Say what? Dubai prince halts planes from flying to conduct interview

BBC reporter Jon Sopel explains how, during an exclusive BBC interview with Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE, and constitutional monarch of Dubai, halted planes in the sky in order for the interview to take place. (The roar of aircraft engines was making a lot of noise and they stopped planes from flying). Now, that's power!

    2. It cant be Nigeria. We dont have a royal family or ruler. Nigeria is a nation, practicing democracy. We will say all kinds of things to GEJ if he dares such a thing bc that is what democracy is, its for the people, by the people. No one should oppress the people that elected you to office. Only time you should enact "no fly", should be in matters of national security which includes risk to the president on the Nigerian Airforce, other than that, its a misuse of power. So, no comparison there diamondblinqZ.

  51. Sheik Makhtoom deserves whatever rights he exercises and more. That's someone whose visionary leadership help put an otherwise backwater desert town on the global stage. He has earned his people's respect such that if he says jump, they will ask 'how high'.

Abeg pray for your own cluless leaders and stop swallowing phensic for other people's toothache.

  57. Linda, this headline is misleading. You say he halted the plane like he just put up his hand, and the planes all stopped!!! Rather the next day was the interview, and there were no planes. It just means they sent a message to reroute the planes...fine dats still power though!!The American presidents does dis all the time.....
