Anti-gay law: Bishop Matthew Kukah commends president Jonathan

Social critic, commentator and the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Matthew Kukah,  has commended President Jonathan for the express signing into law of the anti-gay bill that would criminalize all forms of same sex relationships in Nigeria.

He expressed his approval and delight with the signing into law at a media roundtable held in Sokoto State. He also expressed his gratitude to the National Assembly for expediting action on the bill.

The bishop said; "I also want to commend the National Assembly for the zeal and enthusiasm with which they passed the bill. As far as I am concerned, anybody who lives in Nigeria and most parts of Africa knows that culturally, religiously and morally, this is not our life and culture".

  37. Oh yeah. What does the Bishop say about Boko Haram ravaging the North? Doesn't he feel it would be more beneficial for the lawmakers and President to prioritise the eradication of Boko Haram, and other ills in Nigeria? Is gay marriage even an issue in Nigeria? Even the Pope, whom every catholic is meant to obey, is not homophobic. He would not support this stupid, barbaric, law. The two topmost Christian priests, the Pope and Archbishop of Canterbury, have a more civilized, humane approach. This Bishop in Sokoto is misguided to say the least.
