Nigerian man jailed in the UK for raping a woman in her own home

A Nigerian night club bouncer has been jailed for seven years in the UK for raping a woman in her own home. Idreez Popoola (pictured above), who twice dodged deportation, brutally attacked his victim on 29th December 2012, eleven months after he successful appealed his deportation ruling.

 Prosecutors said Popoola met his victim while working as an agency-employed bouncer outside Bar So in Northampton town centre. He took her out for drinks then managed to convince the woman to take him back to her home. It was in her home that he attacked her.
 
Popoola, 34, was jailed for seven years at a court in Northampton on October 18. He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life. The court told him he would be automatically deported back to Nigeria on his release from prison.

      People, i know him personally in th UK. Before you sacrifice him you should know the true story. He was framed by his boss. A desperate Jamaican lady. If her claims was true it means she picks strangers off d street. John was just a victim. Linda i thought don't copy and paste.       Guys pls if I ve nt bin in dis situation I ll prolly run my mouth. Aftr my 1st 3mnths in d Uk, I went to a club wit a friend, we met some crazy ass white chicks n dey were all over us. D girl was so into me, she bot me alot of drink n asked me to ff her home.
      As a sharp naija guy,I ffd n d nyt was prolly d best I ever had.
      However d story changed in d morning. D girl woke up n d 1st tin I heard was "who d fuck r u?*wit beta brits accent, I felt she was kidding bt she started screaming, neighbours came in... n I was arrested. She told d police she has neva seen me b4, dt I jst came into her home n raped her.
      Fcos she was blivd, victim.
      Wen it got srz I called my struggling parents in 9ja n told dem. My mum almost had a heart attack...long story short, God helped me tru her friend dt went home wit my guy d same nyt...
      I cnt begin to gist d entire experience bt pls my advice for us blacks here, be vry careful, nt everybody ll b as lucky as I was.

    Anonymous 12.13am abeg even if she slept with him for a year, and on that one occasion, she didn't want and he wanted, and he took it, it is rape. Even if they were smooching and halfway, she says "stop" and he doesn't, it is rape.
    And as for living in d UK, who doesn't??? Were you there when it happened? My guess was that it was proved beyond reasonable doubt that he committed it. Its not Naija. They look at evidence presented before them. Tough!

Its a normal strategy used to cage some black men who are perceived to be potential threats to the community! Most of the ladies involved in these rape cases are criminals without any official criminal records (hope u understand what I mean?) so the police & the immigration officials use them when necessary!!

    Hello Guys, dont let is be quick to judge, i am currently in UK and i spoke with a friend to the jailed Nigerian even before the verdict was given. In as much as i wont believe all i was told 100% i think you should actually be carefully with crucifying this guy. From what i was told the woman/victim was under the influence of alcohol but drove the guy to her house in her own car and dropped him off the following morning with her own car. but there was a bit of disagreement a couple of weeks later when the guy refused to fulfill his own part of the deal cash in exchange for sex. he promised to settle the woman by month end but refused to apparently using Naija/lagos sense, which backfired when the woman called the police saying the guy took advantage of her under the influence of alcohol. This guy needs a good lawyer that will insist that CCTV footage of his claim be verified. maybe he will be lucky with just a deportation instead of service jail term and becoming an ax convict. my humble opinion

    so how did they decide it was rape? did he get any assistance from the Nigerian embassy. To Nigerians abroad, i know the Nigerian embassies don't always do a good job, but if you're in a case like this, it's a good idea to reach out to them especially if you can't afford a very good lawyer.
