigeria seem to be very sentimental. N it disturbs me deeply, is it wen we all die from this infection, thats wen they will act with common sense? It beats me hw we play over everything in this country. GOD PLS SAVE US ALL FROM THIS DANGER.OR BETTER STILL COME IF UR TIME HAS REACHED.BIKONU.
ReplyDeleteHeheheeeehhheee Chineke nna biko kwa, we dey ur hand!!!

ReplyDeletesee the rubbished he has put an innocent doctor through. Its not just the doctor that's infected, i guess the flight crew that attended to him when he was having diarrhoea on board. so so sad.
After years in medical sch and ambition. one useless dead man ruined everything for the doctor.
Linda weda you post my comment or not i dont care.
JESUS!!! Patrick Sawyer how could u do this to Nigeria??? Heavenly father come to our aid o
ReplyDeleteLinda, it does not matter if he went home and kissed his wife, as long as he was not showing symptoms. Ebola can only be contacted from a very ill ebola patient. It can kill when the body fluid of an ill patient goes into the blood stream of either through the mouth, nose, eyes, ears or broken skin. That is why the highest casualties are among health workers. People should make sure they wash their hands very well and avoid touching the eyes, ears, mouth or putting their hands in their nostrils. Wounds should be covered promptly to avoid infection from the skin.
ReplyDeleteHe kissed his wife and hugged his son or daughter doesn't mean they contacted the virus too..I heard it can only be contacted when the victim is about to die, when he is at the last stage
ReplyDeleteNow dis is nt getting funny! Am so scared. God save us all.

ReplyDeleteCasala don burst. Ebola don enter town. See hazard of job o! What will happen now? The American doctor who tested positive to Ebola in one of those countries is still battling for his life. I think he has been transferred to the U.S. No more shaking of hands for The Peace and drinking from that one holy communion cup in church. You wash your hands, you go back to touch that same door knob, etc.Let's see how the survival will be .....But I love my family members......What can one do? Hope!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDONT LET FEAR RULE YOU, BUT UNDERSTAND FROM WISDOM WHAT EBOLA IS AND BE INFORMED. EBOLA DOES NOT BECOME CONTAGIOUS UNTIL THE AFFECTED PERSON BECOMES SYMPTOMATIC.......HIGH FEVER, HEADACHES,RASHES...ETC
ReplyDeleteEVEN THEN IT CAN ONLY BE TRANSFERRED BY BODILY FLUIDS, SEMEN, BLOOD, SWEAT...ETC
dont be saying shit like kissing his wife, the thing isnt contagious during the early stages, dont be scaring people for no reason
ReplyDeleteHAAAAA, JESUS CHRIST
ReplyDeleteOl boy! This shit is fucking dangerous...jesus christ
ReplyDeleteBig ups to all the doctors in the world; who are working so hard to find solutions to the disease and are keeping us healthy, thereby putting themselves in harms way. #Heros

ReplyDeletePls readers don't panic. †ђξ doc cannot transmit †ђξ virus yet until he starts acutely manifesting its symptoms. And since he's being quarantined b4 manifesting †ђξ symptoms, there is very little to NO chance of him passing it to others. Am mostly concerned abt †ђξ oda pple †ђξ Sawyder man(or Ѿhɑ̤̥̈̊†̥̥ he calls himsef) has come in contact(primary contact) with particularly at Calabar as it seems dey Α̲̅я̩̥̊ε̲̣̣̣̥ managing Lagos case(s) proper but no attention has being given to dat part of †ђξ country where he made his 1st drop.
ReplyDelete#PeaceUntoYou
This man will not rest in peace! Patrick Sawyer your soul would not rest in peace! For this calamity you have brought upon a country that did nothing to you, rest would not be your portion, your soul would wander in pieces! This man clearly was aware that he had Ebola and he collapsed on that plane and I say this because I was a witness at the airport that day.He collapsed on that fucken flight! he was sick with Ebola and he knew because his elder sister had died two months prior to that.My heart is crying because this dead idiot is going to plunge a whole country into an epidemic of unfathomable catastrophe! Chai!!! You will not rest in peace ooo, lia lia, your whole family would be finished by Ebola.I blame our useless immigration authorities too, they are insane and they would be at the receiving end of this Ebola and not us.Agent of darkness and death,YOU WILL NOT REST FOREVER.
ReplyDeleteOk. They say it can only be contracted if the person is gravely ill. We are religious people. Gravely ill people end up in churches, receiving prayers and drinking from the Holy Communion cup for divine healing. Some of these gravely ill can walk, I assume, if not so, there would be no reason whatsoever for those who had contact with the man in the airplane before he collapsed at the airport to be tested for the next one month. Unless I am told that those who shook hands with and had body contact with him in the plane when he maybe was looking hale and hearty have nothing to worry about, I will take it that the risks are a bit more than what is written down.
ReplyDeleteWONT SPREAD TILL HE STARTS SHOWING SYMPTOMS
ReplyDeleteGod punish devil
ReplyDelete@Bonita Islam, you always make sensible comments but this one today is quite senseless. As quick as this virus is spreading, you still wish for it on fellow Nigerians. And its silver or gold have i none not 'not'.

ReplyDeletethis is the sign of end time ,we must be very careful of that so ever we are doin

ReplyDeleteI read somewhere that the disease cannot be contracted until the person is acutely heal or start showing symptoms.so I hope d man came to d hospital immediately he noticed something. He wouldn't want to jeopardize d life of his family member. They r about two with the symptoms as I heard last wk
ReplyDeleteyou are right he went home kissed his wife etc, but be careful not to cause people to panic as the disease cannot be transmitted until the individual is acutely ill. Therefore he probably didn't infect his family
