Photos: Delta Govt building $57m massive shopping mall in Effurun

The Delta State Government in collaboration with Shoprite have started construction on a massive shopping mall called the Delta City Mall in Effurun, Uvwie LGA near Warri in Delta State said to cost $57million. The government said the idea of building the mall was to help improve the economic activities of the state.

The 12,000 square kilometers of fully air-conditioned shopping mall will be ready by Christmas of 2014. If you live in Delta State, Shoprite and many other stores are coming to your town. Continue to see more photos....

Below is what the mall will supposedly look like when it's done

    1. I wonder o. $57million is a whole lots of money in Naira and too much to build a mall like shoprite. It seems these thieves only want to be using dollars so people won't pay attention to the worth unlike when u say it in naira. SMH for Nigerians. That's a whopping 9.2 billion naira on a mall. Is that what delta people even need now? Hope u have built schools, hospitals, markets and roads with this kind of money. These present govt only embark on outrageous projects on which they will rip people off their money. It's all for their own benefits. It's a matter of time before u thieves are voted out

    2. @anon by ur comment I. Guess uve have never been 2 warri skools and markets have been built already...by building this mall it will increase our income and also bring lots of people from the streets......this will shift a lot of youths from the oil work illussion and back 2 reality which is u can make it evenwithout oil money....

    1. I wonder o. And am so baffled by some people's comments commending him. Is that Delta's priorities now? How many people in Delta would afford going to buy stuffs in Shop rite? $57million is equivalent to billions of naira that can be used for better projects that deltans will benefit from. What people need is affordable food, education, housing, hospitals, roads et al and not some stupid mall they won't be able to afford. I even heard the one in Ibadan is as empty as heaven. This country is a joke. People should wake up from slumber

  35. It is a welcome development but in as much as it is going to create employment, it is not the way to go in a developing country like Nigeria. What the government should be looking at is manufacturing, agriculture development, security stability, energy etc. That way an holistic development could be seen in the state and a generic effect could be seen in the country.I belive not every state in the country should invest in tourism like Cross River state. Some should invest in other areas.

Your comment made me laugh. Please take some time out of your busy schedule to see things for yourself in Warri. When you go back to Port Harcourt, you will kiss the feet of Gov. Rotimi Amechi. The town Warri is very very dirty place, with no good drainage system, the roads are very bad. In fact as the rainy season is approaching, people are scared, especially those in water logged areas. The gutters are blocked, and when it rains, everywhere becomes flooded.
Most times they only bother to repair the damaged (potholes) parts of the roads when an important personality is visiting.
The slow pace at which the construction firm handling the dualization of Okumagba Avenue road is work is disturbing, at times you see the workers sleeping in their tractors, now the rain is gradually.
As for Effurun roundabout to Enerhen junction, I dont understand what the man wants to do because this road was dualized by Ibori's govt. Linda, you need to see this road to be able to understand why I am confused. Uduaghan has succeeded in dividing the wealth of Delta state amongst his family members and his partners in crime. His boys drive big, big cars every day, ask them where they work – dearest Linda, abeg that na story for another day.
Linda, I am saying what I see here, "not dem say"
Warri is the least developed "city" in Nigeria considering fact also that it is one of the major sources of Nigeria's wealth.
Linda, if you want to confirm what I am saying, you are free to investigate but please note that the sycophants will not give you the true of things in Warri.
