Abuja hotels to submit list of guests to DSS, police daily

Following recent attacks by Boko Haram men on the nation's capital, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed, yesterday issued a statement directing all hotels in Abuja to henceforth submit the list of guests in their hotels on a daily basis to the FCT Directorate of Department of State Security as well as the FCT Police command.

The statement which was signed by the Minister's special assistant, Media, Nosike Ogbuenyi, advised residents of Abuja to embark on operation 'know your neighbor' campaign for early identification of strange faces within their neighborhood.

The statement directed all traditional rulers in the FCT to conduct periodic meetings with all the communities within their domain so that they can take stock of the people in their area and report strange faces, if any, to the Police. Continue...

The statement also directed that trucks/ lorries bringing goods into the FCT must now offload their contents during the day and not at night anymore. The Minister in the statement said legal actions would be taken on owners of uncompleted buildings in Abuja whose buildings may have been converted to criminal hideouts.

  31. When it happens in Abuja it is a national issue, but it has being on for more than 5 years and only now have they really paid attention! Because they have being struck in the heart and our Lords now know that the bombers are at their doorsteps, they are no longer as safe as they thought.

  38. Not necessary... I tell you this is nonsense it wouldn't solve anything people give fake names all the time.. The only way is for them to keep there Security cameras intact 24/7 and if Police needed to carryout any investigations they can check the recorders... We still very much backward in this country..

  40. Nigerians should start doing things in the Right way. Everybody should have proper PHOTO IDENTIFICATION and have it with you at all TIMES in case you are asked to identify yourself. There should be proper REGISTRATION of VEHICLES on our Roads The Federal Road Safety Boss have good plans we should encourage Him for our own safety. For example the vehicles used by these terrorist cannot be traced to anybody and this makes investigation difficult and takes for ever. Hotel guests/ new tenants should be asked for PHOTO IDENTIFICATION which should be photocopied.

  42. Making this news has defeated the purpose of this strategy. Now they know they either avoid lodging in hotels or give fake names. Naija security! Always getting it wrong midway.

  44. Why not have CCTV camera in every part of the country powered with solar panels, it does have night vision aswell with this you can watch everybody's movements comfortably.

  53. Beautiful, but what about other places these bombs go off everyday. There is more outcry and more safety measures when it happens in Abuja. About the lives there are more Precious? This should be done everywhere

  54. in a country without a nationalized ID.. this means nothing. Many nigerians can generate fake ID and use it to book hotel.
they need to get serious about national identification including finger prints or something. That way, it becomes difficult to get fake govt. ID and that will be the form of getting things such as hotels if they'll require submission of names.
sometimes, u wonder if this ppl think things thru
