Deputy Minister of Communication, Victoria Hammah, (pictured above) was sacked today, a day after she was heard in a leaked tape to radio stations saying she would not quit politics until she's rich
The voice purported to be that of Victoria Hammah is heard telling a female companion
“I will not quit politics until I make one million dollars. If you have money then you can control people." She also criticized another minister, the deputy minister of gender, children and social protection, Rachel Appoh, in the leaked tape. She said “it was useless for the deputy minister to fight Nana Lithur whose husband is friends with former President Jerry Rawlings and was President Mahama’s lawyer during the 2012 election challenge. She cannot boast of 100,000 Ghana cedis or 100,000 dollars. The Ghanaian government released a statement today announcing her dismissal, but didn't give any reason for the sack. That's how politics works in Ghana. She was sacked for what she intended to do and not what she's done already. Nigeria should learn from this. #dropsmic!
pls. ghana is the most corrupt country. they just know how to steal in a civilised way. fake ppl
ReplyDeleteThat is a bloody lie. I am a Nigerian and I can confidently say Nigeria is far more corrupt than Ghanians
DeleteY is it that women in politics juss want to steal money?....and it always leaks?,if u want to steal do it in a quiet manner na,but as I de involde I go de pray against una!

Who would v thot jonah wud turnout this way! See whr sentiments has gotten us, not in a million years wud I v thot he would be this horrible when Yaraduas wife was riding him like an ass/donkey that he truly is. Shame, BIG shame!!!
DeleteAbeg ghana corrupt reach naija ooo. Them no even near us. They are really trying
DeleteNigeria and Ghana are becoming the exact opposite of each other. But for you anon 2.21pm, you must be having yellow fever and dull brain for such stupid comparison.
DeleteNigeria will neva b lik this..cedis has more value than naira too. shebi small small oduah's case is fading?
ReplyDeleteHonestly this case is different from that of Oduah, her own is careless saloon or market women gossip and it would have affected negatively the public perception of the govt., If she was left in govt. Unlike that of Odua she needs to be proven guilty b4 she can be sacked.
DeleteHm! Dat is wat I'm seeing o! Vewy soon nw, it'll be history. That is until anoda (almost) plane crash. Wch None of us shall be involved in, amen.
DeleteBiko where did you hear that cedis has more value than naira???
DeleteYou really need to be sure before you write o
Anon 5:58 YOU really need to be sure before you write! Of course the cedi is now stronger than the naira! Na today e happen??? That's stale gist! Since 2008/9! Presently its N71.27 to 1 ghanian cedi! (it's even stronger than S.A rand!) You gotta read more!
DeleteYes,common cedis hs more value dan naira
DeleteThis Curzy Zo is anti-Christ...beware of her...thts the way she told MJ that she shouldn't work...#drops bomb and walksaway# Angel
DeleteCaptain MuMu, the ghana cedis has more value than the Naira
DeleteShe is right! Cedis is higher Dan naira! U get ur facts rights before trying to correct someone else!
DeleteAnonymous you dumbass do your research. Ghanaian cedis has more value than naira. This is 2013 not 10years back. Ghanaia cedies 1 is to 71 Nigerian naira
DeleteYes Anonymous 5:58, One Ghana cedi is equivalent to #90.....the cedis is way more valuable than the naira
DeleteDear anon 5:58pm,curvy ZO is so so correct..I guess its u dat nid to knw before u write..Cedis was upgraded some years ago
DeleteMy friend sharap dia! Cedis has more value than . YOU need to be sure before you write!!!
DeleteMost of u write out of ignorance ...how can u say ghana cedis has more value dan naira...like seriously ......1ghana cedis is equivalent to 10 000 old ghana cedis....its d same tin.just dat all d zeros have been removed ........ghana government changed all dat just to minimize d ambiguity in d pronunciation ..but it didnt change d value ...d new ghana derision has same value wit d old ghana cedis....wot changed is just d figure .....2 =20 000...50= 500 000 old ghana cedis.....wch is around 6000 naira....u ppl shld pls use ur head.....am a nigerian but i live in ghan
DeleteAnonymous 12:42, u realise u just spoke from the bottom of ur ass????
DeleteAnon 12.42 you deserve Africa Best Idiot 2013 award from LIB.
DeleteLol! Don't crucify anon1242. His explanation his correct, its called decimalization. But his conclusion is wrong. They simply moved 'zeros'
DeleteLinda,u see where this woman amebo don land her?
ReplyDeleteOh 9ja,when are we going to reach that level of discipline?!
oh Nigeria my country how u are???? see ur mate sacking pple yl common nscdc officer has 61 houses and numerous lands in Abuja.... I just wanna be a sniper, learn jack baeur stunts and start killing my lovely leaders.
ReplyDeleteJonah hope u r taking notes wherever u are u foolish budle disappointment in human form. The man didn't wait till she committed the crime b4 sacking her, her mind set was enough for the Ghanian president to relieve her of her duty. If na u, na that time u go know say u wan set up 3-man commitee/ panel to look into an offence we all know most of em are guilty off u bloody imbecile & killer of hope! Anywayz if Ruben Abati who seemed to be fighting for the ppl & honest switched the way he did, anything can happen. Abati is the epitome of the word sell out. I was happy when he was offered the job, I thot at least jonah wud v some1 who will be telling him the truth but boyyy was I surprised, a man I really looked up to started playing a new song I didn’t know he had in his play list. So all the noise he was making back then was all a means to an end... Anywayz the devil was once an angel so hey...
DeleteHonney u get mind. Lol. If you learn, teach me too please

ReplyDeleteGhana has a system that works. And it's very good, this will serve as a lesson to other ministers and aspiring ministers....as much as a nation can not be completely free of corruption because of a few bad eggs, we must work to fight against it!
ReplyDeleteIf this same case had happened in Nigeria, our president will set up a commitee to investigate it.
nigerians shld learn from this.

ReplyDeleteNigeria will never progress if Nigerians don't come together as youths to correct the wrongs of ourselves and elders... France Revolution...
ReplyDeleteHaven't we kept quiet for too long.
Do we expect a miracle to save us from us
Aren't we tired of been labeled as the most corrupt country
Do we have to suffer for the easiness some people find in doing wrong.
Or is it that we like how we live?
Or how other European countries disregard us despite how rich we are
Or we are just cowards, that have let our beliefs and sentiments overshadow the true fact that it is we that is the solution to our own problems.
Our future is full of uncertainties, what will be the future of our kids... Mmmmmmm.
WAKE UP FOR TIME WE HAVE, BUT OF WHAT BENEFIT IS TIME IF IT'S FULL OF SORROW, POVERTY AND UNHAPPINESS

DeleteGod iyaff catch her o.*tongue out*
ReplyDelete1 million dollars? That's just one hundred and sixty million naira. Before you become a minister in Nigerian you would have spent that amount already, bribing your way to get the seat. So you should be targeting making at least 1 billion dollars
ReplyDeleteFunny but so true
DeleteThis is why Ghana will continue growing, there is transparency and the government is ready to take drastic action against ant government official found wanting ... this is not the case in Nigeria! I am sure if its in Ghana, Stella Oduah would have been axed since but here, mshewwwww ... awon oniranu oshi

Thanks for sharing Linda. Please do you wanna tag Abati and Omokri whose boss would have set up a committee to investigate the minister and both will be running around media houses issuing press releases, opening fake twitter accounts, commenting at your blog with anonymous tags in a bid to defend the indefensible . I am relocating to Ghana next year because I have got a feeling that they will soon introduce a visa policy to bar Nigerians from their country. Better I relocate now before the door closes.
ReplyDeleteU see if na 4 nigeria dem go tell d woman say 1million 2 small well don ghana president God will bless u and if only our nigeria president can see dis

ReplyDeleteYou got it wrong Linda . . . She was sacked for her loud mouth, not 'what she intended to do'. No Public officer should make such utterances. She was fired before she makes a bigger fool of herself and their Govt.
ReplyDeleteWe understand your point and you are a true Nigerian, telling us she was not sacked because of corruption abi? Ewu Chad! Sorry for your mother!!

ReplyDelete@Bosun Nigerians are not coward, they have been there once, they have witness revolution, wat damage it can cause a Nation, flash back what happen during d Biafra war, till today the fight still linger d mind of the Biafrans (the lost souls & properties dt was lost). it lyk a case of once bitten twice shy & als Nigerian have the ability to survive in a critical condition (suffering & smiling). not until dis greedy politicians re wiped off jst as what Ghana did, we will still be breeding greedy politician.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous November 8, 2013 at 2:21 PM
ReplyDeleteat least things are moving forward unlike this silly country called Nigeria.
You think she's bad, wait till you find out how much the prime minister in Singapore is 'earning' after a 'pay cut' to buy votes during the 2011 elections.
ReplyDeleteThat is sorry case....which can never happen in Nigeria
ReplyDeletemore interesting stories
Is good dt he sack her cos no body knows her nest action. She is sacked 4 her greedness. I like it Nigerian sld learn a lesson 4rm dis
ReplyDeleteYou see? for imminent $1m meanwhile stella oduah is still in office after gulping $1.6m. GEJ you should learn from your mate and naijans you people should also learn from this as well. Nobody was seen or heard supporting her, everybody condemned her and that facilitated and made the decision to sack her easier for the Ghananian president.
ReplyDeleteOde daz wat I call I her. Didn't she kn d country she came 4rm? Mumu
ReplyDeleteYes! That serves her right. can our leaders learn from this.
ReplyDeleteShe should have come to this world a Nigerian, she would have been just fine.

ReplyDeleteGod is watching all Nigeria govt in a 4D screen!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteOnly N160 million. She's a small fry. Naija politicians make 30 times that amount before they rest.
ReplyDeletenigeria has rich people, but Ghana as a country is richer than nigerian economically....1 ghana cedis is almost 80 niara..to the person who asked if Ghana's money is worth than niara....
ReplyDeleteShe's a learner. She should just have said "I intend to do the needful". End of story
ReplyDeleteCommon stealing a million bucks from de chaley econamy is like stealing the whole national budget...I don't even think Ghana has up to a million DoLESS....
ReplyDeleteITZ LIKE WOMEN IN POLITICS HAVE BIGGER EYEZ DAN SOME OF D MEN
ReplyDeleteGOOD for her ...she wan turn to bill gate in 20 years ...bad news
ReplyDelete...check out .. readlotz.blogspot.com for some cool updates
Am I the only one who finds no problem with what she says? If she mentioned that she will not quit politics until she's rich via exploitation of her post then there'd be a problem, but she was setting a goal for herself she knows what she wants to make ot of the politics she's doin and maybe quit later and follow anoher path naa... The other stuff she said about other ministers was a matter of opinion too.
ReplyDeletePolitics in Africa though SMH forreal I dey fear to even enter government oooo best I stay with outside shit... we are looking at a good number of years before our own shit goes right, and I am Egyptian!

ReplyDeleteNigeria has got a lot to learn from the countries around them.
ReplyDeleteIn Nigeria it is more of action than words. In Ghana ministers talk before they steal making their intentions known but in Nigeria ministers steal first then they start talking till their offense fades away at public hearings or tribunals.
ReplyDeleteI get d filin say na naija sabi God pass 4 ds world and na dem dey do rubbish pass again I no just undastand linda abeg post ma comment
ReplyDeleteso we see that women are not just questionable in character but they can hardly be trusted. that is why i always say that if women should lead this country then this country will be doomed.women are suppose to be mother and not she thieves but what do we have these days women stealing money, not been able to tell their husbands in the bedroom that they are doing wrong.well naija i wish us all the very best in future.God help us all.
