BBA contestant Melvin Oduah gives to the less priviledged

Big Brother Africa 2013 contestant Melvin Oduah donated food stuff and cash to Hope for Survival Orphanage Home in Gishiri Village, in Abuja during a courtesy call on Sunday November 10th. Good gesture. Another pic when you continue...

    7. Poverty is such a bit*ch. I really don't get y the have to bring out the kids to snap with the packets of noodles rather than just with Melvin. Plz I see it as an insult to dz kids. It is good to give but must it b seen by the public? Christsins have you forgotten the story of the widow who hid to give her last and the rich man who wanted everyone to see his offering? Who got more blessings?

    ReplyDelete
  80. I'm sorry but it's a shame to see that Indomie is always the choice of "food" given to poor children in orphanages. Indomie has LITTLE TO NO nutritional value. It's only salt salt and more salt. What these children need is more food like yams, rice, fish, and fresh produce like fruits and vegetables. The only thing I see that has a bit of nutrition is the Peak Milk they donate, otherwise it's all junk food.
Is it that the diet in Nigeria is poor or they're unable to donate healthier foods due to a lack of refrigeration?

    ReplyDelete
  81. Pls dont get me wrong. Its good hedonated these things but why the pictures. In islam, when u give with ur right hand, do not allow ur left hand to know what u gave. In other words, its should be btw u, the person n God. I also know that its thesame fir christains when giving offering n tithe.

    ReplyDelete
  82. @ Prittichy Abj......you are very pretty indeed but ur comments are ugly.......If you visit orphanages often, you would have realized that the officials always want the visitors to snap with the kids.....In fact, what is wrong snapping with Indomie?and what have you ever donated on your own.....Put up your own pics let us see what you have to offer......

    ReplyDelete
  83. @ Alicia....even the richest people eat noodles......It has saved marriages and single ladies like you since inception..........& let me tell you that Indomie is strictly wheat flour which is more healthy than the mama gold rice you eat........Meanwhile,where is you own yam, beans & vegetables you have donated....Please see the best in people and not always criticizing what others do....You must not comment @ every post.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I haven't commented on this blog in months so what the hell are you talking about? Noodles shouldn't be the bulk of what's being donated, that's all i'm saying.

Thank you for the comment. You took the words out of my mouth.
Melvin Oduah and other celebrities: Thank you for increasing our public consciousness to the plight of our orphans and hopefully, your acts can inspire the rest of us to do the same.
Pastor of Mega churches - please take note. While you build your expensive universities, expand your church facilities, and purchase your multi-million dollar private jets in order to spread the word of God better because if you happen to travel any other way, the word of God might no longer be effective. While you partake in all these activities, please don't forget to help the less fortunate as Jesus whom you serve has told us to do. Jesus fed the people who came to listen to his preaching from two fishes and five loaves of bread. mmhmmm. But I digress. Nothing do una, you are only following in the footsteps of the churches before you i.e. take a look at the Vatican in Rome and you will catch my drift.
Lest I get distracted by a completely unrelated topic, Indomie noodles or any other type of instant noodles is very poor nutrition. It only contributes bleached flour striped of all its original nutrients and excessive salt to the diet. Living on this diet will only retard the children's growth and increases their risk of many chronic diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, poor dentition e.t.c as they get older. Growing children need their carbohydrates, true. They also need protein - (meat, fish, milk, beans), fats - (meat, fish, milk, oil), and vitamins and minerals best obtained from fruits and vegetables. While Indomie is a cheap way to fill the belly and satisfy hunger, it is also wise to add other things that do not require refrigeration like Yams, Beans, Soya bean/milk, fruits in the season, a few vegetables that can be consumed within 2-3 days and other things like that. When I donate things to the orphanages in Nigeria or the food shelf here in the U.S., I ask myself if I will allow my children to eat this and only when I can justify that to myself will I donate such things. Also, how about clothing - underwear, sweater, towels, bedsheet, pillows, shoes, stoves, clean water, school supplies, common vaseline or other lotion etc. I was so happy to walk into an orphanage one day in Nigeria and found them feeding the children eba with this wonderful looking and smelling okro soup. I have found it very helpful to ask the owner/manager what is of most need and donate towards that as I am financially able to.
Long story short, my brothers and sisters; please, when we make donations, let us make donations that will truly matter and not just donating for the sake of donating. God Bless Nigeria.
