Snow in Cairo, Egypt for the first time in over 100 years

For the first time in over 100 years, a winter storm has brought snow to a city known for its heat and sand, Cairo in Egypt.


According to local reports, it happened over night and unexpectedly on Wednesday Dec. 11th. An official of Egypt's Meteorological centre said it was first time in decades since the last snowfalls and it took residents of Cairo suburbs by surprise. But most are delighted because they have never seen snow before.They took to Twitter to post their amazement in words and shared pictures


The snowfall has forced the closure of the country's ports and several other businesses for a days now. Who wants snow in Nigeria?

    Linda it's simple climate change.....it can happen in Naija becos countries that doesn't have cold weathers are now experiencing cold weather, and some countries that are known for been too cold during winters, no longer feel it anymore...too much of rocket launch, satellite launch and what have I has destroyed the earth..it's simpe climate change.

    Wow... I always wondered what it would be like to have snow here in naija, even if. there is no snow @ least it would be cooler and if it snows alotta things would change, winter jackets wld sell etc, the streets would look neater and more tidy cos u won't have alotta pple just hanging

    I just wonder how they will be able to cope with the after effects of snow...clearing the snow off the roads and spraying salt all over the roads of cairo...very expensive, meanwhile its snowing like crazy here in Maryland, the whole east coast, and I just freaking washed my car from the last snow..damn!
