Igbo tenants only pay the 1st two years n stop paying. I will never make that mistake again. I will only rent to Lagos raised igbos , no more village stocks
How do you know that the Yoruba hating girl is Igbo?
I've noticed this so many times. Whenever an anonymous person makes an uncomplimentary remark about Yoruba's, they automatically assume the person is Igbo.
Linda, tribalism and racism are two different things. In tribalism, you prefer your fellow ethnic person over someone from another ethnic group. While in racism, you look down on another race. You feel you are too superior to anybody who's not from your race.
Sterling did what he did because he feels that black people are inferior to the whites, he considered himself far more superior to blacks and felt it would be condescending to have blacks in his game.
Though the two vices are starkly different, both are wrong and should be discouraged.
To an extent, yes. Some Nigerians are so tribalistic to the bone. They would never marry outside their tribe for anything, this is so sad. Cool LIBers follow @cindieajayie on twitter and ama follow back As Soon As Possible...xoxo
Yes Linda he is 101% right. We are so bad even within the major tribes. In Ibo tribe, Anambra man will never marry from Imo or any other state. Their tribalism and illiteracy know no bound.
When u say Anambra ppl prefer to marry their own than others I agree 100%, but when u associate Anambra with illiteracy then u know nothing about Anambra ppl. Most of the ppl that made the Igbo race to stand out in Academics, Business, and many other professions are Anambra ppl. That's the truth u can't deny no matter how hard u try.
Without mincing words,Ali Baba is on point,a good percentage of us are relatively tribalistic,we have come to a point were we do this consciously and unconsciously, more so i know some good christian folks, spirit filled and all,who would not allow themselves to date(let alone marry)anyone that is not of the same tribe, they are already programmed by Daddy and mummy to think, reason and breathe in this way.Tribalism is somewhat second nature in naija, though we have many wonderful exceptions,to this unconscious rule,my folks are from different tribal backgrounds, and i towed the same line, enjoying every bit of it.
Dunno about others, yes I am!!!!!!! Yes I said it! Wen it comes to yorubam, cnt be caught dead wit a yoruba man. So loud, mouth odour, dirty..wit d tribal mark ka ndi lion gara mbo.... Eeeeww! Oya start insulting! Akwum gidigbaa. No shaking... Hehehe.
I guess your step mom raised you with hatred cos I can see that you lacked parental love.... I'm so sorry for your lost. Lifeless poorest bitch I've ever known

Linda,Nigeria is a very tribalisiic nation.Let me ask you Linda would you agree to Marry an Hausa man???I don't tink u will ever wanna marry even a northerner. So 90 percent of Nigerians and tribalistic.
Are we a "tribalistic" nation? Yes we are. But a tribalist is completely different from being a racist . they are both form of prejudice, but tribalism is about a difference in culture and heritage , while racism sees other human race as less than human - animals to be precise. so on this note i totaly disagree with Alibaba on this.
This is very true. Especially in LAGOS yoruba landlords will say they don't want Igbo tenants. My neighbour had to change her name to Funmi just to secure accommodation whereas, her real name is Ngozi........
yes certainly we re a tribalistic nation, so is alibaba, and so are you Lin Lin Eg at your desire for a typical Nigeria igbo guy for a hubby. and its not a bad thing. we should just knw when to put sentiments aside when the real issues come up. Donald sterlings still insulting magic johnson, what has he done for the black people, sleeps with every girl in Los Angeles and has Aids,i think he should be ashamed of himself, the man is old and suffering from dementia, back to the matter, ,Nigerians are all racists..
Yes, we are, I'm igbo from enugu to be precise n my parents don't wnt me to marry outside my state...dey complain about my yoruba friends....buh frankly, I dnt mind getting married to a Yoruba guy.. Currently dating one...:D
YES, YES, YES I am sick of the tribalistic comments, and politics. Damn we blacks are more racist than whites. We so hate each other, that it is pathetic. Even with Nigeria going to the dogs, people on these blogs continue to spew hate and bigotry. How can anyone like nigerians when we hate ourselves. I will always love my people, whether, they are hausa, igbo, yoruba, efik, esan, ijaw etc. We are all nigerians. One love one Nigeria. proudly naija!!!
May be this dude just didnt get the picture of what sterling did, he insulted a race.. Ok to show i love a tribe or race i have to date them ryt... . . . ***CURRENTLY IN JUPITER***
but we are...a very tribalistic one...and whats worse, weve even got to our inter-tribal hatred, an intra-tribal one... the anambra man hates the Imo one, the ijebu people arent liked by other yorubas..i could go on and on you know
i absolutely agree because a silly landlady in Maryland Lagos told my husband she cant accept him because he is Igbo! Shame on you lady because we were challenged by your actions and we live in our own house now! *tongue out*
yeah alibaba truly...over here in Nigeria its worst between black people hating dem selves...hausa hates every other ngerians ,Igbos dont wanna marry calabar...or yoruba hates igbo with passion because they are business oriented...in lagos..some girls go for their tribal people in marriage they dont care ofthe love is there or not...shame to we nigerians..we hate ourselves
hahahaha, well,he may be right, for instance i personally hate Hausas cos of their animalistic behavior i.e boko haram, not all hausas anyway and i cant marry an igbo girl due to our cultural differences which may reflect in our relationship but that doesnt mean i hate igbos....am not a racist though....But in the case of sterling i guess it was more of the white colour superiority...
Of course we are!! Very disgusting. Linda u should know... Tribalistic comments are written on your blog everyday and you post it. we are our own enemies.
I totally agree with him o..... I once had a girl who said her parents won't allow her marry me cos I am not pure Igbo (meanwhile I am from Asaba, the igbo speaking part of delta state)
Nigerians are really tribalistic! Am from ogun state nd married to an Igbo man. 10yrs nd still growing very strong. We live in the Uk nd I don't need to mention what tribe Iyou see most here. In my children s school they won't even come close to me as such cos of my children nd their Igbo names. Nd of course my married name. The few Pple that got to know that am Yoruba were shocked nd asked why I married an Igbo man ! Close friends hve told me several times dt he would end up marrying an Igbo woman, but the truth is that I don't really mind, I pray it doesn't happen but if it does I would just hve to swallow the bitter pill.lol I hve said it b4 nd would say it again I would marry an Igbo man again and again. My kids don't lack nothing , he is always there for my me nd my children and I wld lay my life down for him. In every part of the world, there are the Gud, the bad, nd the ugly.

Yes we are. And it's a damn shame. Linda you cannot seriously be asking this question. Have you taking time to read the comments in most of your posts?
Yes we are!!Especially that wilheminna moses dat insults yoruba ppl evry time wt her comments, she must b from a broken home, cos she behaves like one who lacked love while growing up
This shouldn't even be a question.. Nigeria is a tribalistic country.. And we are worse than racists.. Personally, igbos are the worst. You doubt me?? Just watch how they would react to my opinion
To buttress that fact...look all the organisations formed in the north, the OPC,the Ndi Igbo etc. These are tribalistic organisations whose primary intention is to promote self tribe rather than national oneness. Until we see our society above tribalism,we won't be there that we all clamour for....WORLUTING
Lol, is that a serious question lindodo? Going through your comments on this blog alone is in itself, enough evidence, or answer for you. Naija, I hail thee
Is that a trick question? Those worthless unnecessarily arrogant igbos are the most guilty. On top nothing they will be looking down on others. They even have the guts to be tribalistic towards yorubas who employ and put money in their greedy money ritual pockets. Mtcherwwww

Is he jus knowing- we where all brought up ,with pre imposed perception abt different tribes, Igbo - love of money, Yoruba -dirty, Hausa- uncircumcised . We are a tribalistic people
Yep very tribslistic I included. I do it trust a Yoruba man I think there are my friends because of the money I have or what I have to offer them. I donot trust an ibo man cos I fear there will likely steal or cheat me. I try u stick to minority tribes as there can relate to the pain t niger delta people have suffered in this country.
Lindiway it's true o he is so on point to get apartment in lagos dey will say dey don't want one tribe or the other others will say they can't date other tribe it's true
Tribalism and Rasicm are cut from the same cloth. You should hear what stereotypes certain tribes have created against each other. If I don’t date you, give you a job or vote for you because you are hausa, efik, igbo, yoruba or idoma, it means I feel you are inferior to me. So racism and tribalism are very similar

Aunty Linda I personally suffered this. Am from delta dating anambra guy the bully and problem their family gave me was epic expecially the father and sisters for 2years before they finally gave up on us...we conquered the issue cos of the love we have for each other but not their love as I speak to you now one of the sisters is keeping malice with me.
ALL THE TIME, THE BLACK RACE CRIES THAT WHITE MEN DO DISCRIMINATE US, WHILE AMONGST OURSELVES, WITHIN THE CONTINENT, WE DICRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES, WITHIN THE COUNTRY, WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER TRIBES, WITHIN THE TRIBES, WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER STATES, WITHIN THE STATE, WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, WITHIN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT, WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER TOWNS, WITHIN THE TOWN, WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER VILLAGES, WITHIN THE VILLAGE WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER KINDREDS, WITHIN THE KINDRED, WE DISCRIMINATE OTHER FAMILIES...........................Tribalism is still thriving much in the country and people like Alibaba with a subliminal tribalistc igbo and Hausa example are the biggest "sponsors"... #chEezyjayne
Tribalism is black to black while racism is white to black. Why is it that the whites have been told that they can't use the N word but blacks can use it on themselves?
Linda, sincerely a lot of us are. My dad is Yoruba, my mum is Hausa and the amount of prejudice towards my mother that came from my dad's side during the early parts of their marriage was unbelievable and would've probably had continued had my father not had enough. Thank God they're still together.
I know of other families that aren't so lucky. Some won't allow their children marry people from other tribes because of certain beliefs. All in all, Ali Baba has a huge, huge point.
Yes I agree with Alibaba, unfortunately; we are a tribalistic country. Nigerian's two major problem aside poverty and corruption is tribalism and religion. Linda, you will be amazed to hear some certain things still happen in this country. I weep for Nigeria sometimes, cos even education has not changed anything. Even in our voting, people are sentimental. They will vote for you because you are share their belief I once told a friend that Nigerian's problem will end only if we are truely one Nigeria. I will vote for someone I know will perform irrespective of tribe and religion, marry because of love, employ someone to an organization because of their qualification and experience. I intend to start an NGO to foster Nigeria when I get the money/attain my goal in life.
B4 nko.. lets jus tel ourselves d truth nd stp shouting unity, we ar one, together we stand divided we fall.. linda wen buhari faild election in 2011 u need to see wat happnd in kano nd kaduna.. many cars nd houses of dose supportin pdp wer burnt.. wats d cause of bh is it nt cause an igbo man is ruling. . Lets jus tel ourselves d truth. . Im sure jude okoye hates lola bcos shes yoruba *winks.. some parents dnt allow deir kids marry oda tribes.. plus evn in some universities deir is high rate of tribalism
HE IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!! WE ARE ALL GUILTY....NIGERIANS ARE SELF- RIGHTEOUS, ALWAYS JUDGING PEOPLE UP AND DOWN!!!! MANY PEOPLE VOTED FOR JONATHAN ONLY BCOS HE ISNT A NORTHERNER....NOW THEY ALL WANT HIS HEAD ON A SPIKE!!!! THERE IS NO TRUE FEDERALISM IN THIS COUNTRY, IT IS ALL A FARCE!!!

Lol...igbo won't marry Yoruba. .. Yoruba won't rent to igbo lol... igbo won't vote Hausa lol...but I guess igbo is more cool to Yoruba than the Hausa lol
We are indeed a tribalictic Nation,we even descriminate within same tribe,a mother will not let her son marry an Enugu girl, reason?,she is a "wawa girl".Anambra will not marry Imo,Enugu will not marry Anambra(bc they are agbaenu people)..Not to talk of marrying other tribes..
Linda, you know now. Not with all those back and forths between LIBers we see anyime anything tribal comes up. The sad part is that our different tribes are more tolerant and closer to one another outside the country. We are roommates, study together, besties, discuss our future plans and aspirations with one another and work towards our goals together. But once we get back to Naija, the cracks of tribal divide start to show in relationships and friendships. It's quite sad, and as we all know; charity, they say begins at home. We should all be able to live in togetherness and oneness, start our charity from home and take it out there, not the other way around only to drop it by the front door on our way back in..... Just Me
Yes!!! A nation where Christians look at Muslim as their enemy, Hausas cant marry Igbos , Yorubas hate Igbos with passion and Igbos cant associate with Hausas and Vise verser.
We might pretend not to be but this country is divided by tribal lines and it has worsened with this religious crisis all over the country. And not even between tribes, some tribes even discriminate each other.
We all agree with Alibaba so how do we stop tribalism and no opinion on how to stop it . If each us try not to be tribalistic in our dealings with other people, it would go a long way. Many of us this days are mixed breed and have learnt not to look down on any tribe. Btw my father is Yoruba and my mum is from Niger delta
I hate igbo peope, they roar like a lion, they can shout for Africa, they shout at d same time.....and they are so local!..yoruba people are d best ,they are small but mighty, they've got d swags and more educated.....im Edo tho.....
Yes we are cos if u are an igbo man looking for work in lagos it will be hard for u to find one cos u ain't bearing yoruba names same thing applicable in looking for house but thank God I'm living in a Govt quarters really I dnt ve prob with hausa ppl but just dis boko haram thing dat makes me dislike dem somehow I luv all tribes but I like my igbo ppl *smiles*
Don't blame us.our parents taught us well.inculcated d hatred rite from childhood.as for me oooo,am not tribalistic buh if u try to denigrate ma tribe and heritage den all hell would be let loose.proudly Yoruba.to d fool DT keeps insulting d yorubas, try and rise above hate.Yoruba re not d problem But hunger and illiteracy takes d nod
We are tribalistic in NIGERIA, d most guilty being IGBO, I served in d east ,Igbos even discriminate among demselves, even wit next villages, dere u hear autonomous community, just ask dis question, How many yoruba, hausa, ijaw, itsekiri owns a landed properties in igboland u will be shocked, dey don't even sell land to outsiders cos outsides re not welcome
Im an igbo lady and I married outside my tribe. I recently got posted to work in d east and u need to see d look im given each time someone finds out my husband is not igbo. We r truly a tribalistic country and its sooooo sad. There r good and bad pple in every tribe, why is it rocket science for some pple to figure that out.
There will ever be tribalism because we are not a Nation but a Country
"A nation is a tightly-knit group of people which share a common culture, and also an aggregation of persons of the same ethnic family, often speaking the same language or cognate languages"
Very true, am from south south, born in lagos, did my uni in south, nevered experience trabalism in south-south even to non south-south, until I was serving in ondo, that's when I understand the meaning of trabalism, am talking of uni student being trabalise against by lecturers, non teaching staff and even where they leave, got to know that in some western state uni, non westerns paid seperate amount for any due, that was the height of it. Even now the comment u see on nairaland, and blogs are all based on setiment, God create us to be rational, but nigerians don't think for their self again, they follow the position of their kings men. If not for God grace their negativity/trabalism would have made me trabal too. But thanks to God I see all human as the same, and trabalism has never come near by way
Yep he has a point. Back in uni, a lady refused to rent her bq to me because I'm Igbo. She told me to my face that she can't rent her house out to an Igbo person and I was sure to tell her off before leaving.... Some parents refuse their children marrying their ideal spouse because of tribe..... Are Your Expectations About Dating And Marriage Realistic? click my name to read more.
Are we really that tribalistic? But if he is a cute Dangote, Adenuga, GEJ son, then most Nigerian babe can associate or marry. Even a cute white guy, then we forget about tribe. I think more statuesque.
yes oooo.... we very much are. we still growing outta it but lets not kid ourselves; we are a very tribalist nation.

ReplyDeleteYea Tru talk Alibaba...we wil b singing 1 Nigeria 1 Nigeria!!! All na for mouth our Ethnicity/tribalism is d other of d day
ReplyDeletebut we are...a very tribalistic one...and whats worse, weve even got to our inter-tribal hatred, an intra-tribal one... the anambra man hates the Imo one, the ijebu people arent liked by other yorubas..i could go on and on you know
ReplyDeletei absolutely agree because a silly landlady in Maryland Lagos told my husband she cant accept him because he is Igbo!
ReplyDeleteShame on you lady because we were challenged by your actions and we live in our own house now!
*tongue out*
Yes. More than not
ReplyDeleteYes we are! My hausa colleague said she can't hire an igbo househelp. I gave it to her dat day!
ReplyDeleteyeah alibaba truly...over here in Nigeria its worst between black people hating dem selves...hausa hates every other ngerians ,Igbos dont wanna marry calabar...or yoruba hates igbo with passion because they are business oriented...in lagos..some girls go for their tribal people in marriage they dont care ofthe love is there or not...shame to we nigerians..we hate ourselves
ReplyDeletehahahaha, well,he may be right, for instance i personally hate Hausas cos of their animalistic behavior i.e boko haram, not all hausas anyway and i cant marry an igbo girl due to our cultural differences which may reflect in our relationship but that doesnt mean i hate igbos....am not a racist though....But in the case of sterling i guess it was more of the white colour superiority...
ReplyDeleteIs that a rhetorical questions linda?
ReplyDeleteone thing am sure of is dat tribalism cannot stop and it will neva end....
ReplyDeleteYup we very much are
ReplyDeleteOf course we are!! Very disgusting. Linda u should know... Tribalistic comments are written on your blog everyday and you post it. we are our own enemies.
ReplyDeletetribalism cannot stop... But some people are too tribalistic in nature.... Some even display dat character in d church.......
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with him o..... I once had a girl who said her parents won't allow her marry me cos I am not pure Igbo (meanwhile I am from Asaba, the igbo speaking part of delta state)
ReplyDeleteof course we are...
ReplyDeleteTrue to some extent *ThatFunctionGuy*
ReplyDeleteYES WE ARE! I'm Idoma married to Igbo, my hubby faces hostility from my side while I face hostility from His side. SWEET ANONYMOUS.
ReplyDeleteNever Take igbo tenants!!!!! they are the worst...
ReplyDeleteWhen will people learn!! Smh
DeleteYes we are, Particularly the Yorubas. Tribalism is in their DNA. Only few of them are free from it.
ReplyDeleteWho is alibaba? Mtcheeeew.
ReplyDeleteNigerians are really tribalistic! Am from ogun state nd married to an Igbo man. 10yrs nd still growing very strong.
ReplyDeleteWe live in the Uk nd I don't need to mention what tribe Iyou see most here.

ReplyDeleteOf course we are. Very very tribalistic.
ReplyDeleteLinda, you have to ask? Of course, we are, very!!!! In fact
ReplyDeleteYes we are!!Especially that wilheminna moses dat insults yoruba ppl evry time wt her comments, she must b from a broken home, cos she behaves like one who lacked love while growing up
ReplyDeleteAm expecting to read frm u right under my comment. Eze ure!
DeleteThis shouldn't even be a question..
ReplyDeleteNigeria is a tribalistic country..
And we are worse than racists..
Personally, igbos are the worst.
You doubt me?? Just watch how they would react to my opinion
Even without being told, you should have knwon that we are tribalisict to the core and that we are not one in Nigeria as people are made to believe
ReplyDeleteTo buttress that fact...look all the organisations formed in the north, the OPC,the Ndi Igbo etc. These are tribalistic organisations whose primary intention is to promote self tribe rather than national oneness. Until we see our society above tribalism,we won't be there that we all clamour for....WORLUTING
ReplyDeleteLol, is that a serious question lindodo? Going through your comments on this blog alone is in itself, enough evidence, or answer for you.
ReplyDeleteNaija, I hail thee
Linda before nko....only some comments in ur blog can say it all talk more of...
ReplyDeleteIs that a trick question? Those worthless unnecessarily arrogant igbos are the most guilty. On top nothing they will be looking down on others. They even have the guts to be tribalistic towards yorubas who employ and put money in their greedy money ritual pockets. Mtcherwwww

ReplyDeleteYour life is in Penury my dear
DeleteHe's a 100%right!
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree with him and it has gotten really bad over the years. The ibo people have a long way to go regarding tribalism. They are horrible
ReplyDeleteMust you call tribe ?? When will you learn?
DeleteIs he jus knowing- we where all brought up ,with pre imposed perception abt different tribes, Igbo - love of money, Yoruba -dirty, Hausa- uncircumcised . We are a tribalistic people
ReplyDeleteLinda u dnt kw?we r nd is worst.ds nation suckz coz of t
ReplyDeleteI DO, HE IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT
ReplyDeleteI soooo agree. The responses to this post will show it.watching....
ReplyDeleteYes we are not our broda keepers we only care about our self we donot care about others
ReplyDeleteYorubas re naturally tribalitic. Never keep them as friends.
ReplyDeleteYep very tribslistic I included. I do it trust a Yoruba man I think there are my friends because of the money I have or what I have to offer them. I donot trust an ibo man cos I fear there will likely steal or cheat me. I try u stick to minority tribes as there can relate to the pain t niger delta people have suffered in this country.
ReplyDeleteOne Nigeria No Nigeria. Just one interest group.... ENGR Emy
ReplyDeleteYes we are.
ReplyDeleteOh so very true
ReplyDeleteLindiway it's true o he is so on point to get apartment in lagos dey will say dey don't want one tribe or the other others will say they can't date other tribe it's true
ReplyDeleteBut of course hes correct. We are no better. Thats just the truth.
ReplyDeleteLinda.... Pls u need not ask such question, even with comments on ur blog, u shld know Nigerians are tribalistic.
ReplyDeleteTribalism and Rasicm are cut from the same cloth. You should hear what stereotypes certain tribes have created against each other. If I don’t date you, give you a job or vote for you because you are hausa, efik, igbo, yoruba or idoma, it means I feel you are inferior to me. So racism and tribalism are very similar

ReplyDeleteAunty Linda I personally suffered this. Am from delta dating anambra guy the bully and problem their family gave me was epic expecially the father and sisters for 2years before they finally gave up on us...we conquered the issue cos of the love we have for each other but not their love as I speak to you now one of the sisters is keeping malice with me.
ReplyDeleteThe muslims has proven beyond that Linda.
ReplyDeleteALL THE TIME, THE BLACK RACE CRIES THAT WHITE MEN DO DISCRIMINATE US, WHILE AMONGST OURSELVES, WITHIN THE CONTINENT, WE DICRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER COUNTRIES, WITHIN THE COUNTRY, WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER TRIBES, WITHIN THE TRIBES, WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER STATES, WITHIN THE STATE, WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, WITHIN THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT, WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER TOWNS, WITHIN THE TOWN, WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER VILLAGES, WITHIN THE VILLAGE WE DISCRIMINATE PEOPLE FROM OTHER KINDREDS, WITHIN THE KINDRED, WE DISCRIMINATE OTHER FAMILIES...........................Tribalism is still thriving much in the country and people like Alibaba with a subliminal tribalistc igbo and Hausa example are the biggest "sponsors"... #chEezyjayne
ReplyDeleteLinda, this one na question? If hausa man ask for your hand in marriage will you accept?
ReplyDeleteGbam. Oya Linda answer
DeleteYour blog is even a platform for tribalistic bigots, it is every Nigerian Blogs self.
ReplyDeleteYep I agree with Alibaba 100% we are a very tribalistic Nation!
ReplyDeleteVery tribalistic! Dats y we can't speak with 1 voice.
ReplyDeleteAlibaba should go sit his ugly black ass down! You this baba so you are supporting racism ??? So tribalism is now the same as racism? RUBBISH!
ReplyDeleteApple they are the same thing . At least check their definitions on Google. Before spilling your ignorance..
DeleteYes ooh the Yorubas are worse. To them any fair person is an Omo Igbo and that's where it all starts
ReplyDeleteTribalism is black to black while racism is white to black. Why is it that the whites have been told that they can't use the N word but blacks can use it on themselves?
ReplyDeleteHe is not just correct, he is GBAM NU NU! He he he he he he! www.theparot.com
ReplyDeleteYES WE ARE!! AND IT IS NAUSEATING....
ReplyDeleteVery very well! How can u even be asking this kind of question sef? Are u not in nigeria?
ReplyDeleteI was once rejected for a Job cause the manager wanted only a yoruba person which i'm not. What do u call that?
ReplyDeleteAre u just knowing linda that we are worst than the English man whem it comes to tribal sentiments.
ReplyDeleteLinda, sincerely a lot of us are. My dad is Yoruba, my mum is Hausa and the amount of prejudice towards my mother that came from my dad's side during the early parts of their marriage was unbelievable and would've probably had continued had my father not had enough. Thank God they're still together.
ReplyDeleteI know of other families that aren't so lucky. Some won't allow their children marry people from other tribes because of certain beliefs. All in all, Ali Baba has a huge, huge point.
I think we Nigerians are one of the most tribalistic nations in the world.yes I agree with Alibaba
ReplyDeleteYes I agree with Alibaba, unfortunately; we are a tribalistic country.
ReplyDeleteB4 nko.. lets jus tel ourselves d truth nd stp shouting unity, we ar one, together we stand divided we fall.. linda wen buhari faild election in 2011 u need to see wat happnd in kano nd kaduna.. many cars nd houses of dose supportin pdp wer burnt.. wats d cause of bh is it nt cause an igbo man is ruling. . Lets jus tel ourselves d truth. . Im sure jude okoye hates lola bcos shes yoruba *winks.. some parents dnt allow deir kids marry oda tribes.. plus evn in some universities deir is high rate of tribalism
ReplyDeleteYes we are
ReplyDeleteWe are Linda, even tho some of us will like to denial it but the truth is Nigerians are tribalistic.
ReplyDeleteHE IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!!
ReplyDeleteHE IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!! WE ARE ALL GUILTY....NIGERIANS ARE SELF- RIGHTEOUS, ALWAYS JUDGING PEOPLE UP AND DOWN!!!! ReplyDeleteYes we are. *Prettyeva*
ReplyDeleteOfcourse yes! U fit carry hausa man go introduce 2 ur papa?
ReplyDeleteLol...igbo won't marry Yoruba. .. Yoruba won't rent to igbo lol... igbo won't vote Hausa lol...but I guess igbo is more cool to Yoruba than the Hausa lol
ReplyDeleteWe are indeed a tribalictic Nation,we even descriminate within same tribe,a mother will not let her son marry an Enugu girl, reason?,she is a "wawa girl".Anambra will not marry Imo,Enugu will not marry Anambra(bc they are agbaenu people)..Not to talk of marrying other tribes..
ReplyDeleteFireworks!
Yes we are no question about it. And maybe once it can be looked into, maybe we could have a headway.
ReplyDeleteLinda, you know now. Just Me
ReplyDeleteYes!!! A nation where Christians look at Muslim as their enemy, Hausas cant marry Igbos , Yorubas hate Igbos with passion and Igbos cant associate with Hausas and Vise verser.
ReplyDeleteWe might pretend not to be but this country is divided by tribal lines and it has worsened with this religious crisis all over the country. And not even between tribes, some tribes even discriminate each other.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very true statement!!! There are deeply entrenched ethnic cleavages!!
ReplyDeleteWe all agree with Alibaba so how do we stop tribalism and no opinion on how to stop it . If each us try not to be tribalistic in our dealings with other people, it would go a long way. Many of us this days are mixed breed and have learnt not to look down on any tribe. Btw my father is Yoruba and my mum is from Niger delta
ReplyDeleteI hate igbo peope, they roar like a lion, they can shout for Africa, they shout at d same time.....and they are so local!..yoruba people are d best ,they are small but mighty, they've got d swags and more educated.....im Edo tho.....
ReplyDeleteYes we are cos if u are an igbo man looking for work in lagos it will be hard for u to find one cos u ain't bearing yoruba names same thing applicable in looking for house but thank God I'm living in a Govt quarters really I dnt ve prob with hausa ppl but just dis boko haram thing dat makes me dislike dem somehow I luv all tribes but I like my igbo ppl *smiles*
ReplyDeleteIt's true!!
ReplyDeleteNigeria are not one
~onahboy
Of Course the division is so insane and that is what is destroying this nation.
ReplyDeletetrabalistic in Nature you can not remove it from us that is true talk
ReplyDeleteDon't blame us.our parents taught us well.inculcated d hatred rite from childhood.as for me oooo,am not tribalistic buh if u try to denigrate ma tribe and heritage den all hell would be let loose.proudly Yoruba.to d fool DT keeps insulting d yorubas, try and rise above hate.Yoruba re not d problem But hunger and illiteracy takes d nod
ReplyDeleteUgh puhlease! That's a freaking rhetorical question Linda.
ReplyDeleteSeems like you are running out of gist these days so you just post anything.
Mcheeeew! *yawn*
ReplyDeleteIm an igbo lady and I married outside my tribe. I recently got posted to work in d east and u need to see d look im given each time someone finds out my husband is not igbo. We r truly a tribalistic country and its sooooo sad. There r good and bad pple in every tribe, why is it rocket science for some pple to figure that out.
ReplyDeleteNigeria is a joke; we need to split
ReplyDeleteyes! its sad but we really are. wrote something about this on my blog---->www.loritao.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThere will ever be tribalism because we are not a Nation but a Country
ReplyDelete"A nation is a tightly-knit group of people which share a common culture, and also an aggregation of persons of the same ethnic family, often speaking the same language or cognate languages"
The word you r looking for nepotist, tribalism is not wat u think it is linda.
ReplyDeleteVery true, am from south south, born in lagos, did my uni in south, nevered experience trabalism in south-south even to non south-south, until I was serving in ondo, that's when I understand the meaning of trabalism, am talking of uni student being trabalise against by lecturers, non teaching staff and even where they leave, got to know that in some western state uni, non westerns paid seperate amount for any due, that was the height of it. Even now the comment u see on nairaland, and blogs are all based on setiment, God create us to be rational, but nigerians don't think for their self again, they follow the position of their kings men. If not for God grace their negativity/trabalism would have made me trabal too. But thanks to God I see all human as the same, and trabalism has never come near by way
ReplyDeleteYep he has a point. Back in uni, a lady refused to rent her bq to me because I'm Igbo. She told me to my face that she can't rent her house out to an Igbo person and I was sure to tell her off before leaving....
ReplyDeleteSome parents refuse their children marrying their ideal spouse because of tribe.....
ReplyDeleteI agree with Alibaba all the way, and yes like some earlier comments left, Igbos are the worse. its really terrible the way they discriminate
ReplyDelete
