Parents identify 4 abducted girls in Boko Haram video, but most still cannot see their daughters

Four parents of missing Chibok girls are said to have identified their missing daughters in the video released by Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, yesterday. According to Sahara reporters, Mrs Esther Mutali, one of the mothers of the missing girls say some parents of the abducted girls in their community have been able to identify their daughters in the video.

According to Madam Esther, those identified include two senior students from Askari Uba Secondary School and Wuyo Secondary School respectively. Both schools are near Chibok. A third girl, whose name was given as “Abdu Hauwa”, has also been identified by her mother. The source added that a fourth girl, Adiza Isah, has also been sighted in the video, making the total of identified girls four. Continue...

A Community leader in Chibok, Allan Manessah, however says most parents whom he visited in the community were not able to identify their daughters in the video released yesterday and that he also visited one of the girls who escaped from the boko haram hideout and she could not recognize any of the girls in the video. He says his fear is that the whole video release may be a ploy by Boko Haram leader to divert attention from the security experts pursuing him for the girls release.

Meanwhile sources in the Borno state government say the state government has set up a committee headed by the Chibok Local Government Chairman to handle the identification of the girls. The official revealed that the state government plans to assemble the parents of the abducted girls living in Maiduguri and its surrounding areas to watch the video at the Government House today to enable them to identify their daughters.

    1. Over 100 girls appeared in that video and up-till now just 4 parents have identified their children. Well after all said and done, the whole saga summarizes thus:

Where there girls abducted? Yes. Upto 234? No! Maybe not even upto 100. Who kidnapped them? Boko-Haram in conjunction with the Borno State Governor and the Chibok school Authorities. Where are the girls now? Governor Shettima knows where they are. Watch out: the Mothers of the girls MAY just be "Kidnapped" as well on their way back from the Government house.

  21. I keep having this creepy feeling that boko haram doesn't have this girls, as in the Chibok girls. Like they are just happy taking claim of things they didn't do, and if this is so, it means the girls are in more danger. I read somewhere that most of the girls identified have been missing for about two years. Which means the girls taking by boko haram and the chibok girls can be two different groups taken by two different devilish group. We practically blame the egotistical boko haram for everything bad, and don't leave room for what if there is another group. The attacks in Borno state have appeared more like raids, and that place is populated by people of different tribes ( kanuri, tiv fulani, chibok). There has been tension between these tribes for years. The whole borno situation, the raids to the kidnap, has been shrouded in mystery, in my opinion, Boko haram is not the only insurgent group in that area. I sincerely hope our sss and other paramilitary groups have this thinking.
P.S. If there is a typo, sorry, and if u read and don't share my thots, move along, no need to insult

  38. Permit me to ask a question, for you to write the West African Examination Council examinations do you present a photo showing your likeness for registration and for identification purposes? Positing that people are too poor to have photograph of them taken is a funny way of saying the girls were registered based on personal capacity since all 276, 234 or 223 of the cannot afford it.
They were taken but their is a grander scheme of things that you would not see when you flow with the tide.

  40. If only 4 girls have been identified, it may mean that Boko Haram is a group with wisdom. While the others are in transit to the market where women are sold, 4 girls( the 3 who spoke, and one other)will be mixed up with a group of girls in an Islamic school. Where is that committee that was set up to intimate us on the progress of things as far as security will allow?? They may have contacted the parents of the 4 girls and may have been shown photographs for all we know. We are here speculating, pretending to be detectives- the girls are truly missing; they are not!!!!!!!!!

  43. Questions to ask about newly picture show of Chibok abducted girls are?

    1. Why are they still looking robust if really they are in captivity in a forest for over three weeks?

    2. Hence they are been raped 15x everyday. How many of them are pregnant? And If there is any one pregnant among them but we are yet to see BBC, CNN, ALJAZEERA etc. portray it to the public. I know tomorrow they may show us that, but if they are really professional on their investigating journalism don't you think that is what they should have allow the public also be aware of? Now, if your underage daughter are raped 15x everyday by a grown up man. What do you think should be your first concerned?

    3. Why is that it is only from International and foreign media the public get the latest information on the situation. Didn’t Borno State has its own local media?

    4. To feed over 234 abducted children everyday it required lot of food stuff with a transporting vehicle. Why their transporting vehicle have not been spotted-out by any villager?

    5. Which market are they getting their food stuff from without any suspicious? Because, if you are buying that huge food stuff to feed over 234 abducted girls everyday the supplier should have know something fishy is going on with all the news all over the World?

    6. Do they also have a female Boko Haram member that is cooking for them or do they have a good cook that can keep up their robust appearance update with good food among the men in the forest?

The West and Nigeria counterpart thinks they can make people stupid all the time
