Erastus Akingbola's London home sold for £5.7million

Embattled banker and former Managing Director of the now defunct Intercontinental Bank, Erastus Akingbola's London home has been sold by the UK government for £5.7million pounds, which is about N1.5billion.

A UK Judge, Justice Michael Burton of the Royal Courts of Justice, London, had on July 31 2012, found Erastus Akingbola guilty of theft and fraud of monies totaling £654million and ordered that his London home be sold as part of the properties he is to forfeit having been found guilty.

Mr Akingbola is also standing trial for Financial Crimes here in Nigeria. He is accused by the EFCC of stealing N47billion depositors funds from Intercontinental Bank.

All you fools shouting "yoruba", God damn y'all. The content of a man's character is independent of ethnicity or race. Only nepotic douchebags like you will attribute his case to a tribe. Have you forgotten Barth Ebong(Ex-UnionBank MD)? Is he yoruba? Is Cecilia Ibru a yoruba woman too? Y'all r scum-eating fools and I see why you r retarded!

I served in 1 of dere states n mehn it isn't hard knowing dere grievances whnvr dy drop thoughtless comments on blogs. In d end tho',I've quite a few of dem as friends n I sometimes wonda y dere own tinkin is surprisingly rational compared 2 wat I came 2 notice yl on youth service....dats where xposure probably comes in.
My friend, abeg no nid responding 2 evry of dere ill-thought spurious jargons, afterall itz a free world n evry1 is @ liberty 2 state his mind as long as u can conjour a few words in English..lol.#laughing in thick Igbo accent#.
Wait a minute sef,if dy don't pounce on d opportunity dat a yoruba man is in d news 4 d wrong reasons 2 view dere minds, whn will dy?.
Respect 2 my learned Igbo friends, evn Jesus had a Judas n sometimes a few faggots might not b enof reason 2 make a template of d character of d majority.
It's in dis country that wn a man is successful,evry1 claims it n saliently envies him bt if in d news 4 d wrong reasons, dats when ppl starts dissociating themselves by pointin out dat he's of anoda ethnic group.lol
      So,u can kip ranting,cursing n abusing as usual...if not u,who will???Kip hating,it's enof consolation 2 @least seize opportunities like dis 2 air ur bitterness.

  34. And now that the house has been sold, will the British government return the money? The western government is part of the problems African countries has. They support looting and allow these thieves to invest with embezzled funds in their country. As for corrupt leaders and politicians, do you all think it ends only in Yobe or Bornuo? It will spread but unfortunately the innocent ones will die. Sanusi and co should return the money they stole from this country, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH !!!!!!!

Dey have caught a yoruba man n dis dumb-ass fool is saying why is not proper to talk abt tribe in terms of crime, but had it been is an ibo man, all dis damn dirty hopeless disgusting shamless barbaric uncircumsized yorubas will open their scum eating mouth to critisize him, I served in Ekiti state during ma NYSC year, I knw how dis people treat ibos, but the funny tin about the yoruba gals is, dey can do anytin to have an ibo guy as bf, if u ask dem why, dey will tell u the ibos are so cute and caring that the yoruba men are so dumb and lazy lol.........DIAMOND

  47. I hate it when some peeps deviate frm d subject matter & tackle wat is not.this is not a tribal issue, most pple can't even see thru deir eyes.d main point is to give meaningful coments cus theft & money laundering by our govt officials has eaten deep in2 our system, everyone is been greedy. We can never make a meaningful impact if we still attacking the yoruba man bcos ure igbo or hausa & leaving d subject matter which is wat we shld be most concerned about.Anyways Mr Festus,u serve as a scapegoat to d remaining of ur contemporaries who steals govt.funds 4 deir selfish interest.I rest my case

  49. I ve said it tym without nomba dat d problem with Nigeria is not d Legislator or d Executives but d Judiciary. D Nigeria Judiuciary re liable for d woes & failure of d Nigeria State. D Judiciary encourage dis common criminals who re entrusted 2 run d affairs of d economy 2 steal & loot our economy knowingly fully well dat der criminal minded colleagues in d Judiciary will use der office 2 frustrate d long arm of d law from gettihg Justice. Look all d cases of stealing & looting brought 2 public know non of dem ve bin convicted even when it is very glaring, with intimidating evidence. Wat d Nigeria Judiciary is failing 2 do der counterpart in Britain is helping dem 2 do it. Wat a SHAME. First Ibori now Akingbola.
