NYPD shuts down Davido's NY concert because it was over-packed
The show yesterday was supposed to be Davido's first show as he kicks off US/Canada Tour 2014. He has a show in D.C today and Minnesota tomorrow. Then Dallas, Texas on Friday the 4th of April, then makes a final stop in Toronto, Canada on the 5th of April.
That's a country who are concerned for the safety and security of its citizens, not Nigeria

ReplyDeleteToo bad #bright bravo#
ReplyDeleteBADDO O.B.O.. Naso
ReplyDeleteCheap ass promoters that won't follow building code and capacity regulations. These NAija promoters do this all the damn time. It's written in the event hall contract that capacity is 300 people. Yet they ignore that out of greed by selling 600 tickets forgetting that police always come by to inspect these events to ensure one mofo is not about to put the building owner in some violation lawsuit. It's a. Safety issue when a building is overpacked and a God for if there is a fire and the exit is blocked cos the room is too crowded
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Am happy for Davido. Shows he's doing extremely well overseas. Loveeeee..
ReplyDeletePls where in Toronto is d show holding? Badoo of Toronto do u have any idea?
ReplyDeleteNo be only badoo of Toronto,y not badoo for TOlotolo
DeleteNot sure where in Toronto it's holding but I won't move near the place. If it's anything like Wizkid's concert a couple of years ago, it will be poorly organized and tickets will be sold in excess of the venue's capacity. Then OPP will shut it down. And then Linda will come on her blog and hail it as a sign of the artiste's success.
DeleteNigga balling hard...much love man...

ReplyDeleteHow won't the show be shut down when $40 is less than N1,500. He should do the same here and see if the National stadium won't be shut down #crazymind#
ReplyDeleteOde how is 40$ less than 1500? Ur mind craze no be small. Common calculation u no fit abi na rate u no know? Dollar for ur village na 17 naira nii? Ewu national stadium
DeleteBro $40 is abt N7,000 I dunno wotchu talkn bout!
DeleteBro $40 is abt N7,000 I dunno wotchu talkn bout!
DeleteMonkey like yu. Yu nor knw say na 6k yu dey talk abt here. Even if na #1500, how many shows have yuu attended
DeleteWhat an imbecile. 40$ is less than 1500? You are a very retarded person anon 1:48...so 40 multiplied by 160 is 1500? Olodo oshi
DeleteTwo olodos! $40 is about #6,400 and the dollar rate "for ur village" should be #37.50

Come to Toronto.... we expecting you
ReplyDeleteLinda,
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the capacity of the venue. If the venue can only hold 1000 people and 1500 show up, then it becomes a safety issue and has to be shut down. However, if an artist was booked to perform in a 50,000 capacity venue and 45,000 people turned (therefore it isn't shut down), will you say he was less special than the guy who got shut down because 1500 people turned up to a 1000 capacity venue?

Wow......cool illustration. U must b quite good in statistics.
DeleteLinda na lie oo, wuz at the show, the real reason wuz dat I gal fainted in front and dey called the emergency service, wen dey came dey found out it wuz so choked in front and dey had to stop the show cuz it wasn't conducive, although it wuz packed oo, i wouldn't lie, but mehn d main issue wuz at the front...much love for davido sha, e tried, but e no use pass 30 mins on stage and we all went bak home whining...lol
ReplyDeleteDavido i wanna cause traffic like u wen i grow up!

ReplyDeleteI think is good idea, prevention is better than cure. ⌣̊┈̥-̶̯͡»̶̥♡thanks ⌣̊┈̥-̶̯͡»̶̥
ReplyDeleteI love dis guy, no homo... Muaah
ReplyDeleteWhat was the size of the venue?, if it was a venue for 20 people and 21 people go in there, here in US the police will stop the show period.
ReplyDeleteThis is good news in disguise right?
ReplyDeletecommenting from Beyond Borders.
Dis smal boy dey pull wait o,thumb up bro
ReplyDeleteDavido is really rocking it......mehn i've got to step up ma game......yeah.Oh Lord make way for me where there seems to be no way.

ReplyDeleteIts an exclamation mark! not I
DeleteOlodo like u!its was a exclamation mark fool...
DeleteNa wa o... police wahala
ReplyDeleteGreedy promoters overbooked by getting a cheap smaller venue and then exceeding capacity. They didn't care about public safety and were maximizing their dollars. The authorities put the public first and shut them down.
ReplyDeleteDONT WORRY,THINGS GONNA GET BETTER SOON,I GUESS.
ReplyDeleteDONT WORRY U SURE GONNA GET ANOTHER CONCERT@ DAVIDO
ReplyDeleteBig ups Boy.
ReplyDeleteA table for four costs less than N120k, whereas a table for six here in Nigeria for the same show wouldn't cost less than N500k here in Naija. No money for 9ja o, poverty dey o, abi....
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly!

ReplyDeleteWow! Our naija artists are bomb!I really love Davido, he's got lots of talents
ReplyDeleteWow!!! Davido has gone far
ReplyDeleteIt's a common thing and it's not rare, most nigerian parties in Yankee send police to send people away cos of safety reasons, a hall that takes 500 capacity will not allow 510. Nothing biggy even my sons naming ceremony police had to turn people back. Nija local celeb with their mouth.....
ReplyDeleteWow! E really get mouth be that.
ReplyDeleteSmall venue.......*yawns*
ReplyDeleteWaow!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLilin,i smell a rat o,whilst i'm happy for davido dt he's appreciated outside his fadaland. I jus wan know,if na jayz dem go still cancel am? I'm tryin to imagine hw much he wud av paid for d hall and oda logistics, who go refund dt one? Abi e no go pay again, after d hall owners must have denied oda users for d period of time d concert was scheduled. May b na my nose too dey sensitive,bt i smell a rat,a newyork sized rat.
ReplyDeleteI love this boy! That his Aye *music* ιƨ dope!
ReplyDeleteWow...
ReplyDeleteDavido OBO u worth it and u are seeing. Carry on feel blast don't feel sad.
ReplyDeleteDavido is jst bam bam bam...cool boy
ReplyDeleteLinda is just razz. You dont have to be special for this to happen. It just shows bad planning by his concert organisers.
ReplyDeleteOk.. quite unfortunate but I find it difficult to actually see what the fuss is about David; maybe it's a big deal for those without responsibility/still depend on parents for their upkeep...The one I've heard that made a little sense is 'aye'...my kinda scene..
ReplyDeleteI could never pay to attend his show; nail me!
*My R1.50c comment *
awww, that's sad...

ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmmmn
ReplyDeleteAwww davido. He is blessed just that the promoters messed up. Anyhoo the rest of his concert will be far more organized. Mistakes don't happen twice, amen.
ReplyDeleteLove you david. You blessed
ReplyDeleteDavido rocks. Blessed nigga
ReplyDeleteKeeep doing whatcha do davido. You're the man aye!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was so annoying. A whooping 650$ gone just like dat without even enjoying it a bit
ReplyDeleteHe rocks!!!
ReplyDeleteDavido Omo Aye!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
ReplyDeleteLinda you too dey over hype these people. Have you thought for a second that he was probably shut down because the place he rented for the show was too small since he couldn't or didn't pay for a bigger venue because he was afraid that people won't show up. How many times them don shut down Beyonce or Jay Z, or Kanye West just because the venue was "over packed"? I begi. Enough of this over-hyping. The boy isn't all that. If you like don't post my comment, it's all good still....
ReplyDeleteWas a small venue. So what makes him so special. Pls, he couldn't even book a bigger venue, why the hype? Linda take ur time.
ReplyDeleteLINDA, I DON BELIEVE IT UNTIL I SEE AN EVIDENCE CORROBORATING HIS STORY...D GUY PROLLY RENTED A SMALL PLACE DAT GOT OVER-FILLED.
ReplyDeletethis is a lesson that suits you to learn. did you think you were in naija oniranu somebody. next time follow the rules when you are in another country gorrit mschewwwwww
ReplyDeleteLol, dats the slums what do you expect
ReplyDeleteBig ups to them, they are protecting their citizens
ReplyDeleteLinda...this is my first time ever commenting on your blog but I feel so moved to discredit all the lies coming from Davidos camp that you are also helping to promote. I was at this concert...and it was AN EPIC FAIL!!! Bad organization, and it is very disappointing for an "artist" of Davido's caliber. I understand that blame is due to the promoters to some extent but what of you Davido? Do you not take pride in your work? And in your fans? The concert was supposed to start at 9pm. Davido's opening acts took the stage at 315am. OPENING ACTS!!!!! You know NY regulations, regardless everything will end at 4am; Davido came on at 345, disappointing and very boring. No coordination with the DJ, you are just singing along to your prerecorded tracks, eyes glazed over as if on crack cocaine. Even if it was not shut down, the show would have still been a bust. We deserve better. Invest in yourself with the money you have swindled from us. Also the way your people treat women is DISGUSTING!!! A girl passed out and your shouting for 30mins for "security" to come remove her, music and dancing continues on stage dancing around the poor girl. Then you invited girls on stage. No preplanning, no coordination, why won't be shut down?!?! I am truly disappointed. What you put forward was not indicative of a Omo Baba Olowo. Why am I paying money to see you lipsync to your tracks; poorly? Go ask Flavour, PSquare, and Dbanj about their USA concerts. You my friend are not ready. Go invest in yourself. We deserve better.
ReplyDeleteI was there...you are so right...couldnt have said it better...piss poor performance!!!...would have spent my $40 on something better....like watching paint dry...
DeleteP.S Davido, I am not on twitter or instagram. However, I will join just so I can tweet you about your horrible concert.
ReplyDeletePlz enuf of the hype, he should shut down HMV apollo in London he really has crowd, Wizkid and psquare did dat 2011, Davido can't do gud shows, he doesn't know to perform plz. The hall must be like a class room.
ReplyDeleteSee igbo hate comments on lib na wah if na tuface and Anne or psquare na another talk,it's the way they were brought up
ReplyDeleteBigz boy, it's your time, man
ReplyDeleteBeing overpacked depends on the capacity of the hall jare. IF 450 PEOPLE SHOW UP IN A HALL OF 250, IT IS OVERPACKED.
ReplyDelete3 people can't sleep in my 6x6 bed, it would prolly be over packed... The question is, what is the capacity of the venue?
ReplyDeleteDavido really fucked up joh...I 8 his response to this. 1. he came late for d show and performed for 20 mins. My ticket money jez waste like dat.
ReplyDelete2. i guess he was scared to use a bigger hall.
3. I don't understand all dose pple on stage with him, dey weren't dancers nor dj.at most 2 backup singers are ok na.
still #teamdavido tho but he really disappointed us @ nyc
Much luv my guy skelewu
ReplyDeleteU rock guy kiss for u
What the fuck is this dude saying?
ReplyDeleteThe show was totally messed up. WORST SHOW EVER. Bad organizers. HE IS Now forming it was shut down because it was overpacked and all. How many people are davido, d stage was so fucked up. I am not going for any davido's show again
Nice step to avoid stampede
ReplyDeleteNice step to avoid stampede
ReplyDeleteCongrats xxx
ReplyDeleteIf you want the real truth about this concert holla at me, being shut down for over capacity is a total lie.
ReplyDeleteThis is false, it was a license problem, not overcapacity, venue was a warehouse and it was not even full
ReplyDeleteWhat I can see here is that a Nigeria problem is with the Nigerians not the Govt. How will a Nigerian promoter overbooked Pulse 48 Nightclub in Brooklyn NY as if it in Lagos. The police did it job and everyone ok. If the police have tried it in Lagos, the attendees should have linked it to Govt action against Nigerian youth freedom of assembly and association. Any action to reform people in Nigeria never work. No one what to obey the law.
ReplyDeletesmh @You have to be a really special artist for this to happen to you. . ... Linda abeg chill with the hype. Na wa for you.
ReplyDeletethere is a report that davido was drunk b4 enter d stage, the eye witness the guy was drunk b4 enter the stage, hkn gang just frame it that nyc police shut down the concert..is a lie
ReplyDeletewait a sec u mean to tell me dat wen real celebs are doing dere own concerts which will definitely attract more fan dat its gonna b shut down .......lol....una neva ready to tell us wetin happen.
