Pastor Tunde Bakare reportedly rejects cow from the Presidency

According to reports, Latter Rain Assembly founder, Pastor Tunde Bakare got a cow and hampers from the presidency as a Christmas gift. Pastor Bakare said the cow and hampers were dropped at his Save Nigerian Group (SNG) office in Lagos, but he rejected the gift because 'a cow is not what president Jonathan should be giving to people now but a country that works'.

    2. Do you have an idea how many cows were bought and for how many more people? I agree 120k won't help naija but 120k multiplied by only-God-knows-how-many can surely give some remote village portable water. SMH

    3. Because he understands more than you dumb ass that it is still the nation's money he used to buy them. By the time they say Aw much they spent on the cows now u start to shout. Thank God he isn't can president.

  9. Damn! When Politics and bitterness has eaten deep into the fabric of a man's soul, what is left is just a mere shadow of his body....A cow as a Christmas gift means no harm. I am pretty sure The President wasn't try to buy Tunde Bakare on his side but he just wanted to celebrate in the spirit of the season.
At least there has to be one day of the year when politicians, rivals can drop whatever bitterness and animosity they have towards each other and celebrate, call for peace, prayers....for the country.

A Nigeria that work, if that's what Pastor Tunde Bakare wants starts from accepting a Christmas gift that doesn't entail monetary offer, and said gift does not compromise his ability to air his views irrespective of political affliations or denomination or position.

A Nigeria that works need all everyone of us to behave in a mature and advanced way..... It begins with the little things......

  24. It's a gift for Pete's sake, a Christmas gift. Must we politicise everything?? Everybody gives gifts: poor, rich, wealthy, hungry, wicked, good and all. Gifts are not only for when things are good but can be given when they are bad too. I just hope he rejects the offerings of the poor in his church as well, cos they need it to survive and live...

Why can't people leave GEJ alone, everyday we hear PDP is finished, GEJ is a dullard, GEJ won't win come 2015, APC has taken control, Dame Patience is an illiterate, GEJ this, GEJ that. Let us leave this man alone, and wait till 2015 when he and PDP will be flushed out. APC old and new Governors should concentrate on the governance of their states and stop all these noise that will take us nowhere. There is hardly any day that Gov Amaechi or Nasir El Rufai will not have anything negative to say about GEJ, it has become a blind obsession. Please give us a break, and wait for that 2015 when you saints will take over power.

    ReplyDelete
  126. I was actually thinking it's another Facebook joke that Oga Jonah gave a cow to Pastor Tunde Bakare for Christmas but it's not a joke. What a pity! Although, the pastor turned it down.

Whoever advised the president to send that cow gift is his arc-enemy and he should fire the person right away.

Now, i have to reason out loud. Did the president send cows to other pastors too? I mean pastors like Adeboye, Chris Okotie, David Oyedepo, Ayo Oristejafor etc. Did they accept it or they all turned it down too?

Apparently, the president still doesnt know what the people need. Nothing is wrong in giving gift but to send a cow to a pastor for Christmas is quite below the belt for me. Was he expecting the pastor to store up his refrigerator with the meat or share it with his congregations? It just doesnt make sense. A N50 season's greeting card would have been enough but an oil rig would have been better

  133. Pastor Bakare can afford 2 buy 50cows if he wants. He does not need a gift from d president. D president should put all d money he's spending on buying gift 2 pple who don't need dem 2geda 2 do meaningful things 4 d massed. Govt shld put our money in 2 good use & not squander it on things dat are temporal.

  138. He rejected the cow simply because he thinks he deserves better than that. If GEJ had given him N1b would he reject it? Or is he trying to say that nobody has ever tried to buy/bribe him. Why hasnt he gone public about the gift from other govt officials. NONESENSE.
