How cute pics of father tending to his daughters caused uproar online

The bashing on the internet is sometimes unbelievable. Photos that are supposed to be described as cute and loving is being highly criticized. Doyin Richards, a Los Angeles-based Nigerian father and blogger who is currently taking a paternity leave of absence, posted the pics you see above of himself tending to his daughters on his blog - Daddydoinwork.com while his wife went off to work and this incurred the wrath of his readers.

The images, which went viral, had some of his readers lashing him viciously, calling him a lazy man who should be out looking for a job instead of taking pride in staying at home, looking after his girls and sharing photos on the internet. Lol. Unbelievable! Continue...

Doyin said he took the pictures so he could prove to his mixed-race wife that he could tend to their two young daughters, a 2 year old and a 6 months old, all alone.

Doyin wrote:

Well, his readers didn't find it funny and abused the shit out of him...lol. See some comments below..

  8. Well......Linda to be honest, if he married a Naija woman, he would not be doing this. I appreciate what he did but lets be honest, African men dont do this when they marry African women, which is wrong! ALL FATHERS should tend to their kids this way.

    4. Ur wrong anon 1:55pm. I was born and raised here in naija and my wife was rasied same. Just this Christmas following the departure of my housemaid I had to go on leave for 3 weeks to take care of my 2 dotas while my wife worked. I did EVERYTHING in the house from cooking to changing diapers to cleaning d bathrooms and sweeping. I took my kids to d salon and waited for dia hair to be made. AND IT'S NO BIG DEAL. On the contrary u discover the beauty of parenting. Except u were raised wrongly I deeply understand wot mutual respect is in a marriage and in the home. I have a maid now and things are back to normal and I've gone back to my banking job BUT id gladly do it all over again!!!!!!!

    5. So not true. I'm an Edo chick married to an Edo man and my husband tends to the kids when I'm not around. From giving them a bath, combing and giving my daughter a ponytail to changing diapers and a lot more. My guy does all that and he's a not a stay at home dad but earns well working in oil and gas. It's not about being naija but an individual thing. Yes, we live in Canada and he would still do these things if we were in Nigeria because that's just who he is.

    6. I disagree wit u totally. I am a nigerian woman who lives in nigeria and married to a nigerian man. He runs his own bizness and I do a 9- 5pm job. He practically takes care of d home all I do is cook and he is a millionaire dealing in real estate. Its wat u tell pple outside dat dey will "see" and read meanings to. He wants me to quit my job wen I am 35yrs old but for now he is doing all d baby sitting witout issh.

    10. I second that. My dad is 69 yrs, limps from an accident 2005, but still loves to help out. We r just two girl they gave birth to though we hv a precious Bro now who is adopted, 6yrs old now, everyone loves and spoils him rotten. He is with my folks. My elder sis 33 is married and i am single 32. My sis and i both live in lagos. Working. Parents in Enugu. I travelled to help out for xmas cos d nanny stopped work. Just some days back the day we travelled to the villa, the meat (a considerable amount) we bought from lokpanta needed to be washed, mumsy who had a heart condition was beat same with urs truly cos my bro has cerebral palsy and needs 2-4-7 attention plus he gets fretful in a place he doesn't know so well, there was no one else with us, plus we got in late at night, after mumsy tried half-heartedly to sigh about how me or her needed to get d meat washed guess who stayed up from 12 midnight till around 1am washing meat and offals and stacking them in fridge. Mumsy and i woke up in d mrg so touched at what he has done. There are so many things my dad did as a kid growing up, I can't begin to mention here, he had just 2 girls my sis and i, he dotes on mumsy till date, pampers us till date. My roomy in d uni then who comes from a broken home used to envy me then at the type of support system I had, my parents call almost everyday. I pray with all my heart my future hussy is half the man he is. Some men, Naija men, are wonderful.

    4. I actually thought bonario was a really cool and enlightened guy, didn't realise he is just a fake feeling funky. If you cannot do that for your children without caring what people would say then you are indeed a fake. My husband helps whenever he can without batting an eyelids, he earns correct money and I also work and I respect and submit to him more because of the way he cares for his kids. They love the attention he showers on them. Although traditionally it is my responsibility, he actually wants to be a part of tending to them.... Grow up bonario and move with the times

    6. My father is an accomplished engr with d uttermost respect..he carried myself and my younger siblings on his back with a wrapper...cooked when my mum was too tired or sometimes for d heck of it n still made out time for work..if ur ego is too large to care for the most important people in your life then you have way bigger issues to tackle my friend.

    7. It's high time u realized that a guy using the word "duh" or saying it to prove a point ain't cool. You should hv left that in 2013. Also, taking care of your kids doesn't make you a half man, it only makes u a loving supportive father and husband. But saying "duh" makes u come off as a winnie. Something a half man is even better dan. Go figure bonario.

Linda dear! there is nothing wrong with what the man did, that's a wonderful husband in the making, a down to earth man and husband, a loving and caring husband, that's really the kind of husband I want to be, a husband that lends a hand when the wife is not around, or when the wife is sick, or a couple of months pregnant or when the wife is away like the case of this man! A man that cooks for himself when the wife is not around, instead of going to buy food

Well I am not suprised cos my own elder sister reacted almost same way whn I was 9mths pregnt. My Dr had insisted I stop wrk & go on a bed rest after I fell from the stairs and my blood pressure was high. It was my sis's first time visiting us
in the Usa. she saw my hubby giving my daughter a bath and later saw him in the
kitchen cooking. I decide to let her do the whole chores since it was a crime form my hubby to do them but after 2days she started complaining!!!! Lmboo!! She has 2 nannies at her beck n call. I told her welcome to america, a land of do it yourself. Even president obama takes her daughers to school and helps with their homework. Some people should grow up and let others bond with their kids!!!!

My husband always helps in changing kids nappy, bath them, dress them and babysit them when am working at the weekends and he takes so much pleasure in doing it. I don't understand. People should not generalise issues. What this guy did is cool and many black men are really helping their wives out, I am a living witness.

  117. There is nothing wrong with a hubby helping his lovely wife at home. Women need support from men, not just dropping money. What am even saying? so don't even drop money for their family upkeep, women will go to work, shop, come back, cook, wash, serve, clean, take care of kids still above all bring money for food her hubby suppose to bring and still satisfy him in bed. Nigerian men should wake up. Love ur way man keep it up God will reward you. Nigerian men u people commit sin of omission always.

  120. Some people have the guts to condemn a loving and caring father- I HAFF TIRED!!Ignorant black people displaying their ignorance and racism for the world to see. I pray to have such a loving and caring husband. Lemme hear you shout AMENNNNN!!!

    ReplyDelete
  121. human beings are just insatiable. These are the same set of people that would turn up and go 'I bet their father was never there for them when they were kids'; should the kids turn out a menace to society. And so what if His wife is white?! #BlogReadersWithMisplacedPriorities

  122. I don't see any thing wrong in what he is doing besides he was just helping out and I think he is a "9ice daddy"

    ReplyDelete
  123. Unfortunately, I was not privileged to have a father or a husband like this!! this is awesome and commendable. Haters are jealous!

    ReplyDelete
  124. wen will people realize that parenting is for both parents and not the woman alone, i love this man, b'cos he just proved that he is a loving and caring father, those kids are for both of them and not for the women and both parents shd have a joint responsibility in tending to them, it is only our Nigerian/African mentality that sees it parenting as the woman's duty.

  125. People must talk with their big mouths.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I don't see anything wrong in the picture. It is called co-parenting. My husband does the same thing. I leave the house before him for work and we both wake up early in the morning to take care of the boys. Sometimes when I wake late due to tiredness, he tells me babe I got this, go get dressed and go to work. He will take care of the boys including breakfast, drop them off at the daycare and go to work.... So people insulting him are probably thinking upside down and leave their wives to do all the chores and stuff. Naija men with shallow thinking...SMH

Pls get over this thinking . Have you forgotten that my Sallary will make a diffrence irrespective what my husband earns?

  141. Actually I don't think this is because he's looking after the kids though that's wonderful and that's what I'd want in my husband. If you read what people are saying, they seem more annoyed that he married outside of his race.

    ReplyDelete
  142. According to Flavor: 'anything you do they must talk' this world is so hypocritical, especially the black race! We want equal rights (supposedly) for both race, but don't really practise it!
Black American women are so insecure that anytime a black man marries out of his race, they feel threatened! Why is that?!
F*ck this sh*t!!!! I will do the same thing if I were in his shoe! F*ck the world jor. Hilary Obiorah.

  143. Awwwwww such beautiful pictures. They made me smile. Forget people, they always talk. Be a good dad so that one day, when you are old and grey, you'll have no regrets for not being there for them. Unlike my parents and lots of other African parents.

  147. Why are people saying African don't help African wife, my husband helps to take care of our daughter and I go to work. We once posted a picture where he was carrying her at the back. A loving father is always proud to help no matter their race. Way to go Doyin!

  148. I see nothing wrong with the pic I stay in the states and this happens in my household it takes two, who said taking care of your kids is a woman’s job? My brother inlaw that stays in naija takes good care of his kids this way also and he’s a bank manager. If we ask our men to help us and they do please don’t rain abuses on them and just giving out money for school fees and stuff does not define you raising your kids great job MR.

  152. As I browse through LIB, my hubby is on the floor playing and feeding our 10mth old daughter... After which he will change her diaper, cause I just asked him (kindly) to do so. Again, I spent majority of today with her, so he understands. We are both Nigerian and she is our first.

Every real man would love to be completely involved in his children's lives. As a mother you should be comfortable leaving your baby/ies with their dad for crying out loud!
I think the Nigerian society causes people to think differently For all its worth, we live in the US.

  154. Well, If you don't like what he is doing then Jump into the river. And besides , what made you think Nigerian or African men don't do it to their African Women? I think were most of these haters live are full of hate ...so not blaming them. Them never see love before ....

  155. The world has really changed, it has turned upside down. There is nothing bad in what the guy is doing by giving a helping hands and tender cares to his loving family. Despite the fact that is is written in the Quran to treat your woman with uttermost respect, some of your Muslim fellows would still see you as a woman wrapper. There are some work of work that is meant for a husband only at home but reverse is the case. Among husband works is to go to the market to shop for the family in terms of food stuff as a case study but any man that do that in this computer age will be classified as mumu but who cares when you are having a lovely atmosphere with your family.

    # I had seen some instances whereby a Muslim man was fetching well water for his home while some other Muslims are mocking and gossiping about it and it is a work for a Man but everything has turned upside down.

#I laughed when i heard some people saying Islam do not have a respect for a ladies but the religion is a complete religion but people practicing it today are doing it in a reversible way

How do u expect not to be racially abused by the whites when you are racial even to a fellow blackman.sigh# Talking about he wont do it if his wife was black. I've seen many a man tend to their kids even when their wife is fully nigerian. These saddist bashing him should get a life. Heck i'd do the same if i were in his shoes...ace
