Ebola: Fmr President Obasanjo expresses thoughts on late Sawyer

Former president Obasanjo has expressed his thoughts on Sawyer, his act and those who made it possible for him to enter Nigeria with the disease and spread it. Speaking at an event held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun state today, Obasanjo said;
"It is devilish enough Patrick Sawyer had to spread this and indeed spread it to Nigeria in connivance with some Liberian authorities from his country, because they knew he had it before he came to Nigeria. The EVD has started to take its toll on the country and the West African sub region. The toll is not only on the number of those who are ill or dead but on the communities, countries, regions and sub-region"

  4. I think it's high time we stopped calling out Patrick Sawyer cos he is just like the selfish diplomat who excaped quarantine, and the doctor who treated him secretly.

    1. That story sounds very incomplete. I've tried my best to connect the dots and put two and two together from all their insufficient news and bits and pieces. It sounds as if that "diplomat" was actually not a diplomat but the head of liaison for ecowas commission office in Lagos and was the one who wrote a letter and gave to Patrick Sawyer for treatment in Lagos. Apparently, he was tested and cleared in Lagos before he went to ph(not sure how true that is). He developed fever symptoms in ph and got a doctor to treat him.( the doctor might not have had any idea that he had Ebola or that he was even from Lagos and had contact with Sawyer) he responded well to the treatment and overcame the virus but the doctor caught it and died but not before he passed it on to his wife, colleague, and possibly others. Oluibukun Koye probably quickly ran to ph to avoid contracting the virus then was in denial when he started getting symptoms and was holding on to the fact that he was given an all-clear in Lagos before leaving. And the doctor might not have had any idea because they were aaaall the way in port harcourt and not Lagos where the infected contacts were.

    2. I wish these people will just give us a clear picture instead of allowing us to guess. I think they are releasing incomplete news because if they gave us the full picture, it will expose how they've been lax about all this and how someone with the virus was given an all-clear and allowed to travel. Remember how that nurse, even though she had primary contact with Sawyer was still allowed to go home and her fiancé was the one who brought her to the hospital after she fell really sick. And he also was allowed to go back and forth even though she threw up on him and he clean her up etc while she was in the hospital. If he too had ran to another state, that would have been another problem for the country.

    2. I am not a fan of Obasanjo, but in my little knowledge, I think three years is more than enough to fix the health care system.

I mean, Obasanjo destroyed our health care system, but Jonathan is been president for over three years now, what stops him from fixing the health care system? ???

These our politicians are the same. I pity all you APC and PDP voltrons on LIB, I pray that God restores your sense of reasoning, so you can understand that these politicians do not care about us in any way.

Just to remind y'll that 2015 is around the corner. Before you sell your votes cheaply, pause for a second and imagine what it would feel like to see Boko Haram no more, think about the future of your children yet unborn and remember that your VOTE is your power to CHANGE NIGERIA for the better, please use it wisely.

Obasanjo left office a long time ago not yesterday. If anyone is responsible for the health sector, it's Goodluck and his ministers.

    9. Please be informed. Obj did not destroy our health system. I can remember vividly the turn around he gave to the University College Hospital when he was in power. Please be guided.

    10. I really don't agree with your assertion. See,we can keep blaming our leaders for everything because it is easy to do so but the best any health system can do is to identify and quarantine possible suspects which is what Nigeria is doing.at the moment. The best we can do is to support the govt.and medical professionals in fighting this scourge.

  20. ok... so this is a serious comment. I hope Linda can find a way to get this out there.
Just like OBJ is implying, Liberia as a country and its officials are actually supposed to be held responsible by our Government for allowing a known carrier of the Ebola disease to fly into another country (Nigeria).
According to Wikipedia, and i quote '''Given the lethal nature of Ebola, and since no approved vaccine or treatment is available, it is classified as a bio-safety level 4 agent, as well as a Category A bio-terrorism agent by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It has the potential to be weaponized for use in biological warfare.''

This disease is classified as a biological weapon!!! If indeed, these Liberians knowingly allowed Patrick sawyer to come into this country with Ebola, then ladies and gentlemen, THAT IS AN ACT OF WAR!!!
Unfortunately our government doesn't even realize this. I am not saying we should start a war, but if our government starts to address this matter in cross country conflict manner, then we would get more attention from the US and the world governing health organizations.
Think about this, The American Doctors are all alive, Dr. Adadevoh is dead. May her soul rest in peace.

  25. Blame Nigerian authorities as well. We knew there was a virus in the region, we did not prepare. Now we are fire fighting. China are prepared even though it has not come anywhere them. Be keeping our funds for 2015. May God battle the past and present corrupt leaders.

  45. I feel sorry 4 most of us here. We all pretend to b saints and yet sin 100 times a day and we all pray and want God Almighty to forgive our sins and transgression, yet we cannot forgive one sin(whether Sawyer did Ѿhɑ̤̥̈̊†̥̥ he did knowingly or unknowlingly) patrick committed. I wonder Ѿhɑ̤̥̈̊†̥̥ †ђξ world would hv looked at if humans Α̲̅я̩̥̊ε̲̣̣̣̥ God or if God listens to some of our wicked prayers. Anyone of us who hasn't forgiven Sawyer yet for Ѿhɑ̤̥̈̊†̥̥ he did to Nigerians(whether U̶̲̥̅̊ hv lost any person tru Ebola or not) is as heartless n inhumane as Ѿhɑ̤̥̈̊†̥̥ we make him(Sawyer) to b. We come to dis blog and shout "God save us, God help us, God do dis, God do dat", yet we can't play our own role by simply forgiving. Please my brethren, LEARN TO FORGIVE no matter how painful n pray God 4give him too and grant him rest.
    God bless us all
