I
truly believe that this book can make a difference in Nigeria, because
of its simplicity and honesty in tackling issues, hope you get to read

Book Excerpts
On Religion “Three
years later, I found myself several thousand miles from secondary
school at a church in Houston, Texas, but this time nobody was speaking
in tongues or binding out demons. Instead they talked to God in gentle
whispers, completely the opposite to the yelling and shouting I was used
to back at home. Also, church actually started and finished on time;
and on Sunday
you could actually go an entire day without some random person asking
you the guilt-seeking have-you-gone-to-church question. And my scary
dreams? Well, they suddenly disappeared. It was as if the Devil and his
whole crew of demons were denied visas at the American Embassy. And I
can totally relate to that…” click to see how to get the book
On Gay Marriage "I
confess that I don’t see the big hoopla around gay marriage. I mean I
could care less what two consenting men do behind closed doors. Except
if the men happen to be politicians deciding how to steal "our"…I take
that back…Niger Deltan's oil money. I confess that I am less worried
about two men screwing each other and more worried about a politician
screwing an entire nation…over and over again!" click to see how to get the book
On Education "The
fact is that our road networks, like our educational systems are built
on a system of memorization; you either know the directions or you
don’t. There is no logic to navigating the roads…if you get lost…ask for
directions or ask jeeves I mean Jesus. But in the western world, if you
ask for directions, you are told to head north or south and then to
take exit number X or Y. Even the exits are numbered according to the
number of miles between exits. It is a very logical system...their roads
were probably planned by people who sucked at memorizing." click to see how to get the book
Dedicated To: The
book is dedicated to the victims of the aluu4 mob lynching. “hundreds
of people…intelligent and religious stood by and did nothing…and still
people have done nothing” hoping that we (not the government) start
doing something...
Nice one! Quite witty!
ReplyDeleteThis would make a good read.
ReplyDeleteOne can tell from the excerpts that the author is definitely liberal with certain issues that are considered "big deal" in Nigeria.
As for the book title itself and the big question it asks;"Does Intelligence Really Kill"? Yes intelligence when wrongly applied is definitely fatal.
Ordering it online nw..
DeleteLinda, why is ur name on that book, are u the co_author?
ReplyDeleteHe needs a catchy title for his book. Nigerians should understand the difference btw been smart and been intelligent.

ReplyDeleteIsooorait
ReplyDeleteOver sabi na bad market
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome... I feel precisely the same way...Why are we Nigerians so backward...we feel like we are so SMART and religious but all we really have to offer are hypocrisy and unintelligible points of view that have no form of logical backing...I apologize for the generalization; we have to face the truth..
ReplyDeletereading culture...zero...pray that reasonable minds get to see this reasonable book
ReplyDeleteAi L♥√ what u wrote @ ofili but am sure u've never entered a catholic church...that's y you were surprised people can actually pray solemnly!

DeleteA must read,,, well written.
ReplyDeleteNigerians are dumb enough to critisize this book based on the excerts alone, would they even bother to read it? "May God help us " is what they say all the time, maybe its time to actually reason and stop calling everything on God and actually. Do the right thing, what's anyone's business when someone is genetically engineered to admires samesex relationship,Nigerians are just too dumb, they know little about, milky way, black hole,Basis meisis, tranny's,quantum, radio waves and yet they seem to act like þhey know all, pathehic country I wish I was never born in this politcal mistake called Nigeria
ReplyDeleteI would pay a billion naira to buy the book,
On gay marriage...ok o
ReplyDeleteI would say the guy's so-called intelligence is also killing him,half-truth also kills,I bet he dint think well.Talking about the religion whatever, only hypocrites and cowards would support him,it clearly shows you just came back from wherever outside our dear Africa.Praying and shouting in tongues is so necessary in this Africa of ours, cause Africa is so full of wicked ones,You pray the solemn prayer and it doesnt work on them. You are in our own part of the world now,huh?..I pray you dont experience what I'm trying to put across. As for homosexuality,it is just as bad as the politicians who try to steal the bucks meant fot the populace,ok? Buddy, none of dem is better at all.For all other points you try small and thanks for letting us know.Intelligence used in the wrong way really KILLS.pls post ds.
ReplyDeleteHaven't read the book but for those who have read it, do you understand what he means by intelligence being a death wish abi na weapon?I wonder if this is a translation from the word "oke amamihe" - over sabi. If yes, it is not the same as intelligence. Oversabi is actually false sense of knowledge fueled by uncommon and unrestrained ignorance and arrogance. Now that is what I believe is killing us.

ReplyDelete"Coward, when talking about religion why bash the church?"
First of all, I am not the one commenting with an anonymous name. Secondly I have never been to a mosque so I don't write about that. Lastly and most importantly, I state clearly in the picture sketches my view point on Bokoharam in well err explicit terms. So I won't be eating my book =D
Thanks DR KHENINE, PRINCE CHARMING, Mich, colormeepurple.com, janelicious and all the anons out there. Appreciate the feedback.

ReplyDelete"Ai L♥√ what u wrote @ ofili but am sure u've never entered a catholic church...that's y you were surprised people can actually pray solemnly!"
I actually attended St.Leo catholic school in Toyin, Ikeja. So I did grow up with a lot...actually plenty Catholic background. In my comparison I am not looking at apples to oranges. I am looking at the Nigeria Church to the American Church generally.

ReplyDelete"Hmmmm, oh yeah , d author of this book is quite correct intelligence kills, he is also a victim, he thinks he is soo smart wid his stupid so calledliberal views! Quite ironic!"
Always the anonymous ones that are the loudest =D
Anyway I write as I see it. Ain't nothing wrong with being a liberal. Cause the absence of liberalism is actually what is creating the bokoharam issue. People...anonymous people might I add...that believe so strongly in their definition of religion that they will kill others not following it. Anyway I am proud to be a liberal =D
Thanks @Anonymous October 20, 2013 at 10:47 PM
ReplyDelete"I would pay a billion naira to buy the book"
Ah...mogbe...tank ya. Make I send you my account number o. Lol. Thanks for the support.

ReplyDelete"Praying and shouting in tongues is so necessary in this Africa of ours, cause Africa is so full of wicked ones,You pray the solemn prayer and it doesnt work on them."
Really. Oya be there shouting. Abi is God deaf in Africa that we have to should and pray longer and how has that helped us. Look I have no issues with prayer. I go to church, my Mum is a missionary in Church. But at the end of the day, you have to mix prayer with action. Cappish. And thats where we have failed.
"As for homosexuality,it is just as bad as the politicians who try to steal the bucks meant fot the populace,ok? Buddy, none of dem is better at all."
None of them is better at all? anugom. So tell me why are Nigerians packing the American embassy to go to yankee when they support gay marriage? I don't recall anyone dying from Gay marriage, or getting kidnapped by Gay marriages. My point is that Nigeria, all of us have more pressing, more important issues than Gay marriage. Our politicians form voltron for anti-gay laws but when it is time for NEPA or ASUU strike they will be forming burial silence. Siddon dey look.
@Anonymous October 21, 2013 at 12:50 AM "Oversabi is actually false sense of knowledge fueled by uncommon and unrestrained ignorance and arrogance. Now that is what I believe is killing us."
ReplyDeleteIntelligence as you stated above can have different meanings. I live it to the reader to interpret what they can from the title. But the book will make it clearer what type of Intelligence is being talked about.
Lord teach me how to read plz!!!!!!

ReplyDelete"Congrats to my fellow UH alum!!!! Go COUGARS!!!!!"
go coogs!
Like the author said who cares if two consenting adult are screwing themselves... A word rooted in hate
ReplyDeleteYet our genre still ignores it
Gay is synonymous with the lesser
It's the same hate that's caused wars from religion
Gender to skin colour
Complexion of your pigment
The same fight that lead people to walk-outs and sit-ins
Human rights for everybody
There is no difference
Live on! And be yourself!
When I was in church
They taught me something else
If you preach hate at the service
Those words aren't anointed
And that Holy Water
That you soak in
Is then poisoned
When everyone else
Is more comfortable
Remaining voiceless
Rather than fighting for humans
That have had their rights stolen
I might not be the same
But that's not important
No freedom till we're equal
Damn right I support it!!! Instead we should care about these politicians screwing our economy.#that's important
When u travel out ad learn the ways of d westerners u come here ad blab even if ur drivin ur point dnt mek it seem lyk derz no God pllss guys ingnore dis guy he cn onli corrupt ur minds.Read 1st timothy 6:20 the bible has al knwledge of our daily lives its has has answers 2 al our questions leave al dis athiest.#irestmycase
ReplyDeleteWow! Grt piece!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWe Africans are soo gullible, how dare u compare a morally bankrupt nation to our country Nigeria, when u talk of corruption in the Government, we fool ourselfs, i must ask this, when CHRIS OKOTIE contested for presidentof this country how many of you voted for him? We chose to support crooks, how many of you will join a good man for campaign , we only support those who can give handouts or promise us appointments, we are the same people who get paid to snatch ballot boxes and rigg election, and later turn around to scream corruption in govt, coming back home we cheat at primary 6 exams, Jamb, Waec, pay to get admission into schools,d list is endless, we should forget about d westerners and deal wid our! problem
ReplyDeleteA person born without sight will learn to adapt to their environment differently from a person born with sight. When I read some of these comments I see a whole lot of people who have refused enlightenment steadfastly defending their blind ways. Well to each his own. You can drag a horse to water but you can't force it to drink.
ReplyDeleteO boy! Ofili, u can type o! #(now praying solemnly) Heavenly father, give me the grace to read stuff with patience.
