The Olu of Warri in the document, said:
“I also repent for the name and title of “Ogiame” that my ancestors and I have borne, as it connotes our allegiance to Umalokun (goddess of the river) and other deities of the sea, all of which are false gods. Today, I renounce our allegiance to Umalokun and other gods of the sea, land and sky. On behalf of the royal bloodline, the throne, the people of Iwere land, I publicly enter into a new covenant with God.”
Not only did the King renounce his traditional title of Ogiame, he also dissociated himself from some
of the kingdom’s age-long traditional practices, which he described as
paganism. This seeming
born again position by the King has been seen to be an insult to the
traditional history of the Itsekiris.
There are also indications that the King did not consult the Itsekiri
Traditional Council of Chiefs and Ruling Houses before he took the decision. Now the people of Warri are asking him to either withdraw his statement or abdicate the throne.
Several people, including members of the royal family have tried to convince the Olu of Warri to change his mind on the matter, but the King has so far said there's no going back on his decision.
No fewer than 5000 women are expected to embark on a protest today in Warri against the monarch.
You cant be a traditional ruler and serve God. Leave the throne to the false god worshipers. Greed for power if you ask me.
ReplyDeleteDats not true and lacks logic, ancestra nd traditional worshiping is not d lawfull criteria of being a king, not at all
DeleteDonot say what you no nothing about, for over 300 years now the past and present olu's have all been christians. What his doing is denouncing the traditions of the land which is wrong.so watch what you say.
DeleteIf you ask me, I think you're stupid. So bcuz tht has been the tradition he shld accept it? Or tht all traditional rulers are idol worshippers? God is prolly using him to bring light and change into Delta
DeleteIs not greed 4 power,sum1 must sacrifice 4 sumtins 2 change!remember God didn't come 4 d rightious but 4 d sinners n dat was why he was killed.sum1 must play d hero!!!may God c him tru!
DeleteI be full blooded itsekiri boy and a christian, OLU should abdicate the throne cux he wnt to distroy our tradition of over 500 yrs jst becox he's now born again, give onto ceaser wat belongs to him and God wat belong to him, a community where there is no tradition the pple perish. We are all going to protest tomorow against his action more over he's not surpose to be the king..........
DeleteU'r a disgrace to d christian religion..see ur mouth like ceaser..ode oshi its either u serve God or u d'nt
DeleteIf u really are an itsekiri boy, u will knw dat he was forced to be d king. He rejected being king frm d beginning.. So he has d right to do watever he is doing because he has a convenant with God frm d onset...Olu of Warri, we are praying for u!
DeleteDis one na serious matter o.
ReplyDeleteFm
In this present day and time, some youths are still practising paganism or supporting paganism. I strongly support the King. You cannot serve God and Mormon. Let the light of God shine in Delta state.
ReplyDeleteAmen...
DeleteBrainwashed indoctrinated Christian. Why should culture die because of some white man's religion?
DeleteSilly Africans
I also support d king's decision
Deletebut he shld leave d throne.
He shld give wat belongs to ceaser to him n wat belongs to God to God
As for me n my family, we will only serve d living God!
God is higher than all mortals n he rules over what ever mini n demigod!long live the king
ReplyDeleteChange in imminent in a liberal world! They should accept his decision and move on, he isn't a god or something to them is he?
ReplyDeletePc,such a dumb comment.u may be good with words but u aren't with reasoning
Delete*is imminent
DeleteI think u have signed a contract with Linda to comment on EVERY post, even if u don'thave anything reasonable to say
DeleteWould we call this maintaining tradition or being primitive?
ReplyDeleteHmmmm, wafi
ReplyDeleteI admire n encourage his new belief, but i dnt really knw if is wise to impose dis his new rule on his people n ithink it wil b wiser to leave d throne n follow christ, not only wil dis b difficult but i think giv to ceaser wht belong to ceaser should apply here
ReplyDeleteThank you my brother.
DeleteDoesn't apply here. There are kings in the bible tht did same. He is king of their land and his decision is final
DeleteHe's decision is final??wat if it was Islam he is promoting???wil ur reaction be the same???last tym I checked, dere was freedom to religion in dis nation..
DeleteNo conspirancy against the true God can stand oh king stand n see d salvation of d lord
ReplyDeleteaye
DeleteMa olu will previel. Bcoz God is d king of all kings.
DeleteI like this. The man has chosen the right path and boldly declared same for the well-being of his people. God, bless his reign.
ReplyDeleteShall we call this maintaining tradition or being primitive?
ReplyDeleteWow, what a bold step! I admire his courage to renounce paganism and serve the one and only true God and also to bring his people to do so. But if the pagans want to make it too hot for him, he should vacate the seat and go and serve his God. The elders would never have supported him becos some will be so deep rooted in paganism and are only church goers.Paganism can never be mixed with religion. Either one is for God or not. Well done the Olu of Warri.
ReplyDeleteHe should also denounce his throne na.
ReplyDeletebtw thats their cup of coffee.

ReplyDeletebtw thats their cup of coffee.
~BONARIO~says so via NOKIA3310
Denouncing the throne will amount to abdicating his responsibility. Some things can only be done from the top. I stand with him in the spirit & I'm sure future generations will be grateful just as a handful of kings in Israel will forever be remembered for snatching Israel from the jaws of idolatry. In whatever capacity, let's reposition our Niger Delta towards the living God...and maybe we can then start enjoying the fruit of the land; maybe we will not be cheated out of the fruitfulness of our land through some funny derivation formula and maybe just maybe God will help us enforce our rights to our land rather than some northerners lording ownership over us.
DeleteYup. Well said. Just like king Josiah in the old testament
DeleteLol...then he shud prolly step down as king...he can't be king to a 'pagan' community n not do wat makes him der king...unless d culture involves som kind of killing or ritual,I don't see anything wrong wit ancient traditions..
ReplyDeleteHe should also renounce his throne na.
ReplyDeletebtw thats their cup of coffee.

God is indeed awesome! Behold!!! A New Order for Positive Change. (In Warri)
ReplyDelete"Olu of Itshekiri" and not " Olu of warri" it doesn't concern non Itshekiri's in warri. I'm in warri and I didn't hear of this, just seen it here now.
ReplyDeleteU sure say na warri u d̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ ? We wey d̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ sapele knw wetin d̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ happen for wafi abi na udo alaja area u d̶̲̥̅̊ε̲̣̣̣̥γ̲̣̣̥ ? And for your information its OLU OF WARRI both BIG warri and small WARRI not itsekiri alone............ Oritsebawo says so
DeleteWe can't serve God n mammon! I support d OLU of WARRI, ds man wants to take us itsekiris to d next level, only in christ jesus that warri can move forward. Since we have bin praticing paganism what has been d outcome? Ofcourse d Olu knows that its going to be a tough battle ahead, n I'm happy he is prepard. What is a man's gain if he looses his soul n gain d accolades of his people? Olu I support u o, let's try God n see what HE wants to do wit us. As for some backward youths, who lives, breathes n eat fetishsm de will b d ones fight against d OLU. O Lord, I'm so happy 4 d life of d Olu of Warri, it is well wit u our able King, God will see u through this IJN Amennnn!
ReplyDeleteWow no be small thing. Even though this seems like a relatively meaningful development, thing still have to done in the right manner because it seems it was an authoritarian decision.
ReplyDeleteLearn the secrets to burning fat and eating healthy
Give ceaser what belongs to ceaser dat is my comment
ReplyDeleteQuite frankly,I think the Olu should abdicate the throne.
ReplyDeleteThere's no way his new found Faith would sit well with his people considering the fact that traditional dieties have been worshiped for generations.
Are you now asking them to abandon their gods?the ones they have served all their lives?
With such changes comes conflict,a bloody one at that.Would the Olu rather have his people turn against Christians that are perceived as 'changin' him or gently leave the throne and go practice his new found faith with his family and loyalists so peace can reign?
No disrespect to Born again Christians,I'm only being as objective as I can possibly here!
@Mich,well written comment,u always know how to drive home ur point.
DeleteMay God almighty Bless u for ur sincere comment
DeleteHmmn. For all those asking for abdication, answer this. If you inherited your father's house and saw a need to renovate, would you leave it undone just because some of your relatives are not in agreement with your methods? Thing is the King has followed his heart. What about you?
DeleteBloody sucker youth, I stand wit d king's decision. Y can't we youth embrace God, God forgive me o
ReplyDeletewow! may God be praised..that guy was just different..
ReplyDeleteD man has seen d light praise God his pipo shud quit d drama ad follow suit most trad.worshipping entails witchcraft which does notin good bt harms der fellow humans they shud jst do dat ad si hau their land prospers in d glory of our lord ad saviour JESUS CHRIST wish my own village head wil do same.
ReplyDeleteReligion vs Tradition
ReplyDeleteWrong..its the Truth vs Religion vs Tradition
DeleteAnd i know the Truth shall prevail
Yes oooo dis story is true. I stay in warri. Linda y re u jes posting dis news na wa 4 u.
ReplyDeleteI am so proud to see that someone in Nigeria can stand and renounce ancient, pagan traditions. As much as I love traditions and customs, some of them are highly diabolical, and being a Christian, it is important to renounce these practices. We have freedom as Christians, and that includes freedom from age old practices. For anyone who will attempt to dethroned him, the Olu of Warri is no longer under any ancient deity but under the Most High God. He is now servant of God like David, and his throne will be everlasting and faithful to God. No hair on his head will be touched, no evil will come near his household.
ReplyDeleteThat waz a Good decision
ReplyDeletewetin sef na by force d man no wnt serve juju .....na wa oooo free d man likr terry g joor
ReplyDeleteThis is the physical expression of "Thy Kingdom Come,.......As it is in heaven, so on Earth." Olu Of Warri, May your days be long on the throne of your fathers.
ReplyDeleteGood decision, may the name of God whom you publicly profess defend you and your family. Amen.
ReplyDeleteAMEN! Praise God...the name of Jesus will continue to be lifted up above any other false gods...why people are angry makes no sense to me...so you want to be worshipping someone in water? trees? stone? when the one who made all of them is being ignored...nonsense they should take a BIG seat!
ReplyDeleteThe LORD will uphold the king.all other gods are dead!
ReplyDeleteHe shld jst leave d throne & continue wit s religion....He cnt eat s cake & have it nau.....It s good 2 follow GOD'S way but s pple wnt accept....
ReplyDeleteTHE WORDS OF GOD HAS COME TO TAKE OVER....THE PEOPLE SHOULD BE HAPPY HIS RENOUNCING DEAD god.
ReplyDeleteHe did the best thing,if am de 1 I will do same.
ReplyDeleteIf the olu z truely born again, God will make a way out of the crisis 4 him... No change of sort came easy goin by history. God will see him tru.
ReplyDelete~me~
linda. It's only itsekiris that re protesting o. Nt d whole warri
ReplyDeleteThe good Lord whom you've chose to serve from now henceforth will see you through. Its a personal race, run it well and don't be bothered about the tension for now my great Olu of Warri cuz the Lord God whom you've declared to serve shall calm every troubled storm for you and peace will come to reign in our dear and loving town Warri.
ReplyDeleteI am highly displeased as a individual who is of a royal lineage that a man called upon to serve a people and a kingdom has chosen to be the remote cause of negative crisis. He has chosen to sow seeds of discord rather than be a voice of moderation and the protector of ancient traditions and practices passed onto him.We had a man who was a teacher in classes for religious instruction during the early days of mission work, turned headmaster of the first girls boarding school in Northern Nigeria and later an ordained Reverend become king without any friction between him and the priests of the land.Call him one who compromised his redemption but atleast he reigned peacefully and died an aged, revered old man whose name will forever be written in the anals of our history.Where a king, any king, finds that his personal beliefs conflict with that of his ancestors, the simple decision he owes his people is abdication. With protests subtle or violent engulfing the vibrant city of Warri his excellency the guvnor need not worry. In the event of a stubborn refusal to reverse his damning decision Mr Uduaghan can as well enforce his constitutionally empowered authority to depose the self serving, inconsiderate stubborn donkey.
ReplyDeleteMay God almighty lead u to the throne IJN nice comment
DeleteToo much big big grammar.
DeleteJesus is Lord!!!
ReplyDeleteThank God at least a positive movement in this our rebellious generation.
ReplyDeleteIf d man rily wants nothing 2 do wit d false gods n goddesses, he shd also abdicate d throne bcos d throne also has a lot to wit d fetish stuffs.

ReplyDeleteIfe na-eme...
ReplyDeleteWhy do people look for trouble when there shouldn't be!!!
ReplyDeleteThe title "Olu of Warri" comes with all associated paganism or African traditional practice.
If you don't want the negative side, you cannot keep the positive side, the two sides co-exist. The man should forsake the throne and worship his christian god.
He shud just abdicate the thrown
ReplyDeleteThe Name of God be praised
ReplyDeleteAmen
Give unto ceasar what belongs to ceasar n to God what belonhs to God.
ReplyDeleteYep d earth is the Lord's and it's fullness thereof; the earth and they that dwell therein!! So the king is "giving unto God way belongs to him And ceaser his too"... Hehehehe! I'm so excited abt dis great move of God. Can't wait 4 d Ooni of Ife, Oba of Lagos, Alaafin of Oyo , Deji of Akure and others to denounce deir dead gods for the Only true, Living and Potent God!!... Woooowwwww
DeleteGod will prove Himself in this. I hope d Olu doesn't change his mind tho
ReplyDeleteHe shud just abdicate the throne
ReplyDeleteI feel he shldnt hav ban d tradition. Why did he go for d post if he wasn't ready 2 abide by it. He has 4gotten dat it is beta 2 giv 2 ceaser wot belongs 2 ceaser. I expected him 2 jst wash his hands off nd leave the people 2 their fate

ReplyDeleteJesus Christ over Juju anytime, anyday... Lack of knowledge won't make the protest calm down... They ought to be happy cos dey've bn freed from the devil's bondage!!! Buh d world even prefer darkness to light *sigh*
ReplyDelete@Bobo_Edo
I don't mean no disrespect to anyone but the two don't mix. You either serve the living God or the gods that made you king. I would abdicate the throne to totally declare for the living God.
ReplyDeleteits a rather though decision especially as its coming on the bedrock of personal religious conviction. But the Big question id are you going to be loyal to traditions or to your FUTURE? when traditions fail what will keep you going is your personal convictions! Kudos!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Itsekiri family should embrace change we are now in a new order and dispenstaion which leaves out most of our practiced tradition as mundane and inappropraite Lets embrace freshness and saw No to old fashioned way.
The man is tayad of their juju and fake spiritualism he has seen the light n instead of dem to folw him thy want to remain in darknes fools lilybien*
ReplyDeletethis pple are still far from xtianity,I pray this king will be steadfast in the Lord.
ReplyDeleteY'all should repent and seek d face of d Lord,d Olu is doing a very good thing and y'all are protesting,ok naw!
ReplyDeleteLinda I don't know why you don't post my comments, its pretty annoying.
ReplyDelete#smh! civilization killing our culture! Aunty Lind, guess u slept tight! First page, he he he
ReplyDeleteBASHorun
I want to say congratulations to the Olu for this all important decision. Jesus said, what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loose his soul. i am so happy that the Olu has finally given his life to Jesus who is the way, the truth and the life.
ReplyDeleteNobdy has d rite 2 tell anybdy wat religion 2 practice as long as it won't hurt anybdy..e shud serve his God and let dem serve his!! U can't just wake up one day and impose such on ur pple!! Insane!! *ONYX GODWIN*
ReplyDeletei'm very proud of the Olu of Warri, it is a step forward for them, these youths do not have work or they iota of sense..ya'll should stop and see the big picture before ya'll start being violent. all those 5000 women should go somewhere with their protest jare....go and protest for better things..at least those human rituals wont be taking place...
ReplyDeletechange really is hard for these ppl to digest.
Olu of Warri may the Almighty Guide and keep you and your family.
God you are graet
ReplyDeletethe best thing for him to do is to resign, then go and worship God proper
ReplyDeleteHalleluyah! the strife is o'er, the battle won!
ReplyDeleteA wise and brave man. A man after God's own heart. God will bless him immensely.
ReplyDeleteGood for you sir! Africans should embrace God and forget those stupid and rubbish gods you worship. They are against the man for accepting Christ, gosh! Nigerians are just too fetish;and that is why that country is not moving forward. Witches and wizard every where sucking human blood. especially Benin and Delta, they lack Christ, why?
ReplyDeleteChristianity is the REAL reason why Nigerian isn't moving forward. Docile and passive Christians. Wake the hell up!
DeleteWOW..... righteousness exalt a nation but sin is a reproach.... GO ON KING... NO FEAR FEAR.... U SERVE A LIVING GOD. ALL THE OTHERS ARE DEAD.. I PRAY OTHER TRADITIONAL RULER COME OUT BOLDLY TO RENOUNCE EVERY DEAD GOD..
ReplyDeleteThe should let the king be...let their gods fight if they can. why should a fight for gods
ReplyDeletesee more gist
If u are born again pls take ur leave from the throne its not meant for born again. I want people that say shits about Islam to talk now.
ReplyDeleteI agree wiv d king! All dose gods r false...he shud stick 2 his decision n if need b,abdicate d throne. There is no king as GOD!
ReplyDeleteWow God is good,my Dear king please stick to your words God will fight 4 you
ReplyDeletealmighty God would surely protect him nd lead him
ReplyDeleteEven d Bible says, giv 2 Ceaser wat is Ceasers' & 2 God, wat belongs 2 God
ReplyDeleteGv to ceaser wt blongs 2 ceaser n to God wt blongs to God. D bible says so too. He shld step dwn instead. Eleanor
ReplyDeleteway to go!!!! Olu of Warri. God would definitely be on your side. Being a king's not a do or die affair.
ReplyDeleteMay Jesus our savior and the host of heaven help this man in destroying the kingdom of darkness. ?..how can ppl willingly want to serve the devil? How...olu God is on ur side...the devil has been put to shame....
ReplyDeleteThey should embrace christ,it is shameful dat dis age &time pple living in d oil city of warri will fight against christ. Itsekiri pple shame!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHalleluya to Jesus, God be praised, Jesus is coming soon.
ReplyDeleteI pray that the LORD will give the Olu the wisdom ,grace and power to overcome his enemies. Of course we know that darkness and light has nothing in common. But Light will overcome darkness. The Olu wants to make heaven and not only be a royalty on earth and go to hell. GOD forbid!
ReplyDeleteWHAT LINDA IS THIS FOR REAL THIS SI A SERIOUS ISSUE YOU CAN NOT SERVE God or mammon Wat the olu did is very right but he did it in the wrong way you just cannot wake up and change custom and tradition that has been in existence you will definitely rock the boat let him abdicate the throne and serve his God i no agree with wetein dis man do its wrong pls let him leave the throne at least he ahs accepted Jesus the next thing for him to do is to embark on a crusade and start preaching
ReplyDeleteindeed the word is covering the earth faster than we thought possible!...the whole world for Jesus!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this, for once someone is declaring his faith and he is not shy or afraid about it, I pray his reign will be blessed and peaceful. The devil will be chased out of the community and God will be exalted and lifted high
ReplyDeleteAs 4 me nd my househood we will serve D Living God.
ReplyDeleteOne thing in life is change, I guess d king hv taken a bold step 2 abolish d traditional system of d itshekiri kingdom,
ReplyDeleteThe King is only trying to bring his people out of darkness and they are fighting to remain in it. Na wa o.
ReplyDeleteStupid monarch. Did anybody force him to be king? If he knows his new religion conflicts with tradition let him simply step down for someone else jor.
ReplyDeleteMr king ,u cant force people to worship God. its a good thing that u are a born again but i think u step down and continue to pray and practice ur christianity without huring people...God will fight his battle and in no time they will repent
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmmmmmm!!! Men men!!!!! The clash of the titans. I smell trouble. I just dey laugh ooo.
ReplyDeleteMay his days be long, May God increase him in Wisdom to rule and make good and positive decisions like this.
ReplyDeleteWELL HE SHOULD ABDICATE!
ReplyDeletei don't see anything wrong with his decision to become a christian, but also think its better to vacate the throne if Christianity means anything to him.
ReplyDeleteHe should just step down and let some one else rule. It's iris are known to be united he shouldn't cause any fights

A good man trying to do something good in his land. Unfortunately, africans will never agree. They call the name of Jesus everyday and ask the almighty to bless them, yet they refuse to let go of the little gods they give worship to from time to time. May God heal our land. I strongly belive that 70percent of this protesters went for night vigil last month end, but here they are protesting against that same God they went to pray for. The Almighty is indeed a patience God.
ReplyDeleteFoolish man. Wants to eat his cake and have it at the same time. If he doesn't agree with the rules that are attached to his title and he is a true Christian as he says then he should lead by example and step down stating why he is doing so. Bringing his personal conviction into a role that was handed to him is pure BS and whack!
ReplyDeletei don't see anything wrong with his decision to become a christian, but also think its better to vacate the throne if Christianity means anything to him.
ReplyDeleteI wish God can touch d lives of our leaders like he did to dis king, sir pls don't change ur mind God in heaven is behind you

ReplyDeleteMy king may yo days been long! I suport u we are serving a living God. Baba God we neva let u down ok let other kings learn frm you. 4ty svn say so
ReplyDeleteI totally support the king, it is so shameless that these youths are supporting paganism , no wonder their lives are so useless
ReplyDeleteTradition is tradition, if you accept the throne, you should accept traditional practices, if you cant dance the tune, leave the throne...you are surley playing with fire...Ogiame Suooooooo....
ReplyDeletelousy youths..let d gods fight for themselves,,btw these our kings are all serious jazz men,,God help this one that has dared to be different
ReplyDeleteGive to ceaser what belong to ceaser and to God what belong to God. This culture has stood the test of time, and so he "king" knowns all this vividly well, why should he take the position of that throne, when he knows deeply well he won't be able to carry out the duties as the culture demands... Cheers. Engr Emy
ReplyDeleteIts olu of itsekiri not olu of warri, linda,if na for warri u for call am olu of warri,u go see the way men go gather u beat,am hapi he wants to serve God,and plz o,they shouldn't fight, ekpan youth and ugborikoko youth have started their own since,if itsekiri start their own,nai be say the matter don tie wrapper o
ReplyDeleteI.m.O He should leave d throne....
ReplyDeleteOsmond Ejiodo from Lagos. What d king has done is a clear demonstration of ignorance and lack of truth about religion. D word paganism shouldn't be used for our traditional religions. Paganism, Primitive and idolatory were all derogatory words the Europeans used to confuse our forefathers to accept there colonialism. If he doesn't take time he will die on that throne.
ReplyDeleteAmen! Don't mind silly brainwashed Africans that denounce all their culture to be Bible thumping slaves!
DeleteLinda, we are sick and tired of seeing Prince Charming's offensive display picture. Please show some decency and censor him and/or his picture from your blog, and spare us the filthy sight. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteSigned, your readers.
warri kingdom will crumble someday mark my word, where a 'tenant' becomes the king of a locality.
ReplyDeleteYou ain't seen nothing yet.
How did Itshekiri get to own warri in the first place? a kingdom built on false ideology will certainly... complete it yourself.
Omazo
Things fall apart of the 21st century The King should vacate his throne... You can't be a traditional ruler and serve God. Vacate the throne that way his people will be convinced of your new found tradition.
ReplyDeleteThese so called practices are indeed connected to the crown,u can't have the title and the crown then neglect the responsibities that comes with them..Also,Linda is correct he is the 'Olu of Warri' not the Olu of Itsekiri i.e if you know anything about warri at all, not just claiming u live there.
ReplyDeleteOlu of Warri, leave that throne, fast. Everybody in Nigeria seems to be a fake devout follower of religion but na we bad pass. So religious, yet if there is anything bad, we are top 5 in the world.
ReplyDeleteThe Olu of Warri has recanted. We are back to status quo ante. A needless distraction all the same. It shows that power belongs to the people. Kings should serve the people and not the other way round.
ReplyDeleteThere cannot be ca so the question of abdication is ruled out. The olu can only be replaced by reason of death. Those who banished the last one died in quick sucession.
ReplyDeleteChange can only come from inside. Warri as a town has declined over the years and keeps declining. This move will deliver the town from the shackles of the enemy.
Funny those who call for his head are those who sit in the front rows of churches on Sundays. Hypocrites we all are
the man is crazy, if he is a christian he should practice Christianity and leave the pagans to practice paganism. you shouldn't force your religion down the throat of other people; like some [people i know. the sooner Nigeria understand the motto: live and let's live the better. live and let's die is a james bond movie.
ReplyDeleteI love this development.....infact he should start killing them pagans sef.
ReplyDeleteFool
DeleteOur culture and tradition is slowly going into oblivion. SAD!
ReplyDeleteWhat the Olu has done is reminiscent of what kings of Israel who were described as good did. The Lord for whom he has decided to renounce all evil belieefs to serve will surely stand by him. What about you Liber; what things do you need to deny and follow Jesus? He that must follow Jesus must deny himself, take up his cross and follow him.Matt 16:24
ReplyDeleteHypocritical ruler! If you want nothing to do with pagan practices then step down.
ReplyDeleteLinda I'm an itsekiri girl and I'm proud of my culture. D bible says gv wah blongs to ceasar to ceasar n gv wah blongs to God to God. Wah he's doin is wrong cos dis tradition has bin dere long b4 he was even born. 4 christ's sake u can't impose christianity on sum1. Its optional. Since he chose to b born again he shld step down n face God instead
ReplyDeletePlease don't should not say he should leave the throne. That's why God placed him there. There's nothing connecting the throne to the devil. All things are for God. If you are a Christian, please pray for this man. He needs our prayer...and may this grace be extended to other villages in Nigeria in Jesus name.
ReplyDeleteP.S. if you don't know Jesus Christ, believe in HIM, receive HIM as your Lord and you die, YOU WILL GO TO HELL!
Dear Linda Ikeji, before you add to the current turmoil in Warri. Please be informed and inform your numerous readers that the Ogiame is the Olu of Itsekiris and it is the Itsekiri people that have issues with him not the "people of Warri" as you wrote. There are the Urhobos, Ijaws and Itsekiris in Warri town and these three ethnic groups have their individual kings and kingdom. The Itsekiris have the Iwere Kingdom. Why they chose to call they King the "Olu of Warri", we don't know. It is still being contested. They claim that they chose the name because the head quarter of 'Iwere' Kingdom is in a place they called 'Big Warri'. If you are familiar with Warri and it's history, you will be aware of the 'infamous' Warri Crisis. Their claim is one of the major issues that instigated the Crisis and the change of that name is still in process. The other ethnic groups only let things lie for now because the bloodshed was too much and they wanted peace to reign. Trust me the name will change sooner than later. So please address them as Itsekiris not the people of Warri before you start up another 'Warri Crisis'. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteStep down from the throne if you are that serious.
ReplyDeleteHalleluya to Jesus, God be praised, Jesus is coming soon.

They should berra shut up and thank God in heaven that they have a leader who is ready to choose the right path that they may all be saved from that self destruct line called "Tradition" they are all towing.
ReplyDeleteChristians talking about pagans wallowing in ignorance, yet most Christians are ignorant!
ReplyDeleteReligion is the opium to the masses.

I applaud the man (he's also very cute too) God is taking over Nigeria and if it starts from Warri so be it.

ReplyDeletealicia is back with her bad tongue. pagan you.
ReplyDeleteNope. I just don't have time for religious BS. Nigerians are the most holy yet the most backwards!
DeleteThe Olu,should abdicate the ancient throne . The olu is the custodian of the norms , value and customs of the people and if he now questions the traditional rights and beliefs .....he should step aside . On to the next one
ReplyDeleteI raise my glass a thousand times, congratulating one who declares God His ruler against all odds...
ReplyDeleteRoyal Olu, ur definite an amazing ONE OF A KIND!!!
And may all that U need to last a Celebrated Ruler, be Heavenly accorded to you a thousand folds, Amen!
Am waiting 4silvrbird man of d year award of 2013, let dis man name nt be mentioned,na dat time una go hear my own protest cos dis is 1 bold step i av heard in Nigeria in recent time. Thumbs up Sir, I hail o
ReplyDeleteWhy would he abdicate the throne ?he values de juicy benefits attached to de throne.point of correction he was not forced to ascend de throne, late chief rewane hand picked him for reasons best known 2 him.in modern day there is freedom of speech, association, religion etc.he should have consulted the council of chiefs, all stake holders and interest groups before taking the decision and lord it over all.RESPECT IS RECIPROCAL AND MUTUAL.
ReplyDeleteLeave The Throne! Simples!
ReplyDeleteThe very reason He was appointed king and its going to curse a ripple effect on other local traditional kingdoms and people of warri should be careful and support their king,I want to believe that king is still pleading and interceding on behalf of the ignorant protesters. God bless the king.
ReplyDeletein my opinion..its a stupid move. its a traditional post so you either live by it or you back the f off. give to ceasar wat belongs to caesar..shikenah!..in a nut shell, leave the throne dude and follow Oluwa.
ReplyDeleteIs nt olu O̶̷̩̥̊͡f warri is olu of itsekiri dats the truth abt dis bcos if is really olu O̶̷̩̥̊͡f warri į̸̸̨τ̲̅ wud have affect evrybody living in warri buh is only d itsekiri is affecting some of us don't even have any idea abt dis argument and fr dat person dat say God die fr our sin plss is nt God is JESUS messenger of God nobody have seen God.
ReplyDeleteSOMETIMES, I LIKE TO TIE MY TWO LEGS TOGETHER AND PRETEND THAT I'M A MERMAID.
ReplyDeleteTHE GREAT ONE
If there is a protest its among the itsekiris, He is olu of itsekiri not Olu of Warri. There is peace in warri. Linda abeg post this its important for everyone to know that there is peace in Warri
ReplyDeleteThe heart of the king is in God's hands. He chooses to do with it what he wants. I am happy he made the right choice and I pray for the mercy and grace of God to guide him through.
ReplyDeleteHE IS OLU OF WARRI. BOTH BIG AND SMALL WARRI. ALL OF YOU CLAIMING OTHERWISE ARE JUST PLAIN IGNORANT!!!!!

ReplyDeletetradition is man made therefore the olu of warri is free to alter any part of this ridiculous man made traditions of his forefathers who did not know about Christ Jesus.he has declared as Joshua in the bible did that he and his household would serve the Lord.Congrats the olu of warri.may God continue to guide you in this decision to be his son.
