Photos: This is Lagos!

Left photo shows refuse dumped under a LAWMA signboard that says 'no dumping of waste' lol. The 2nd pic shows a soldier punishing a man for crossing the express road instead of using the pedestrian bridge. The pic is funny but what's happening here is so wrong. Why punish an adult for violating road traffic law? Why not arrest them, take them to court, fine them? Someone should caution these soldiers.

  27. I hail 9ja .........lol.. We dey undastand our own law upside down.

    ReplyDelete
  28. The punishment is well deserved, a tougher punishment is recommended cos Nigerians only learn the hard way. However, the government should put proper refuse management system in place before making laws else people will continue to break the law. With that being said, Nigerians, let us always do the right thing perhaps our government can learn from us.

  44. Linda *hush* biko... they deserve more than this, useless people, i dont know why they like risky their lives. Se na goat dem build the bridge for? mtcheeew.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Let us be frank and real with ourselves, arresting him, taking him to court and/or fining such people would have no effect. Basically because the offender will never see the four walls of a court, he will bribe and beg his way out and commit the same offence on his way home. Nigerians in our present state of lawlessness need the strong hand of discipline, something like Idiagbon's Kick Against indiscipline programme. Capital and on the spot punishments for offences like traffic violations, crossing the expressways and the likes. I dare say, if a soldier punishes you for crossing the expressway and you know the next time you pass that place, he or his colleagues will be there, you fall in love with the pedestrian bridge, even in its dilapitated state.

  49. what can LAWMA do now, it has taken enlightenment to residents through various radio and tv programmes even billboard. Even a new person in lagos knows how to manage waste. The people's attitude are just bad. Change is a gradual thing i believe we will get there soon.

  50. You know we are in the jungle anything goes in Nigeria. This is only country where soilder will come out beating and flogging civilian and fellow civilian will be clapping .Nigeria is so backward that soilder will come out with uniform to arrest even in husband and wife dispute. They are very good in fighting police Lastma traffic personnel and civilians .pls beg them to use this power they have to defeat boko haram
