Photos: Heavy military presence at MMIA, Lagos

According to multiple eye-witness reports, there's an unusual heavy presence of military personnel at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos. Ovation magazine publisher, Dele Momodu shared photos online and said the military men are making life difficult for passengers who are either departing or arriving the country. Atleast Lagos and other parts of the country should learn from Abuja.

  5. The ordinary man is always receiving the brunt of every action.Gone are the days when heavy presence of the army used to cause panick amongst civilians & reassuarance of safety at same time. This days BH have reduced them to civilians in uniform! I pray we experience a turn around in this country.

    1. My dear you just spoke my mind. In this dispensation, the presence of heavily armed millitary officers does not guarantee safety/protection.

  9. Why do we do things in opposite ways in Nigeria. Must you make people suffer before protection can be sure? Oga ooo, you have soldiers there for security reason, which is fine. But why do you have to cause them pain. Trekking with luggages?

    2. Don't mind insatiable Nigerians. If something goes wrong now they'll complain about the security. Find out the reason before complaining....maybe they were trying to prevent something coz I doubt they'd just go there to harass people unnecessarily.

  21. This is madness, why must citizens pay for errors made by government. The government is a big joke, instead of getting advance gadgets and training dogs to protect the airports, they are making life miserable for passengers. Will they say they have security threats than most airports in the world? All they want to do is embezzle funds, I always feel sorry for MM1, I was departing in February for LA, and the heat in the lobby was unbearable, the government always make us pay for their misdeeds and that's pathetic... Imagine military at the airport, hian.... And the annoying part is the government know what to do asps BH, but they won't because of selfish interest......

  25. All these attention seekers like Dele Momodu... when Boko haram strikes the Airport now he will be the first to scream poor security. Yet you have military presence to ward off any attack he will still complain. What does he want? We shd be ready to sacrifice our comfort it that it what it will take to fight terror.

  28. Its good jor. Who knows where they will strike again.

  29. Nigerians should stop being ridiculous. They do trek for miles in foreign airports without complaining. They should allow the soldiers to do their job. They may have credible evidence that boko haram is planning to attack the airport and so are doing everything possible to prevent another ogogoro drinking idiot from driving a golf car laden with explosives into the airport. So, Dele Momodu and co should do the trekking and shed some weight while they are at it.

  55. Its necessary. I'm landing in Nigeria next week and i'd rather walk for two miles with my luggages then get blown to pieces by some savages. People need to learn that there is no comfort in security, ask the people that have to deal with the annoying TSA agents in American airports. Beef up the security!

To get to the car park sef no be joke! I havn't suffered the way I suffered 2day inna long tym! God help our nation!!! I asked some ppl there dis question: isn't it easy for boko haram members to come and bomb the busy car park were ppl were stranded? N someone said: guess wat? They are prolly trying to safe guard the airport arrival n departure building and not necessarily the citizens! 2 sad I tell u! 2 sad! N sum1 will tell me 2 come back 2 dis country n ill gladly come back?
