The governor gave the directive when he paid a visit to the troubled local government area, plagued with cult activities, where residents are said to be living in constant fear.
The governor inaugurated an Anti-Cult Task Force, which comprises of the Army, Police, SSS and the Imo Security Network, and gave them an order to shoot cult members at sight. The anti-cult task force will be deployed to troubled areas in the state to search for and move into cultists’ dens as part of measures to improve security situation in the State.
choi! harsh but acceptable. just hope it doesn't get outta hand
ReplyDeleteTrue harsh but accepted.. Cultist are like armed robbers and assasins. They have no mercy and would kill anyone who dares stop them.
DeleteAm more interested in d name of d cults...wht of Day-Break & Day-Dark..
DeleteThe rate of cultism is alarming here in imo, just d other day during a meeting wit students and management, a boy narrated how he was forcefully initiated by another guy, even though the guy was caught, his life is still in danger..itz a welcomed development , buh we know how nigerian armed forces act na, they will start misbehaving, I suggest d use rubber bullets ooo..
DeleteHmmmm, a. Suspects assumes innocent until tried in d court of law. Therefore, use rubber bullet to get them arrested and tried them before final judgment.
DeleteGod bless you! The armed forces will use this as an opportunity to kill people recklessly!... This will only help unjust extrajudicial killings in d state knowing how trigger happy and useless our armed forces are! Linda post my comment oh! And can you make a post on police and their illegal check points in Lagos Linda? Luv you!
DeleteAnd who gave him the right to?? I just laugh at him. Cus UN wud just be on his ass in no time. Dumbass governor!
DeleteGivin shoot on sight order 2 d nigerian police s lyk askin 4 evry 1 2 b killed...The Architect
DeleteΑѕ much αѕ i dislike blood shed, i think i buy this idea. With this our higher institutions will be a safer place even for the younger generation. Cos this guys end up being used by useless politicians. good one Owelle!
DeleteSlaves of d devil. I will be cool if people start calling me 'LIB Princess' pretex4luv@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteAll I know is that a lot of innocent people are going to get killed.
DeleteWay too harsh. Abuse of power if u ask me. A person remains a suspect until proven guilty only then can you decide what approach of punishment to take. What if you shoot on sight only to realise the person was innocent. Rochas should face other pressing matters in Imo including poor road networks, unemployment and untidy environment to mention a few. prettyprecious0018@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteIt depends on whether it's "shoot to kill or to maim".. If it's to kill, hmmm..too harsh..
DeleteThey should also consider using rubber bullets.
*My R1.50c comment*
Hmmm! Dats serious.....de shud not go abt shooting innocent pple oh!

ReplyDeleteVery good idea....
ReplyDeleteI am in support if they try to escape or run, but if they surrender, they shouldn't shoot, they should be taking into custody, the rule of law should be followed
ReplyDeleteYour comment will be visible after approval
I approve. Anything to secure the lives n property of the masses. Good job!!
ReplyDeleteI he is trying to sanitize Imo state but the rule of law should be applied, Someone should be tried and convicted for a crime he/she is alleged for. I know Nigerian Police, with this order they will even shoot a pregnant woman and tag her a cultist. People should talk to sense Rochas
ReplyDeleteVillage champions will always be village champions, Day gbam and day well names of cult lol

ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you, thats a harsh order/law, i personally dont agree with instant justice. Am not trying to justify what these cultists do but hey isnt any other alternate in handling them than shooting them?
ReplyDeleteAhorlu Gloria
Linda u dey laff abi for ur info deygbam and deywell were two prominent and strong group that almost ruined portHarcourt from borokiri to diobu they held reign supreme until the police dislodged them.
ReplyDeleteso if the governor of imo state says shoot at sight it is shoot sight it is a welcome development only the innocent would get claimed in this war and a lot of people will b setup security forces need to be careful and investigate

ReplyDeletetoo harsh..shoot at sight for wat..ar they BH?......................................#KingOfKings
ReplyDeleteHow wud dey verify if d person is a cultist? Won't dis lead to anarchy? Anybody can jst see an area looking boy, says es a cultist nd shoot! Muchless, since wen do governors start ordering d police?
ReplyDeleteFool governors r d chief security officer of a state, so dey have right to make laws and give orders to security agents under d state. U dig.
DeleteMontana
Think its harsh how do you identify a cultist?
ReplyDeleteCooldavoe@yahoo.com
I know he is trying to sanitize the state but the rule of law should be applied. A person should be tried an for a crime he/she is alleged for, if found guilty, proper sanction should be administered. Giving such order will cause more harm than good. I know Nigerian Police, with this order they might shoot a pregnant woman and tag her cultist. Someone should talk sense into his head.
ReplyDeleteMr man thats too harsh, dont you have fear of GOD
ReplyDeletedanskila1@gmail.com
NOT GOOD@ALL.THATS THE SAME JUNGLE JUSTICE WE ARE SPEAKING AGAINST.

ReplyDeleteThey will end up shooting the wrong people. This is jungle justice.
ReplyDeleteIts not a gud idea, the innocent might fall a victim
ReplyDeleteNow they will start Killing innocent citizens, why shoot at sight? Why not capture them and interview them so we can get more useful informations from them ?or do they also stronger weapons than our military? These are questions okorocha needs to answer.
ReplyDeleteGbam!!!
ReplyDeleteNot too good, they should be very careful, or they might shoot an innocent person.
ReplyDeleteAlthough its a bit harsh 4 him giving such orders, that's about the only way 2 curb this menace as the cultists would b scared of the law cuz now its in a direct treat to their lives else the incident dat just happened will only b d beginning Governor Rochas Okorocha is an intelligent man, nice move.

ReplyDeleteGov.don't slack at all, fire for fire, this is how Boko Haram started. But my fear,I hope this will not turn into witch hunting perceived enemies or political enemies.
ReplyDeleteGovernor Rochas Okorocha shoot-at-sight order for cultists (or ANYONE) in Imo state is the most bizarre, idiotic and myopic statement of the month. BUNKERS. Is he calling for JUNGLE JUSTICE? Is he calling for EXTRAJUDICIAL PUNISHMENT? Is Rochas Okorocha calling for EXTRAJUDICIAL KILLING? How about the RULE OF LAW? Are there no JUDICIARY in Imo State? Does Nigeria not have a CONSTITUTION? How did a stupid and ignorant man get elected as a State Governor? Rochas Okorocha, how about if someone was wrongly accused? How about a shoot-at-sight justice for corrupt politicians? How about a shoot-at-sight justice for moronic politicians? Rochas Okorocha, for your information, this is 2014, not 1914. In a civilised society, victims, criminals and none criminals have rights. In a civilised society where there is rule of law, if someone breaks the law, they are arraigned before a court of law, not unlawfully deprived of their Human Rights and not unlawfully deprived of their right to a fair trial. In Nigeria, when intellectually challenged, but devious and crafty politicians are looting the treasury and impoverishing the masses, they intentionally make bizarre and alarming statements and divert public attention and occupy the public's mind in foolishness and frivolous debates, while they are enriching themselves and stashing their loots in PROPERTIES IN EUROPE, SOUTH AFRICA AND AMERICA and truckloads of £££s, €€€s & $$$s in OFFSHORE TRUSTS. Pathethic.
ReplyDeleteThis will go a long way to curtail cultist activities.
ReplyDeleteDats 2oo harsh buh may b he dsnt rlly mean 2 shoot nd kill.
ReplyDeleteApproved... ndi nsusu Lekwa the nonsense name... gov please Imsu, nekede, futo etc cultists nt exempted

Am in support of Gov. Rochas. I grew up in PH and I know about this group...very wicked group. we lived in constant fear those days
ReplyDeleteIf its up to me,i will pull the trigger myself,my brother lost his gf to these animals 5 yrs back, will never forget the devastation he went through,
ReplyDeleteThe group can be likened to boko haram, they even go as far as beheading some of their victims, people living in Port harcourt can attest to this, they are bruttal to the core
ReplyDeleteGbam, na wetin good be that, we no want BOKO for our state abeg.
ReplyDelete†o dis cultist deserve no mercy jawe buh make dem use rubber bullet first sha

ReplyDeleteFolks don't think killing is wrong, a world where we are legislating killing, wow. So what is essence of police and military training, is it to shoot alone or they don't learn other techniques to take down suspects

ReplyDeleteGood.
ReplyDeleteJungle justice...never justified.
ReplyDeleteCan we tackle the issue of cultism in Nigeria? Is it preventable?
Unemployment? Family? Society? Personal choice?
Nigeria.
Rochas has clearly shown he is unfit to hold any public post. How can he sanction extrajudicial killing? So with all the security arms available to him, he cannot conduct investigations and carry out raids of confirmed cultists lair? Innocent people will get caught in the crossfire, what a shame.
ReplyDeleteUseless Gov,he shud not forget that ogboni is a cult too,and shud be shot on sight too....kettle callin pot black
