Bode George no longer ex-convict - Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of Nigeria today quashed all charges of corruption earlier leveled against PDP Chieftain and close pal of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Bode George. The Supreme Court Judges headed by Justice Afolabi Fabiyi while passing their verdict said the charges of contract splitting brought against Mr Bode George by the EFCC was unknown to the law at the time he was convicted of the crime.

A Lagos high court judge, Justice Joseph Olubunmi Oyewole on Oct 2009 convicted Chief Bode George and 5 others for corruption and diversion of funds totalling N84billion when they served on  the board of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA. He was sentenced to 2 years imprisonment and was released Feb 26 2011. So now, he's no longer an ex-convict.

    3. This is quite funny. Bode was arrested, investigated, convicted, and sentenced to 2 years in prison. He served his sentence and all of a sudden his conviction and prison sentence is cancelled. This cannot be because 2015 elections are coming up. Also notice that the judge didn't say he was innocent of the crimes. And this fool stole billions and was given two years now the two years has been wiped from the record books. Hahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahaha is the best response for these fools. Former bayelsa gov now is jumping around saying all sorts of shit. Do these guys think they are leading illiterates? Abi they think we don't understand English? His crimes were unknown to law? Abeg whose job is it to make his crimes known? Make we just start comedy series about naija politics e go sell die. Shekina

  81. My heart bleeds when I see corrupt public officers like Bode George on TV and at social functions, when they should be cooling off in jail for disloyalty and unfaithfulness to the nation. He was fraudulent as a Military Governor in Ondo-State and also went to NPA and exhibited his usual Lagos boy's smartness..I can see the hand of Hon. Justice Bode Rhodes-Vivour at work... I wish him goodluck in the lawless country.

He is yet to tell us what happened to d 16 billion $ electricity contract which he awarded to his allies that never saw d light of d day. Siemens and halliburton scandle which him and his daughter were indicted, no one talks about it. The only time u punks spit fire is whenever you disagree on monatary and power issues with goodluck. The only reason why bode ur frnd was convicted was bcuz he carelessly called u an ex convict during a telephone conversation with someone which you overheard and u promised to make him an ex convict also which u ended up achieving. Now u have used ur influence and connection in d judiciary to clear his name ahead of 2015 bcuz u fantasize on removing goodluck from d office. U need all ur political machinery to work at its best hence you making all these failed last minute arrangements. Some vulnerable pple after reading ur self serving letters, started posting nonesense comments. It was ony u obj that increased fuel from 22 naira to about 56 naira which is about 8times. 103. Comment with caution here if you are not trained in law. The Supreme Court exercises wide discretion in the judicature in many ways than one. It is not duty bound to duck the appeal, only to return the case back for trial at the High Court. It is never too late to approach the hierarchy of courts for justice. If you throw up allegations you cannot substantiate, your case can only succeed for a while. That is the moral. It takes a minimum of 6 years training to become a lawyer. If you think na beans go enroll. Puerile logicians here should take a back seat and learn that our courts are driving home the message clearly: have your facts; parcel your evidence with clinical finish before you go crying "crucify him." Public opinion is not evidence; it is not law, let alone conjectures or speculations. I am happy that the courts are totally detached from the mob calling itself public opinion!!!!!!!!!!!! My worry is: how will Bode George now find compensation for the years he spent in jail? It is sad.
