Pres. Jonathan cancels FEC to mourn VP Sambo’s brother

President Jonathan has directed that today's Federal Executive Meeting be shelved to enable members of the council attend the 3-day prayer for VP Sambo's deceased brother, late pilot Yusuf Sabo Sambo, who died in a fatal accident on Sunday April 27th along the Bill Clinton Drive, Airport road, Abuja.

Sam Nwaobasi, the Special Assistant (Media) to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation announced the suspension of the meeting.

58year old Yusuf Sambo was a private pilot and is survived by a wife and 3 daughters. He has since been buried according to Islamic rites. You can see pics from the burial after the cut...

  12. Loss of a loved one to the cold hands of death is better imagined that experienced. Though I empathise with the bereaved but I shudder at the preferential tretment given to them;susenspion of government functions in respect of the bereaved family. Why didn't the State offer such gesture to the decesed n victims of the Abuja bomb blast? It leaves a sour taste in the mouth to note that governance/symbolic acts in this part of the World is for the affleunt and ruling elites

  19. What kind of president is this?
Over 70 souls were lost in Nyanya bomb blast, no meeting was cancelled.
Over 200 girls were abducted, no meeting was cancelled.
Now Sambo's brother died, FEC was cancelled for just one soul! And that's because of his ties to the V.P.
Are we saying that those that died previously were not humans? Or their lives were not worth anything?
Only God will judge the wickedness of this present government under the leadership of Goodluck Jonathan.

Nonsense Presidency, hundreds die in Nyayan bomb blast, and he went ahead to attend an Oba's 100th birthday Celebratn, and also went ahead with his political campaign. Now a fellow blood suker's brother dies, he values that to hundreds of lives or poor innocent civilians because he feels those lives mean nothing, they cant play any role in his agenda for another term in office.. You know what I'll always wish for these leaders and their families.. "KILL THEM ALL" (In Spartacus accent). They should not worry o! the clock is thinking and revolution is around the corner, what is happening in Syria will be a joke compared to what will happen here in Nigeria.. and if you care so much to know who says so.. 112. How convenient. How about dead victims of nyanya bomb blast. Our abducted daughter's.? Fulani herds men killing people?

  113. This is wat am saying! Hundreds of ppl died, hundreds sustained different degree of injuries, hundreds of gails were abducted yet u didn't see reason to cancel a political rally, u didn't only attended d rally bt was seeing dancing at d rally as if nothing had happened! When Obama's grand mother died toward his election he cancel his campaign rally & took off time to moan his dead granny to show dat he is human wit emotions & above all he hv feelings 4 d lives of individual he is going to govern bt wat happen in our own case? Our president shows clearly dat he is inhuman & don't hv d interest of nigerian citizens at heart & dats y we r facing wat is happening in our country today! Bcos we r govern by a senseless leader, a weakling, dat hv no sense of humour in him. God help us. @SHoK

  116. Please lets not trivialize a loss, do you know what it means to lose a brother, husband, father? I no the president has not been behaving well but please even the bible said we should mourn the dead. In other countries people in authority are respected and revered its because the reverse is the case here. Please see this as a sign of love and respect for a soul. Thank you

  121. Can someone see what am seeing here? Hundreds of people died in a bomb blast and two days later Jonathan was seen dancing at the PDP rally, now a close allied died and every activity of Mr President halted. These people don't care about the masses but themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  126. This guy's brain either needs to be formatted or he doesn't know his job as the president of this country. There are security challenges in every nook and crany of this country, there is the ASUP strike and other things that need urgent attention but they are cancelling FEC just to attend a burial of one man but couldn't cancel a stupid rally after the death of many Nigerians. These leaders just deserve the wrath of God.

  127. Linda, I have been following your blog for some months now and I honestly wonder why you never comment on anything that has a political tone to it E.g Why don't you have an opinion on why GEJ will cancel an important FEC meeting to mourn Sambo's brother when he did not do so for the missing girls. Well, since you gossip and broadcast news, kindly announce to everyone on your Blog that the 'change movement Nigeria' protest would be holding on Thursday(May 1st) and remember that every onlooker is a coward. So let's stop whining and dinning with this evil doers and actually force change for once in our lives. I hope you'll post this comment. Thanks

  128. So this one should be mourned but victims at yanya park should be abandoned for a rally.this is heartless

  129. This is why foreigners do not take Nigeria seriously.

All the affairs of State have been postponed for 1 week, in a country where Boko Haram move freely from 1 state to the other, kidnap girls and marry them anyhow.

77 Nigerian Citizens died in a bomb blast and the Federal Government did not even acknowledge their death by lowering flags to be at half mast; we only got security meetings out of which nothing comes out.

Was the vice presidents brother a national personality that all the Federal matters must be put on hold for 1 week, they should have declared public holiday also.

It is only in Nigeria that i have seen the father of a governor have a car with a customised plate number with the coat of arms of the state proclaiming him as the Governors father as if it is a traditional title or something. It is only in Nigeria that we see complimentary cards for brother/ friend/ sister/ girlfriend/ personal person of the governor or... any other official.

It is only in Nigeria that Government resources will be used for a wedding, only in Nigeria that Govt resources will be used for campaign; in America even when the sitting president uses govt apparatus during his campaign like airforce 1 and all that his campaign organisation pays for all those expenses. Even the first lady bears most of the expenses for her personal trips and movement.

When will we stop all these attitudes of psychophancy and non accountability so we can move forward with being a Nation that commands respect in the world

As the parents of the missing girls are in pain and sorrow,so shall ur families from generation to generation will be. So you can cancel FEC meeting bcos of your deputy's brother abi but you cldnt cancel your rally for the nyanya bomb victims and the missing girls? God will always give you and your cabinet members cause to mourn so that you can cancel meetings. Oloshi

    1. On behalf of Jonathan, I return all the insults back to you. Go and read the newspaper well before you chat rubbish. The council members decided themselves to go and pay a visit to Sambo n partake in their rites. You go shit blame d prez, fail exam blame d prez, fall for ground blame d prez. Sambo like it or not is the number 2 person in nigeria. Go read animal farm. Some animals are more equal than others. Zombie.

  140. No disrespect to Sambo's brother but there are more important deaths that didn't get any recognition. Nyanya deaths etc Even the kidnapped girls!!! WTF! 3 days??? How do you guys sleep at night? Have you no heart?

  143. Hmmm...priorities, priorities, priorities......all animals are equal but some are more equal than others. So, according to this reasoning, a single life is 'more equal' than 75 Nyanya lives (Party in Kano) and 200 Chibok girls (nonchalance).....

  146. I feel sympathy and compassion for the family of the man who died. However, isn't it curious that we recently lost over 70 people in a terrorist attack that shocked many in this country followed by a senseless abduction of innocent girls AND THERE WAS NO CANCELLATION OF FEC MEETING TO MOURN THEM. Now I understand why people rig elections and kill to get into power in this country, life really doesn't count unless you have or are close to power.
