'Why I did not give birth abroad' - Muma Gee

Musician Gift Uwama popularly known as Muma Gee and her actor husband, Prince Oluemebe Eke welcomed a set of twins, a boy and a girl, on April 18th in Port Harcourt. The singer in a recent interview with  Encomium mag explained why she chose to give birth in Nigeria instead of traveling abroad like most of her colleagues do.
"I am a great woman and I wasn't born abroad. I was born in Rivers state. So my children will also be great. The hospital is in Rivers state. I am not one of those who would travel abroad and spend a lot of money to deliver their babies. I have told myself I will deliver in Nigeria and the children and I will all succeed here"
She also expressed her joy over the birth of her bundles of joy. See that after the cut...
"I am excited. I am elated. I am very happy and thankful to God Almighty. Words are not enough to express our feeling. I will say I am overwhelmed. It is like God, is this me? Are these beautiful babies for us? How did this happen? What have we done to deserve this miracle? I was not initially expecting twins. All I knew was that I started getting big and bigger. And people would see me and say, oh, you are looking so beautiful. I didn't believe I was going to have twins. We thank God."

    6. Dear Muma Gee,
It is Old news that you're broke. It's also common knowledge that your 'husband' isn't thaaat wealthy, hence the stupid prince title. Prince of where exactly? Industry road or D line in port harcourt?
Frankly we were content being just happy for you till you brought this up and this upon yourself.
Pls just sTFU and breastfeed the twin. Trust me, if u were any responsible, you shouldn't have time for interviews, yet! #okbye

    4. People give birth abroad bcos dey want to enjoy epidural analgesia which is yet to be introduced in Nigeria. Its an injection whch wen given to a woman in labour, numbs all d labour pains and she won't feel any pain whyl giving birth. That's d main reason y pple travel abroad to birth deir kids.

      Delete
    5. Its clear to me dt u haven't gone d journey of giving birth cos epidural has been in Naija for many years now.Pls make sure you do some findings before u come up with ur opinion.

    6. You lie my dear. There are hospitals in Nigeria that administer Epi, like the hospital I gave birth at NISA Premier in Abuja does it, and there are several others in Abuja and Lagos. So get ur facts right. In my opinion, Nigerians travel out for delivery cos of Better medical facilities, secure a better future for their kids, "do what others are doing".

    2. But it's kinda true, she should just rejoice that she gave birth, period. Abroad or no abroad shouldn't even matter to her. The fact that she's ushering the opportunity to insinuate that people who had their babies abroad are looking down on the country or feel like they can never make it in Nigeria is also not very nice on her part. Different people do different things for different reasons. Congratulations on the babies though.

It is his life remember and he has right over his life and what he does with it. Why are Nigerians so oppressive in nature?why do you people derive so much joy in taunting, bullying and abusing other people?yet when a post on how govt oppresses its citizens is up here u lots cry injustice!that is hypocrisy!you are no different from them cos if given the opportunity you do same!I have noticed with dismay how you people bully onyx here! Gosh Nigerians are so loveless and wicked in nature!why cant we show a little love to others! Why always be on the oppressive side! That is the reason *NG* is where it is today as a nation!look at the Ayogus case killed by his fellow brothers cos of lovelessness and oppressive spirit! U may think wat u are doing is nothing but this is how human oppression starts, when you think you have an edge to bully and oppress someone or join in the act cos others are doing it! The moment we start loving one another that Is the time we will become respected as a nation by other nation and ofcourse we will become a great nation and have better governance! By the way onyx I am voting for u on the Idol competition goodluck!

People don't give birth abroad because they don't love their country but because our hospitals still have high rates of mortality. you hardly hear of women dieing of child birth in developed countries. But in africa it is very common so people who can afford to excape that do it and in the process they also acquire in most case a passport and the promise a higher quality free education for their kids.
