Armed standoff between Nigerian police & NSCDC officers caught on tape

In the above video, Nigerian Civil Defense and Police force members can be seen engaged in a power struggle, one which escalates as members of both sides draw guns. Occurring in full view of a people, the fight threatens to take a deadly detour at many points.

The release of the video is the next installment in the brewing conflict between the Civil Defense and the police, after the Civil Defense had accused a member of the police force of threatening to shoot Commandant-General Abe Abolurin during an anti-vandalism inspection in Lagos on Friday. Both the police and the Civil Defense officials tussled for control of the site, as can be seen, with an officer intent on barring access of Civil Defense agents to the area.

  24. The NSCDC shouldnt have been allowed to carry arms. We already have too many lawless imbeciles running around cloaked in Police Uniforms and all what not. These NSCDC senile lot will cause us more pain than even the police. It's time to withdraw arms from them. We dont even knw what the retards do save for protect pipelines and transformers. They have no defined roles. WTF???!!!

  38. Am not being one-sided here but I think d fault would come from the police. The Police had at one time fought with dis ppl at Ilorin too somtime last year. The police is so jealous of the attention d NSCDC is getin from d govt. They ar fast losin thr ground in the country securitywise, based on thr high level of corruption and other mannerless behaviours.
And Linda, it is Civil defence, not civil defense

  40. The Nigerian police force is the MOST undisciplined arm of government, their resolve to constantly use force where intelligence is required beats my imagination. I'm personally compiling a catalogue of videos and photos of the escaped of this shameful arm of government and would take it to any length till they become more responsible. Its either the shoot one okada man today or harase one pregnant woman tomorrow or wrongfully accuse somebody to extort money from them, they've never shown intelligence or conducted themselves appropriately at any point. Its so shameful

  49. Linda, i dont think you are correct. It is the MOPOL that drew their guns. NSCDC do not carry arms. That why the MOPOL could beat up the NSCDC guy even though he was outnumbered. You can see that soldiers had to intervene.

  51. why do we keep having confrontations btw de the security outfits especially when it has to do with pipeline theft. As we speak, oil coys and govt still continues to assign this duty to other sister agencies. There should be a clearly spelt out definition of what both agencies duty are, especially as it has to do with pipeline protection.

  62. How can a society which is backward in its thought processes produce the right kind of thoughtful uniformed men overnight? Till the chickens come home to roost, this endemic problem in my country will continue to be a daily occurrence. Lawlessness amongst those who are charged with upholding the law!
