A statement released by the U.S. Ambassador to the
United Nations, Samantha Power says the move was to help close all avenue
of funding received by Boko Haram members
With this blacklisting, it makes it an offence for any country or individual to provide any form of support to Boko Haram. The group is now subject to an international asset freeze, travel ban and arms embargo."Today, the Security Council took an important step in support of the government of Nigeria’s efforts to defeat Boko Haram and hold its murderous leadership accountable for atrocities. By adding Boko Haram to the U.N.’s 1267 (al Qaeda) sanctions list, the Security Council has helped to close off important avenues of funding, travel and weapons to Boko Haram, and shown global unity against their savage actions,”

ReplyDeleteGood move.
ReplyDeleteSeriously? The govt only just made the request on weds??? That's just the height of incompetence and docility. People have been dying and BH has been terrorizing the govt for almost half a decade and the govt just found this necessary? So if outside countries didn't get involved all we would still be doing is talks and no action. May the spirits of the dead innocent victims judge this president and his cabinet.
ReplyDeleteLet's focus on supporting our president to end this trouble.its our problem not his problem. Our anger shld be towards the Boko haraam pple
DeleteGlory be to God,it serves Buhari and his boys[Boko Haram] right.
ReplyDeleteGlory be to God,it serves Buhari and his boys[Boko Haram] right.

ReplyDeleteITS ALL LIES THERE IS NO BOKO HARAM !!!!! ITS ALL A LIE!! BOKO HARAM IS A LIE, UN IS A LIE. THESE PEOPLE HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT STEAL FROM US!!!!!! NIGERIA IS PROGRESSING AND NOW THIS PEOPLE WANT TO ESTABLISH FEAR IN US, SO WE CAN ABANDON OUR PROGRESS AND ENTER INTO A WAR WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!!!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE BOKO HARAM IS A FARCE!!! I AM TELLING YOU BECAUSE I KNOW. I KNOW. THEY ARE GONNA RECRUIT OUR YOUNG BOYS ALL IN THE NAME OF FIGHTING BOKO HARAM, AND TURN THEM INTO KILLERS OVERNIGHT. WAKE UP NIGERIA. SUDAN, SOMALIA, SIERRALEONE, LIBYA, EGYPT NOW NIGERIA!!! WE MUST ALL SAY NO TO WAR, NO WE MUST SAY MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS. WE ALL KNOW WHAT WAR BRINGS, NEED I SAY MORE.
ReplyDeleteWat ll bring d war ? Pls put me thru. Wat r d disadvantages of askin for international help? Or r u from d bokoharam group? Die by fire

Delete@Eka Joy, I cudnt agree with u more. With every thing going on inNigeria today, the bombing and killings, what more proof does this dude/babee need to know that we are faced with a potential terrorist group in our country? Obviously people still live on the far side of dis world.

DeleteDONT BELIEVE ANYTHING ABOUT FIGHTING BOKO HARAM. YOU HAVE TO GO OUT IN THE STREETS, IN YOUR COMMUNITY AND HELP OUT IN WHATEVER WAY YOU CAN. WE MUST NOT TAKE UP ARMS, WE MUST NOT LIVE IN FEAR, WE ARE BLESSED. WE MUST LOOK BACK AND ACCEPT THAT WE'VE BEEN CHEATED. WE MUST NOT FALL A VICTIM OR BE QUIET WHILE HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF. THE AVERAGE NIGERIAN ALL OVER THE WORLD IS FACING A GREAT DEAL OF HARDSHIP. THEY MADE IT THAT WAY, THE COLONIALS, WHO INSTALLED THIS CORRUPT GOVERNMENT. WE MUST TELLL OUR BROTHERS NOT TO TAKE UP ARMS OF ANY SORT BECAUSE THIS WAR IS A FARCE AND FROM THE DEVIL INOTHERWARDS LET US LOOK OUT TO STICK TOGETHER IN THIS HARD TIMES AND NOT RUN AWAY, SHOUTING IN FEAR. WE MUST STAY HAPPY AND CONFESS THE PROGRESSIVENESS OF OUR PEOPLE. ONCE AGAIN, STOP SEEKING TRUTH FRO YOUR GOVERNMENT, THEY CONTROL IT ALL. WE MUST SEE THAT THE DECISIONS OF THESE PEOPLE IS REFLECTED DIRECTLY IN OUR LIVES IF WE DON T TAKE A STAND AND ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
ReplyDeleteNawah...So BOKO has finally gone international! There's God sha!
ReplyDeleteSo this was possible all the while and you waited this long to do it. Nawa ooo. Anyways, better late than never. I just hope it yields a position result. Lord show us mercy.

ReplyDelete@edDream's ur so funy chei, learn 2 read ur comment before posting.
ReplyDeleteThe bh group had always been an illegal entity therefore its rather late to blacklist them. I share from a comment that ask if bh can be funded or given any kind of support openly.
ReplyDeleteSo what abt the money, weapon etc they still have in stock to destroy innocent pple? I just pray this whole BH thing comes to an ebd
ReplyDeleteGood move cnt wait 4 this nightmare 2 end......byemonsters
ReplyDeleteGood step I pray it comes out well
ReplyDeleteThis is a great news hope it will help in capturing dem
ReplyDeleteSo, Boko Haram is not faceless afterall. They have been doing financil transaction, travellind and dealing in arms openly and legitimately all these while? Because if not, wwhich account are they freezing and who. Are they placing travel embargo on if they are faceless. I now know that there is more to Boko Haram than ordinary Nigerian can understand. It is unfortunate that our present leaders are too corrupt to fight for their own country. This will not happen under Abacha.
ReplyDeleteWhteva they want they shld do 2 those monsters!! #BringBackOurGirls.... By @successralu
ReplyDeleteWhy can't we understand that, we have problems this is not child's play, Nigerians always turn everything for comedy
ReplyDeleteAll these fools on here saying thanks to the UN for their help...are the same fools that supported jonas antigay bill and said that nigeria didn't need anyones help...a man who can imprison some one for his or her sexuality to please the same fools...lets face it nigerians are foolish...plain and simple...wise up before its too late....linda better post this comment...
ReplyDeleteThat is gud to hear that is a gud development
ReplyDeleteGreat news.
ReplyDeleteIt is a welcomed development..God will see us through
ReplyDeleteLinda, pls check comments b4 u post especially @ edreamz or Watever is his name.his grammar is unbearable.
ReplyDeleteI think you reason from your anus, why is boko haram a lie? are you not living in this country witnessing all the atrocities,or are you part of those sypathizing with bharam, face reality,we need to flush out these evil doers, they have commited more than the devil himself, boko haram is real, probably you will say al qeada and al shabab are also lie.wake up
ReplyDelete9ja pple wake up!!! Why seeking help where there is no help? The westherners are the father of terrorism nd u r seeking help from them? During OBJ regime our army settled dispute in some African countries compare to this tiny issue of these bastards called BH. Mumu, coward Jonathan doesn't have millitary experience nd instead of him to call pple that does................... God have mercy........ On Nigeria. Shalom.
ReplyDeleteI pray it works o
ReplyDeleteNot to sound pessimistic, but does this really change anything? The perpetrators are all here in Nigeria, right under our noses. Eradicating this plague from its roots I Think shud be the first item on the list
