Photos: 8 months pregnant Olympian runs 800m race

28 year old Olympian and five-time U.S. national champion Alysia Montano ran an 800m race at the Hornet Stadium in Sacramento, California, yesterday and people are now questioning if it's safe.

Alysia received a standing ovation after completing the race in 2 minutes, 32.13 seconds, 35 seconds slower than her personal best of 1:57.34, which she smashed back in 2010 in a race in Monaco.
"I've been running throughout my pregnancy and I felt really, really good during the whole process.' Alysia said after the race...
Doctors gave her the OK to run but isn't this too rigorous for a woman so pregnant? See more photos after the cut...

    2. What the fuck. What stupid OK from the Doctors. It's never ok for a woman to run that hard with a mature pregnancy. Once pregnancy is off the first trimester, a woman really need to be extra careful and conscious of what she does. This is a NO NO.

    3. You just know lazy pregnant women. You should stay fit during pregnancy to avoid big babies, stressful delivery, baby fat, e.t.c

  16. It's only in Nigeria you people make pregnant women seen handicap. If she was very athletic before the pregnancy then there's absolutely nothing wrong with her running during pregnancy.

    1. You have no full sense of what you are saying. It is never OK for a woman outside the first trimester to engage in nerves pulling exercises or what so ever. This act could cause her taints and overdue contractions after birth. Infact the baby could be deform as a result of this.

  19. SHORT STORY:
A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealers showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his
graduation, his father called him into his private study, told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and how much he loved him. He handed him a beautifully wrapped gift box.
Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with his name embossed in gold. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said,"With all your money you give me a Bible?" He stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible behind.
Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and wonderful family, but realized his father was very old. He thought perhaps he should go to him.He had not seen him since that graduation day.
But before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to him. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.
When he arrived at his father's house, sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important documents
and saw the Bible, new, just as he had left it years ago.
With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. His father had carefully underlined a verse, Matt 7:11, "And if ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Heavenly Father which is in Heaven, give to those who ask Him?" As he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealers name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words...PAID IN FULL.

Just think about it, how many times have we missed God's blessings just because they are not packaged as we expected? Be thankful and praise His name no matter what comes your way. His ways are different from ours.

  38. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT FOR AN OLYMPIAN. SHE IS IN SHAPE AND VERY FIT. PREGNANCY, LIKE MENSURATION, IS NOT A SICKNESS OR DISABILITY. IF HER SPORTS DOCS CERTIFIED HER, THEN SHE'S GOOD TO GO. THIS IS THE RESULT OF YEARS OF ENDLESS PRACTICE AND GYM-ING. WHY DO U THINK THE UNITED STATES PACK ALL GOLD MEDALS WHENEVA THERE IS OLYMPIC GAMES? U DUNT GET THAT BY SITTING ON UR BUTT FOR 4YEARS, NAAH. IT'S HARDWORK ALL THE WAY. DATS WHY U SEE SOME OF THEIR MUSICIANS DANCING WHILE PREGNANT, COS THEY KEEP FIT, FOR THEIR SHAPE AND CAREER! NOT WE NIGERIANS WHO COME SLEEPY TO OLYMPIC GAMES. AM SO SURE THIS LADY WILL STILL WIN A MEDAL IF SHE GOES IN THIS STATE TO A COMPETITION. 800M IN 3MINS? NOT BEANS!! TRY AM!

  51. Doctors usually advice against rigorous exercise in the 3rd trimester. But if you have been an active person all your life prior to preggy, you can continue that way even in preggy. No shaking.

  52. She is as fit as fiddle, "Ride On"with training from 1-8 months, her body and baby is use to it.
Kaffy our own award winning dancer, danced rigorously at one project fame season..... I was @ home shouting and watching and enjoying her entertaining steps.
I then tried dancing at 7 months pregnancy, on our Graduation Thanksgiving service.
