ReplyDeleteLIGHT ON THE ANTI-GAY BILL by 'Timmy Okungbowa.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to know Mr President, his cabinet and the parliament aren't this time biased on the recently passed into law anti-gay bill unlike the female marriage age bill. Yet, this anti-gay law is in question. I know at this moment, some will start thinking I'm not a christian. Well, I really am and it's beyond any doubt.
I just read that the President of Uganda refused to sign an anti-gay bill into law and he gave genuine reasons. You can search for it online. I read it and felt like, when are we gonna have intellectual and humane political leaders? Truth be said, God is against gay, humanity is against it, gay is something unimaginable to me, it's a nasty trash.
One of the things that really touched my heart about the Ugandan President's speech is 'the economy'. He said the economy has to be okay before they start passing bills into law.
Think about it, the economy is bad, even a graduate hardly gets a good job these days; I was on a blog and someone made a comment: 'thank God after 8years of graduating, I got a job of #22,500'. Imagine!
Our leaders are crap, they know nothing about leadership, they do things according to their emotions which ought not to be. Do you lead people based on sentiments? It's an absolute no!
Now, anyone suspected to be gay is lawful to spend 14years of his life behind bars.
In my very sincere opinion, one of the reasons these men get involved in such act is the economy. Like I said, a graduate hardly gets employed. An unemployed man finds it hard to have a woman of his choice or let me say finds it hard to have a woman and consequentially, he gets sex starved. Since he's got no job, females can't surely be after him. He's got no source of income, which is the most popular among youths both educated and uneducated. If he finds two, three of four men like him - who are in same shoes as he and are also sex starved, there's a high possibility of satisfying their needs themselves(the men). Improve the economy and this condition changes.
If I may ask; the prison they are, are they gonna be alone? Won't they be with men like them? Now, does the 14year sentence stop them from being gay? It only promotes the act! What the 14year sentence means is this: if you're a gay, you and your partner will be in prison for continuity and will enjoy fourteen really good years together, you also stand a chance to have once a life time experience with other high-class gay men without interruption. It doesn't make a profound improvement on the nation and the persons.
Why not flag off a campaign that encourages gay men to show forth confidently, oragnise a seminar in a church, invite real christian leaders to open their shut eyes and minds? This way, you're giving succour to the oppressed - that's what government is all about - for the people, not against the people.
Also, there are certain things you shouldn't interfere in in people's lives. Why should you tell me to stop taking breakfast 'cos your son gets greedy whenever he sees me eat my delicious meal? Or why should you tell a university student to stop schooling simply because you're not yet admitted? The government has no right to infringe on human rights. Since my freedom isn't detrimental, then what problem of yours is it? If this same people couldn't infringe on the females' marriage age, then why on males' sex life?
Gay is a nasty act, yet, even Christ said He never came to condemn, He came for the lost sheep like you and me. Though, religious leaders have been commending the President for a job well done but what else would they have said?
People, it's high time we had creative thinkers, intellectual and humane homosapiens in our government.
Timmylehyn Okungbowa,
08167665426.
So wetin make we use your number do?
Deletemany tnx to d numerous frnds dt av called and encouraged me. God bless!

DeleteWell said Samira.
DeleteIsn't Geneviève an english name & isn't he english? Y then is he pronouncing it like that?
ReplyDeleteAlso genny pple like 2 know celebrity biz in evry part of d world
No, Genevieve is not an english name. It is french and that is the correct way to pronounce it
DeleteHe is Canadian duh!!! They speak both French and English and besides...Genevieve is a French name
DeleteIt depends on the spelling and a mono like you spelt it the French way and asked if it was English. And obviously they speak French in Canada. So my dear he pronounced it correctly
DeleteGenevieve is a french name
DeleteShe looked smart and her answers intelligent and on point.
ReplyDeleteLove her disposition throughtout the interview, she was so comfortable.
~BONARIO~says so via NOKIA3310
Watch again. She was nervous at first
DeleteNaa. Ure d only one who thinks that. She dint get his questions ryt, she jus blabbed wat she knew. And his questions weren't even hard to begin with. She looked DAMN good tho. But she's always clueless and unprepared for interviews.
DeleteBonario..lie lie. U sure sey you watch this thigh so ? Abi u just made it up. Yimu !
DeleteWatched the "thigh" kwa? For what?
DeleteU notice how u asked her a question and she goes 'you know what' meaning 'let me say the one I know' but it wud hv been ok 2 say d movie is centred around Nigeria

ReplyDeleteMadam or Oga, her name is of french descent
ReplyDeleteAll i see in Gene is Dbanj!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDats d french pronounciation of her name...
ReplyDeleteJay1
this babe is making Nigerians proud, and i love her shoes. as for her name, that's the correct pronunciation as the name is not English, i think it's french
ReplyDeleteGenny of life. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWow! I really adore her.She is a role model, inspite the challenge she had as a teenager, that dint stop her,she kept moving, and look where she is today.Genevieve you are an inspiration .I wunt stop until i get there,it might take a little time, but i know i will definitely get there.
ReplyDeleteApparently, even Genevieve and other Nigerians don't know how to pronounce her name........its pronounced just the way the guy says it "djon vi yave", and its of french origin.
ReplyDelete@anon 12:49....genevieve is not an english name...its a french name...hence the pronunciation.....intelligent answers....nice!
ReplyDeleteGenny my lady, Carry go! U too much.

ReplyDelete#PashMeNa
Abeg mk una help me pronounce the man name again.........
ReplyDeleteFrench people pronounce the name differently... Jun-vi-eve. And not all Canadians speak English as their first language. For some, I'm guessing this guy as well, it's French.
ReplyDeleteI dunno sha, haven't seen the clip so just assuming
Fine woman. Kudos to u
ReplyDeleteshe look lovely.. but ders nofin smart about her answers.. do your home work well b4 u go on talk shows miss..and know your history else ul be lost 4 words like u were here .. am only 24 but my parents told me a thing or 2 about the war growing up read books too.. half of a yellow sun is dated back 06/07 wen i first read it..culd u nt ve made an attempt to know a bit more to keep the conversation smartly going especially since u deemed it wise to acknowledge urself as igbo.. it was our struggle.. again know ur history madam ... the host knows more than she does.. shame.. but i still love u miss nnaji just work on it...
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you. I cant believe how shaky she was, especially being such an experienced actress. It also shows that she didn't prepare for the interview. Her lack of preparedness was also apparent from the lack of intelligence in her answers. She couldn't even say wat awards the book won or why the movie is special, how it is different from other movies or how it can touch other non Nigerians. The interview is supposed to promote the movie in Canada, but after this interview if im not Nigerian my interest has not been piqued. Two options: she can either hire someone to prep her for interviews or she can watch interviews from other A lists actresses.
DeleteI was also disappointed on how she reacted to the Oprah gist. That would have been a good way to sell herself, but her answer made it seem like she wasn't deserving of Oprah's attention when indeed she is bcos shes an amazing actress.
Shut da fuck up.....not every parent discussed such history with their kids....i got to know more of the biafran war when ojukwu died....so shut your dirty mouth up...would u have rather preferred she lied cos she was coming for a talk show....mtcheeeew itk
DeleteNice 1 genny, i so love dis lady very intelligent and well composed..
ReplyDeleteNice 1
ReplyDeleteGenevieve is still basic to Lupita Nyongo's standard! Getting interviewed by a canadian station (d same country whr d movie was premiered) isn't really a big deal! You nollywood actresses need to start acting world class movies and breaking into hollywood n stop dese publicity of getting interviewed especially u and omotola! If A-list actresses like y'all r stl basic to a small girl 4rm kenya, well I dnt blame F-list actresses like chika ike 4 tryin to shove her yam face down our throats! Linda post this! Oshey
ReplyDeleteYou should probably know that Lupita graduated from Yale. As much as Genny is a good actress, its very difficult to break into any American society especially if ur not from there or they haven't schooled you. Even Chiwetel had it difficult breaking into american movie industry though he grew up in UK. Americans are just that way. They won't accept you unless they know they ve trained you.
DeleteEnuf wif d comparison already..... Lupita is no doubt a very good actress but saying Genny is basic to Lupita is wrong.Lupita is a graduate of hamsphire college wif a degree in film and theatre studies n subsequently attended Yale school of drama which is kind of a big deal cos COMMON we talking about YALE n she appeared in many stage productions there so it's only natural that she crossed paths wif Brad Pitt n Genny on d other hand didn't attend YALE OR JUILLIARD but worked her way up to where she is today with her natural acting talent n is still trying to make a name for herself so please FREE THE BABE!
Delete'Basic'...really. When wud u guys just celebrate a person without tryn to downplay on their success. It makes no sense at all. Well at least u can compare Genny againt Lupita...how about yourself
DeleteHer Chanel bag could have paid for her to attend Yale or something similar..
DeleteOde, chanel bag could have paid for to attend yale? That's y u'd remain a dumb anonymous sadist on llib
DeleteNo wonder my Otunba Charming is Nuts over her....lol, her total aura is effortless. priceless.
ReplyDeleteNice 1
ReplyDeleteGenny is truly a nigerian...stiLl has the girl thing in her
ReplyDeleteOkay... Nice one!
ReplyDeleteJEEZ!!! SHE IS SOOO NERVOUS!!!
ReplyDelete@bonaro or wet in be ur name, intelligence . What do you know about intelligence, errand boy feeling funky.
ReplyDeleteBut really, she is terrible at interviews! Kai!
ReplyDeleteMenhhhh u make sense joor always represting naija luv u. GHANAGIRL

Thats what a true celeb do, featured in a Talk Show in Canada, You can take that to the bank, not some cheap I must be on the news kinda people, who go to the extent of showing us their wack 2014 calender shoot or their trip to hotels abroad with someone's husband! Genny U rock #TrueStar
ReplyDeleteGenevieve is not an English name so e pronounced it correctly. It can b pronounced as GEN-uh-veev or the French zhahn-vee-EV. Anyways she is still our own. Jeneviv! Love u girl!
ReplyDeleteGenny sell nollywood internationally than any other actor or actress in nigeria, she is just to talented and classy to be compared kudos girl,u rock,u don't hv second.
ReplyDeleteShe just nailed it there.. Keep on repping for naija darline.. But if you dont go down the aisle with dbanj, na there you go fall ma hand oooo. #justsaying!!
ReplyDeleteDJ STELCH

DeleteThis is pretty awesome; genevieve is simply best. She has bn profiled by oprah, interviewed twice on cnn by the world's leading journalists Pedro pinto and becky Anderson, featured in international magazine such as Forbes, arise magazine, elle mag etc and this interview in Canada. All hail the queen of nollywood
ReplyDeleteI love her confidence and sense of humour. U rock Genny!
ReplyDeleteGud 4 her.
ReplyDeleteNice one girl
ReplyDeleteNice one girl
ReplyDeleteLove Genny some more.she is soo smart.xoxo to the queen
ReplyDeleteLinda and the fear of Ms Nnaji...gosh! Wasn't this the show she was blasted by other bloggers for not knowing a thing about the Biafran war. Linda is not a fair reporter or blogger, you NEVER find anything wrong in what Genny or Omotola does, but you are quick with your stupid sacarsm when it comes to others....but you fail to know you're are bigger and much more influential that the two ladies. Pls grow up PERIOD!
ReplyDeleteGenny am soo proud of u hunny. In Oprahs voice lol
ReplyDeleteGene baby, God bless u jare, atleeast u are not taking pic in a hotel wif empty designers bag.
ReplyDeleteGenny darling u rock big time. U are a classy chic . Ʊя̲̅ outfit was so on point, Ʊя̲̅ answers so smart n intelligent. Keep repping naija. Kisses!
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteHow can anyone call her utterances intelligent?
She shows how ignorant she is about her own history.
She obviously didn't learn about her history before, during or after filming.
She can't even summarise what the book is about!!!!
she looked tensed a little tho but overall nice one girl
ReplyDeleteShe's so nervous and english isn't articulate, she need to brushen up,linda u shld hv save us d stress of posting diz
ReplyDeleteYes, ve said it b4 nd am saying it again, not dt am a fan of geneviv but she is a role model nd should be a role model to Nigerian youths nd not idolizn nd copying everything about riri nd Chris brow as well as Kim . I live in the Uk no one is freaking out about these Pple here!,
ReplyDeleteYeah, at first you seemed tensed but overall she is a charmer. It's not easy though, I got twice tensed watching than she did being interviewed, thumbs up to her and I guess the N.Industry still needs a lot of exposure but I believe they will get there, best of luck to Nollywood
ReplyDeleteGenny is world class, very classy and polished, one ignorant fellow made a comment to start comparing her to Omotola, pls there is no basis for comparison here, truth be told they are not of the same class/style!!!!!!!!!!!!! if you don't have it, you don't have it no matter how you try to fake or buy it,it keeps eluding you. Genny is class personified!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this is how it should be, she did not lie to impress unlike those who are struggling to catch up.
ReplyDeleteMy o! My. I love this girl.
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell me y the hall was so quiet while Genny spoke? If these whites guyz think we would be backward forever? THEY LIE!!!!
ReplyDeleteI've always loved this lady...had d major crush on her when I was much younger...prolly still do,lol. Nice interview but some of her comments honestly weren't really on point. Proud of u all the same.
ReplyDeleteMe I am just curious as to when Genevieve started slanging ...didn't know her to be someone who changed her accent ffor any interview. Suits her tho at least it doesn't sound fake like other actresses. ..:P
ReplyDeleteBecoz omotola went on CNN so...SHiorrr
ReplyDeleteThank God Linda you. Didn't say "my girl Genevieve Nnaji was on Canadian talk show, with George Stroumboulopoulos. Awww she is so cute.... Blah blah blah ....because na your. Way #starstruckninja. Interview. Don old you. Still post am by fire by force LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove u Gene but I av to tell u truth...U should av learn hw to summarise d book, before or after filming. Incase of next time
ReplyDeleteOmg!!! Ms genny I luv u so much.....u remains No 1 in d industry infact in african..........she was d first to be interview in oprah wifrey show ND Cnn, now is d canadian talk show......shey omotola abi omo sexy wan dye???? She no fit reach genny she is too fat nd big for my liky......08168612692 dat is my number I go follow ina argue reach ny were.....genny remains d queen in history nd ny tin u see omotola doing now is genny dat left d space for her....thumbs up ms genny.....
ReplyDeleteMadam U get time
Delete#GBAGAUN!!! -->it was written by Chimamanda, an 'award writer'....choi! Still have mad love for genny ooo, but please dont let ur nerves get the best of you next time
ReplyDeleteHian! We are in trouble if people feel that Genny's utterances to the question if the interesting changes that occurred in Africa when some of its countries got their independence were reflected in the film! It's either a yes or a no, then you go on to educate your listeners if you are well informed(and it is expected that you should be! You are representing yourself and your country and your colleagues in the movie!)
ReplyDeleteNo disputing the fact that she is well put together but abeg, let's call a spade a spade. I am not impressed.
Linda, better post o!
The fact is, it was painful to watch from the 1:03 time mark. Gosh!
ReplyDeleteOmg... My cruch......
ReplyDeleteMa dearest Genny always lukin calm..beta pikin!!
ReplyDeleteI love this woman like crazy. I envy her daughter soo much. Love in interview
ReplyDeleteAll ds oversabi dem dat r fond of abusing celebrities, doz 1s comparing dem wf foreign celebs nd at d end bringin our repute to naught, God is watching u in 3D. Its jes to hide away and type 100 lines of comments, if a camera is placed in front of u, u won't evn b able to type 1 line. Y u not relevant enuf to go to canada and replace genny 4 us. O yes members!
ReplyDeleteOhh WOW my lady is always looking fabolous.
ReplyDeleteREADING SOME COMMENTS HERE confirms what I've always said. The confusion over the Franco vs. Anglo pronunciation of Genevieve is exactly why you should name your kids native names, and not names that you don't understand. She was for sure nervous, being surrounded by oyinbos I guess LOL, but she did okay. Also as a celebrity on a national/ international show, you don't say things like African or black people can be dramatic. It's not seen in good taste to publicly speak like that. See how no one reacted? Get yourself a publicist that will prep you for these type of interviews. When you get on Rubbin' Minds and the rest of them in naija, you can say whatever pleases you. Good luck Ms. Nnaji.
ReplyDeleteShe be ma fine fine fine lady
ReplyDelete@least linda got you the gist mitch(if you're a male) and bitch(if you're a female)
ReplyDeleteI wasn't impressed wit d way she answered her question... N pls stop calling her naija's role model cos she isn't my role model... Aunty Genny go marry n take care of a home den u'll be a complete woman #dazzlingak#
ReplyDeleteMiss Adebayo, reading the novel,I knew that can only be you...,can wait to kiss you someday, but for my gf,you could have been the real Mrs Adebayo..lol like my friend would say.....bayo wake up,stop dreaming
ReplyDeleteMiss Adebayo, reading the novel,I knew that can only be you...,can wait to kiss you someday, but for my gf,you could have been the real Mrs Adebayo..lol like my friend would say.....bayo wake up,stop dreaming
ReplyDeleteWe have to stop coddling our stars. Ordinarily Genevieve is poised and articulate. Here, she's halting and wanting. Her answer to the history question was breezy. Her statement about the target population of her foundation; "... Female children between the ages of 18 and 24" is erroneous. There are adult women in that cohort.
ReplyDeleteHer performance in the movie was mediocre at best. And then the interview... This type of exercise is an opportunity to promote the movie by bringing up awareness about the subject matter but madam decided to appear dumb and dazed...
ReplyDeletethis chic is too matured i love her and everything about her kiss kiss nnaji DNT MIND UR FELLOW NOLLYWOOD ACTRESS THAT ARE BUSY TAKING PICS OF BAGS AND PICTURES OF THEM SELFS IN 2 STARS HOTEL ABROAD PROSTITUTING AND SAY IS VACATION HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
ReplyDeletethis is amazing im glad to see her going places

Was she there as a former actress cos she has left the industry.
ReplyDeleteNothing new..she is broke actress..
ReplyDeleteBtw,the talk show host is greek and not canadian.thank me later!
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't hv detailed knowledge of Nigerian and African history. I doubt if she read the book or she just concentrated on her part.
ReplyDeleteNot so impressed with the way she answered questions. But all the same, she try sha.
The journalist seems to be French. He pronounced her name with a typical French accent .
Since last year?Abeg!!!
ReplyDeleteChimamanda is an award writer, Genevieve that is completely laughable. When they tell you to go to School una go refuse.
ReplyDeleteHow is dt wrong?Wt shd she v said?
DeleteI dont like her responses tho any way #team genny all d way
ReplyDeleteNot impressed - I've never seen any of her movies, but is she not supposed to be one of the elite in Nigeria's movie industry? Inarticulate, clueless, very disappointing. Maybe she was nervous - hopefully, she'll learn from this and do some media training. On the world stage, this performance does not cut it. At all.
ReplyDeleteShe was calm and articulate. However, you can tell she knows next to nothing about Nigerian (or African) history. It was a good interview.
ReplyDeleteI so much this girl, welldone genny, you are still the best
ReplyDeleteI so much this girl, welldone genny, you are still the best
ReplyDeleteGene world class!!! go girl
ReplyDeleteGenny babe, you are an amazing young woman, thanks for representing Nigeria very well, I just love you.
ReplyDeleteShe did fantastically!! I'm very proud! It reminds me to be the best I can be; be diligent in my work and I too will stand before princes and be celebrated.
ReplyDeletelet the competition continue.
ReplyDelete@genny vs omo T.
Genny babe ,u are too much, thank for representing nigeria
ReplyDeleteBonario, are u sure u watched this vid, pls watch it again. her answers weren't intelligent, she was nervous, didn't really like the makeup, her dress was fab. like some one advised she should get a publicist or something to help with these things. I Love Genny till tomorrow tho.
ReplyDelete
