Nigerian student, Godwin Ayogu, murdered in Ghana

A Nigerian student studying in Ghana has been found murdered. Godwin Ayogu (pictured above), a 300level student of Social Sciences at the University of Cape Coast in Ghana was killed by unknown person/s and his body dumped by the roadside.

Godwin, said to be in his early 20s, was last seen on Tuesday February 18th at the university. His body was found on Wednesday February 19th.

According to his friends, Godwin, who was the first child of his parents, had been planning to return to Nigeria on Wednesday to spend time with his family when his body was found. The Ghanaian police say they are investigating the case, but many of his friends fear the case will be swept under the carpet so they reached out to the Nigerian media. Will bring an update later...

  36. If the case is swept under the carpet like linda u claim his frends said then its because the murderers are too sophisticated for the police whether in nigeria or ghana. ALUU 4 has not yet been resolved a ghanaian banker here in ghana was murdered a few months ago it has not been resoved its not because its a foreigner that the gh police will not do anything west african police be it nigeria ghana togo etc find it difficult solving crimes like this

  60. Oh Linda! You need to see the picture of this boy's murder! The truth is, there have been series of attacks on Nigerian Students in that University and on many occasions nothing was done, the Ghana police never respond or act on anything that has to do with Nigerians in that school. Everytime anything happens to any Nigerian Student, they say they are investigating and at the end of the day, the matter is swept under the carpet and no one hears anything about it again. Its almost a week now since the incident happened and no one has said anything, not even a word or any information from the school authority on the incident. The school's radio station only wrote a condolence message to the boy's family on their facebook page(Atl fm 100.5Mhz).can you imagine that? Now where is the Nigerian Embassy as a whole or the Ambassador who is responsible for Nigerians in Ghana? Meanwhile, Nigerians pay 7 times the school fees of one Ghanaian, yet, there are no security measures put in place for the safety of the students. The Nigerian Government and Authorities should please not ignore this one, they should please look into the matter and if possible drag this matter with them oooo, and even, sue the school sef. Nigerians cannot be treated like this and nothing is done about it. Wasn't it a similar case with the Nigerian boy who was killed by a driver in cyprius or which country is it again sef, a lot of parents live in hunger to give their children the best of education as our government have failed to put our educational system in order. Now,they'll call the poor boy's parents to say that their son who they sent alive to school at the University of CapeCoast Ghana, has been murdered by some unknown person(s). What gain is in that? A 300Level students who has almost completed his education! If nothing is done about this, then many innocent blood will cry for vengence one day and people who are in positions of authority who should have acted but failed to, would not be spared by God's grace. #Enough Said#

  113. Wow .. i was in ghana for a while in uni. This issue of borrowing money is a very big one. People borrow money and then never pay back.... i borrowed some money from my uncle for a friend in dire need .and never got it back..it was relayed to my dad.. he was pissed but told me not to worry.. most of the nigerian students in ghana are young as it is direct entry with just waec. And they learn the hard way... the ghaniansare not as young as the entry is not as easy..thus they can easily manipulate their nigerian younger friends... therr is the ISH.. int student hostel..but not all nigerians get in so they mix nigerians in ghanian halls with ghanian room mates.. which breeds a lot of jealousy and envy from ghanian for their fellow nigerians hall mates as they are most of the time more comfortable and have more money available.. however nigerians still borrow from nigerians and it still turns out messy when money is not paid back..just that ghanians know it is their territory and can be more brutal than nigerians when iy comes to money issues... whereas a nigerian will avoid you and not pay back a ghanian will threaten you or be brutal as they have pple to rely on to deal with you. .. sadly these kind of things would prob lead nigerians to start forming gangs/cults to defend themselves.. let us fast forward to 5 years and see.

  116. It's time our embassies abroad should wake up and do their primary assignment of protecting their citizens in their country of assignment. The government should strengthen our academic system to minimize out flock of our children trying to pursuer their education outside the shores of our country. Even when some of these schools are not accredited not to talk of the exorbitant school fees they charge.

  117. Nigerians do you know the latest on this saga. The fact that they killed Nigerian citizen is not enough for them, there is a gang up to jail Nigerians!

We all must rise and say no to these. Enough is enough .

Governor of Lagos state Mr Fashola, the house chair person for Nigerians in diaspora Mme Abike Dabrii please we are calling your attention to this matter. The ministry of foreign affairs, ministry of justice, the police. We are asking for your quickly intervention before it becomes too late.
