President Jonathan's Special Assistant on New Media, Reno Omokri, has responded to Mallam El Rufai's interview yesterday where he called Mr president incompetent. Reno's response below...
Having read Malam Nasir Elrufai'sinterview in the Saturday Sun of September 14, 2013, I am compelled to present facts to set the records straight in order that the general public is not misled by the machinations of a man who is in dire need of prayers and perhaps psychological assistance.
Nasir Elrufai said "Nothing can make Jonathan succeed. He is grossly incompetent, he doesn’t listen, he doesn’t even understand the issues. I am sorry! I know the man more than those that are shouting with Jonathan because when he was my friend, none of them even knew him. I knew Jonathan as a deputy governor in 2002. That was when I first met him and we have been relating. So, all these new found Jonathan lovers should just shut up. I know him and I know what he can do and what he cannot do. So, please, they should just leave me alone. Those that want jobs can go and take jobs. I don’t want".
Now, let me start by saying that Nasir Elrufai lied when he said this and there is documentary evidence to prove this. For instance, contrary to what he said in this interview, Nasir Elrufai at a meeting with Ambassador John Campbell in April of 2007 said that the then Vice Presidential nominee of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan "is clean and honest". Going further, Elrufai told the ambassador that "Governor Jonathan was the only candidate that met Obasanjo’s guidelines- honesty and Ijaw”. Unknownto Elrufai, the ambassador kept a record of their conversation which is now a public record in America.
Beyond that, Nasir Elrufai, who had gone into voluntary exile under the presidency of Malam Umaru Musa Yar'adua after
he was accused of corruption and abuse of office while he was minister
of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, felt safe enough to return to
Nigeria as soon as President Jonathan ascended to power.
When Elrufai returned to Nigeria, in 2010, he visited the President at Aso Rock
Presidential Villa on May 11, 2010, and was the first major political
figure to call on President Jonathan to contest for the 2011
presidential election. Elrufaialso praised President Jonathan openly.
The Holy Bible says in James 1:8 "A double minded man is unstable in all his ways". I think this biblical verse best describes Nasir Elrufai. Elruf ai in this his latest interview showers encomiums on Major General Muhammadu
Buhari saying "I think that where Nigeria is today, only someone like Buhari,
with the experience of having run the country before, and having run it
along certain principles of discipline, integrity and accountability,
that Nigeria needs".
However, this is what the same Elrufai had to say aboutBuhari on October 6 2010 " Mallam El-Rufai wishes to remind General Buhari that
he has remained perpetually unelectable because his record as military
head of state, and afterwards, is a warning that many Nigerians have
wisely heeded. His insensitivity to Nigeria’s diversity and his
parochial focus are already well-known. In 1984, Buhariallowed 53 suitcases belonging
to his ADC’s father to enter Nigeria unchecked at a time the country
was exchanging old currency for new. Against all canons of legal
decency, he used retroactive laws to execute three young men for
drug-peddling after they were convicted by a military tribunal and not
regular courts of law. Buhari was so high handed that he gave himself and his officials immunity
even from truthful reporting. That obnoxious Decree 4, against which
truth was no defence, was used to jail journalists and attempt to cow
the media as a whole. That tyrannical legislation shows the essence of
his intolerance. These are facts of recent history. The story of
counter-trade and import licensing, the cornerstone of Buhari’s stone-age economic strategy and those whose interests it served, is a tale for another day."
Now, how does one man go from warning the nation aboutBuhari as
a man unfit to govern Nigeria and one who is perpetually unelectable
because of his parochial nature to saying that he is the man that can
best lead this nation?
Is it not obvious to all that there is more than one personality in possession of the mind and soul of this man called NasirElrufai? Can any sane person trust the words of a man who is so unstable?
Today, Elrufai, perhaps banking on what he thinks is the short memory of
Nigerians is attempting to rewrite history. But it is such a difficult task to paint over the truth with a lie.
Nasir Elrufai wanted something from the President which was why he visited him at the Presidential Villa to heapunsolicited
praise on the president in 2010. When he did not get what he wanted, he
became bitter and since the days of yore when the fox that could not
get the grapes tagged them 'sour grapes' to mask its frustration, it has
always been the habit of persons who cannot compete on the basis of ideas to give a dog a bad name in order to hang it. Thus, Elrufai, having run out of ideas, has tagged this administration as 'incompetent'. But as they say in law, Res Ipsa Loquitor, (thefacts speaks for themselves).
In just this past month alone, we have seen a fulfilment of two major Jonathanian promises. The Akanu Ibiam Airport is now officially an International Airport as its facilities have been upgraded to meet ICAO standards and it received its first international commercial flight. Also, the rail services have been revived from Apapa Port to the North.
In
these two instances, the Jonathan administration has put money back in
the wallets of Nigerian citizens. Every time someone flies
internationally from the Akanu Ibiam Airport, he saves sixty thousand Naira that would have been spent paying for connecting flights to Lagos, Port Harcourt or Abuja. And every time you receive a container by rail in Northern Nigeria from Apapa Port, you would have savedperhaps fifty thousand Naira that would have been spent on additional cost from hauling your container by road.
And this is just for last month. Time would not permit me to highlight the 153 Almajiri schools built in every state of the North to serve our children who are engaged in the almajirinciform of Qu'ranic education (a total of 400 are to be delivered), or the ongoing reconstruction (not repair) of the
Lagos-Ibadan road for which 167 billion has already been reserved to
prevent the project being an abandoned project, or the dredging of the
River Niger up to Baro in Niger state to make
that port accessible to ships, or the establishment of the Green Belt
Zone along Nigeria's Northern borders to end desertification, or the
signing of the HYPADEC bill into law to enable the people of the Hydro
Electric producing areas benefit from their God given resources, or the
current massive multi billion Naira efforts to save the Lake Chad from
drying up. This is besides the fact that those states which did not have
a federal university prior to President Jonathan's ascendancy now have
at least one university, thanks to this administration's establishment
of nine new universities.
I
have identified these projects on purpose because they were meant to be
priority projects of yore but were however left unattended until one
man called Jonathan Goodluck entered the scene.
Why
has it taken an "incompetent" President Jonathan to grow Nigeria's
economy at over 6% per annum since he ascended to the presidency? Why
has it taken an "incompetent" administration to get Nigeria to be
promoted from a "Low Income Nation" to a "Middle Income Nation" by the World Bank? Again, it took an incompetent administration to ensure Nigeria won its first African Cup of Nations in 19 years. If previous administrations had been this 'incompetent',
then Nigeria would have long since overtaken South Africa as Africa's
largest economy, but we did not achieve this feat until an 'incompetent'
Jonathan was brought to office by the votes of over 22 million
Nigerians.
In this latest interview, Elrufai boasts that he is a "self-made man". Even this statement is a sad reflection of the irreligious state of Nasir Elrufai's mind.
People who say they are "self made" should read The Book of Daniel and
see what God did to Nebuchadnezzar after he made such a boast. Nobody is
self made. Does it make mathematical sense to believe that the God who
has numbered the hairs on your head has no input into the opportunities
that came your way?
In a Wikileaks document, an identified American diplomat revealed that Elrufai was "personally known to him to be homeless" before he got into government. Now Elrufai has
never sued the diplomat for libel or slander. But today, this man who
was known by a U.S. diplomat to be homeless now boasts that " I was already a self-made man when I came into government". Since when did homelessness amount to being "self-made"?
And Elrufai further
showed his disconnect with the realities around him when he boasted in
his interview that "there is no one who sat at the table with us when we
were making these decisions and advancing these arguments that have
come out to say that what I wrote there [his book, The Accidental Public
Servant] is not true". This statement is so easy to demolish. As at the
last count, the following persons have come out very publicly on the
front and back pages of newspapers to say that what Elrufai wrote is a lie; former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, former Economics and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu, former Central Bank Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, former Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim amongst others. In fact, NuhuRibadu was reported in the Punch of February the 19th 2013 to have said that "There is a huge integrity deficiency" inElrufai's book!
Does Elrufai have such a record for truth that we can say that his word outweighs the words of these gentlemen?
In any case, let me conclude by saying that Malam NasirElrufai has problems that may not be known to the generality of Nigerians and certainly by his current bed fellows in the All Progressive Congress. In his book, The Accidental Public Servant, Elrufai had
terrible and nasty things to say about those whose backs he had already
climbed on and reserved encomiums for those whose backs he needs to
climb on. That alone speaks volumes of his character and should alert
his current associates to the proverb that a slave who sees his fellow
buried in shallow grave should know that he would receive the same
treatment when his time comes.

No peace for each and everyone of you right from when ure in office and after u leave office, the rest of your lives shall be in agony and pain....unless you consider the poor masses and stop making our very own country hard on us!
ReplyDeleteThank you...!
DeleteHmmmm political higgy-hagga
ReplyDeleteKrinkum-krankum.
all I can deduce from this whole epistle is that Reno is defending his master just like Rufai was used in Obj administration to witchhunt baba's percieved enemies.
Let the good works of GEJ do the talking for him.

ReplyDeleteAt this rate the next generation of Nigeria's leaders could be 5 year olds and be just as effective. Meanwhile somewhere in Nigeria, women are dying like flies from childbirth in appalling medical institutions, people are getting robbed and NEPA just took light. Mtchew.
ReplyDeleteRubbish
ReplyDeleteNa look we dey look. We'll see where these will lead us 2.
ReplyDeleteYou know what's sad?
ReplyDeleteThe fact that neither of these men can be trusted.
GEJ responds to nearly every tantrum thrown at him(be it online or print media)and that makes him come off as a shaky and untruthful character.
Nasir El-Ruffai on the hand, not only talks from both sides of his mouth but appears to be a fair-weather friend.
Bunch of goons,if you ask me.
Asuu strike- incompetency. Growing up I was thought that continuity is a principle of goverment, Oga jona wat happened.+ Elrufai we re nt dumb,if u were benefitting from dis goverment, maybe ur book wuld be tittled "The messiah".

ReplyDeleteThe Same Reno Omokri that told the world, Jonathan and Patience are not involved in the Rivers State Crises.
ReplyDeleteReno, you are paid to do what you are currently doing, Keep it up.
na una sabi all
ReplyDeleteIf Jonathan is nt imcompetent, y is asuu nd all odas on strike. He is highly imcompetent sef
ReplyDeleteMide
Is this all that Reno has got to contribute to nation building to earn his salary and huge allowances in the Presidency? Instead of having Abati, Okupe and Gullak as well as the Information Minister in one govt to be draining and wasting our common wealth, Jona should just retain one of them to protect our ears and preserve our scarce resources. Political jobbers everywhere! Hissssssss.......
ReplyDeleteEl rufia is indeed a fool.dis APC pple self.
ReplyDeleteWhat of all the stories of corruption that has been swept under the carpet? Farouk/Otedola(subsidy) issue has become a forgotten issue now. So many similar tales which have become body creams for the masses to rub on and go about like it's normal. I don't care for ElRufai or anyone of u guys for that matter, u all are the same. Reuben Abati talk pass this one, now he has turned to jonathan's ass licker, so nothing is new to us. U all are just after one job or post or the other. All the nonsense projects that u listed above Mr Reno, how many directly benefits the masses? How many employments has that created? How much does it curb the corruption which has become the major cancer in this nation, and the hallmark of the so called leaders, and for that matter, with impunity. You have nothing to say to convince me of Jonathan's competence. He is lousy at his job, lacking in focus, needs a lot more schooling in terms of public appearances and addresses, and too hideous. I always have this feeling that he's hiding something. Those "cabals" who have been caught in one shady deal or the other should be severly punished, but No. This only encourages more people to be corrupt. And u come here to tell me he's doing projects. Projects that people will still steal from? Biko, getout of here Mr asslicker. So annoying bunch
ReplyDeleteStatistics speak for itsef...d whole agenda of d so called nothern extraction is not about jonathan competence as a president but dier quest to wrestle power frm him....dere r trying every tin possible to discredit dis man but God is watching....d promise to mke d country ungovernable for him, dat dere achieve thru boko Haram insurgency,,,now it is new PDP...dis is purely christian-muslim Dichotomy if not so let dem present a Christian candidate frm d North!
ReplyDeleteiam not frm south east of Nigeria, but y has an ibo man not allowed to Rule dis country??
Secondly frm d North central were I came frm d we hve bin marginalised by d so called core North politically,,,we must put a stop to dis Northern Bulshit and oligachial cabalism....God Nigeria..
Linda post my comment o!
ReplyDeleteMy take: Omokri is right to defend his master. Elrufai is too harsh with his criticism of the President. Elrufai is also guilty as charged for double-speaking. Elrufai is right that Jonathan doesn't understand issues . He appears too naive to me. Omokri should know that he is supposed to be silent on accusing elrufai for double speaking because his media partner, Abati once hit out at Patience Jonathan in a widely published article . He is now a champion in the defence of the first family.
ReplyDeleteWow,very interesting essay...Lol,make una leave oga Jona alone abeg.......habatically speaking,he has tried
ReplyDeleteNasir elrufai is an ingrate and a pained man
ReplyDeleteMake una leave oga Jona alone haba!!

ReplyDeletePolitics, politics, politics. All I see is politics and 2015. They r playing politics with the welfare of the masses.
ReplyDeleteIt's obvious dat El Rufai is disgruntled but he's in d opposition and so what do u expect him to say. On Jonathan, I would hv loved this hired spokesman to address the ASUU strike, Power issue, insecurity in d land, hunger and starvation, complete breakdown of law and order, infrastructure issues etc. The truth is that d common man in d street has not felt the impact of d Jonathan govt. Raise ur hand if u disagree.
I love ds piece. Its Jonathan all d way come 2015!
ReplyDeleteonly he who wears the shoes knows where it hurts.. who no go no know... until u seat on the presidential seat then you can judge jona even at that you still cant judge

ReplyDeleteAm not a jona fan but having bought and read the book the accidental public servant by Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai; I ve at the conclusion he is schizophrenic n a betrayer. LAFIA
ReplyDeleteLet all these old politicians go and rest. You've all had the chance of making this country a better place and failed. Even the good ones among them(if there are any) should go and sit down because there refusal to act made evil prevail in this country of ours.
ReplyDeleteEl Rufai has always struck me as a rude prostitute that jumps into bed with the highest bidder because going by his track records, he's always had at least two different opinons about any personality or issue. And that makes him a liar.
That's not to say that his views about Jonathan is completely out of line or that Buhari is not more of a regional leader/bigot. But simply put, El Rufai lacks the credibility to condemn anybody.
Am not a jona fan but having bought and read the book the accidental public servant by Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai; I ve at the conclusion he is schizophrenic n a betrayer. LAFIA

ReplyDeletePlease check the pulse of the nation on the economy. That's what they do in civilized world.
ReplyDeleteEspecially in the US when even the elites do not agree with you and pple do that will comfort you.
But it seems both agree in the case of Jonathan.
Reno shup up as @d time Nasir el_rufail made dat statment in 2007 ur boss was nt as corrupt as he is nw and u also said dat d lagos ibadan express way is underconstruction dats a big lie.if a may ask where has ur boss mum(GEJ mum) acquired money from 2build d hostels in d university in bayelsa wen we kno dat ur boss mum (GEJ) could nt afford to buy her son a pair of rubber sanda while he was in school and hw Dame sponsored him through out is education and now you come 2tell us ur boss is nt corrupt even u (Reno) is corrupt so get a life dude and seat ur ass down

Rubbish,Houseboy Jonathan is a big failure,he did absolutely. Nothing as Gov of Bayelsa and has equally done nothing as the President of Nigeria.if GEJ is the best we ca n produce in Nigeria then we are finished. I know many from the South south that are a 100 times better and more exposed than our man Jona.

ReplyDeleteAll of them be ole....na dat we wan chop. Darrrrrr
ReplyDeleteNo one takes El-Rufai seriously again. Reno is wasting his time with the rebuttal.
ReplyDeleteThis whole Reno's method of attacking the opposition is sad. Like i tweeted,
ReplyDelete"Reno is obviously delivering for his master. Whipping up sentiments, stereo-types, near truths with clear truths to drive home his point"
For instance, those who didnt read the article should take a second and read this point, then go back and see how Reno Omokri twisted it to mean 'self-made', when even el rufai admits no one makes it alone. this is just one example of how Reno twists the truth. Nigerians, shine your eyes!
Question:
But some are of the opinion that because of the role he played in your life, you ought not to have criticized him in the book.
El Rufai
That is a wrong conception. First, what role did he play in my life? Did he educate me? Did he give me my skills and my abilities? It is utter nonsense. All right? I was already a self-made man when I came into government. So, nobody can start boasting that he played a dominant role in my life. We all get to where we are with the intervention of others. So, I am not denying that Atiku played a role, but what role? And does that mean that I am his slave for life? Does that mean that when he does something that is unlawful, I will not complain? Or does that mean that when he does something against the overall interest of Nigeria, I should accept it? That is utter nonsense and it is that kind of sycophancy that draws Nigeria to where it is.
Personally, am not on any side in terms of our political rulers which is my prefered term for what we have as a nationa. However, this write up is so childish. If you believe you are working or ur boss is working let the populace make their decision. My country Nigeria will only be great when we all stand for the Truth. Until then, this political, tribe, or religious intrest will get us no where except further down the dark lane. Am hoping for a Nigeria where we will stand come the next election and bring leaders with a workable vision and not focus on party, religion or tribe.
ReplyDeletena dem sabi oh.............
ReplyDeleteSlow news day Linda? Abi why the old testament lenght dull story by this Ben Okri (sic) guy?

ReplyDeleteThis elrifai or whatever he calls himself is a stupid man, why can't he just respect himself and leave Nigerians alone, Nigeria is a Nation and not anybody 's personal property, the idiot was the same person that said anambra state doesn't have anything whereas all the beggars at anambra are his brothers and anambra state accommodated them, he should please try to respect his elders so that he will be respected in future.

ReplyDeleteHe took El Rufai to the cleaners!
ReplyDeleteWell said...thanks madam. The man talks too much...should be quiet by now
ReplyDeleteShameless midget of a man. el Rufai!!
ReplyDeleteWell I can categorically say that both Mr El rufai and Mr Reno Omokri are pathetic liars. Oh because you have evidence to show el rufia is a double mouth man you think we will believe your own story about jonathan? Please save yourself the stress cuz we don't buy it. El Rufai now you see that its only in yoruba adage that you can't retrieve spoken words, this time words spoken are taped, recorded and filed for future reference. The question is, with all this being said about your past and present word for and against jonathan and buhari, who will believe anything else you have to say in times to come? We already know all of you politicians lie for living so don't try to pretend as a saint and to you Reno, who else will you speak for if not your oga at the top? You are like his house maid, you say what he want you to say and sometimes say good of your boss because labor market hard now o. So y'all should take several seat, we know what we know. Stop using lie to cover up lie again all in the quest for 2015. Nigerians please be wise, don't be fooled again vote for a change
ReplyDeleteNawao!
ReplyDeleteElrufia shut up. U cudnt evn manage abuja wel. De low n middle class r findin hard to stay in abj. Leave Mr president alone! Cos if u wia in hs shoes am sure nigerian wo dnt av money wil migrate to niger.
ReplyDeleteEl Rufai is obviously seeking relevance at all cost. His inability to score a hit with his fictitious story book has made him a desparate who will stop at nothing to remain on the front pages of the media. HE Goodluck Ebele Jonathan remains the most competent democratic leader to rule Nigeria. El Rufai should please refrain from casting aspersions on our President. Can El Rufai win a free and fair election in his local government area? Let him show us how competent he is and run for elective office.
ReplyDeleteI still believe no man can be the president of a nation without God's backing. Remember what Davil said about King Saul, he is God appointed.
ReplyDeleteEl-Rufai is just an oppotunist. He has never won an election and will never win one.He is a typical instance of One who bites the finger that feeds him.
ReplyDeleteHmmm...politics! 2015 go bloody oh! Buh wat has Jonathan done about education? Apart from the new universities he opened and the skuls he built for the almajiris(which no concern me),wat has he done about asuu strike situation that has rendered all federal and state undergraduates 'schooless'? Reno boycotted that in his long note;well, that's my utmost concern! Annie sayz so!
ReplyDeleteSmh.. Same gist, different participants. Nija..
ReplyDeleteIts all abt POLITICS
ReplyDeleteHmmn, Nigeria we hail thee.
ReplyDeleteHopeless leaders, idiots God purnish all of you
ReplyDeleteSo linda you refused to post all the comments I made today shey? No wahala o!
ReplyDeleteReno will also change this script played out today by the time he finds himself at the other side of the divide. Nigerian are more intelligent now than before. Our votes will not come out of the things written on the pages of newspaper rather on what we can see. Even Mr president himself can not call one names but u find solace in doing that. You are just fighting for your own pocket. No difference between you (Reno) and El-Rufai. Please spare us abegiiii.
ReplyDeleteI wonder sometimes if GEJ aides has sawdust in their heads. Gulak is a dumb head, Reno is worse,Okupe is an old fool, oghadolme is greedy,Oronto is intelligent buh lacK sense, that's wat u get wen u re in position of authority and u circle urself with ur ppl. They will never give u gud advice cos they will be scared to tell u the truth. GEJ shld not spoil our party.
ReplyDeleteU ve said it all, porous set of individuals
DeleteAt the end of the day, it all boils down to what we as individuals think about the president, not based on what anybody else says. So ask yourself this question Mr. President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Are you competent enough? Until you prove beyond every reasonable doubt that you are, there is no point defending yourself. We all can see because we are not blind!
ReplyDeleteIs dis a new portfolio " new media " i dont think dis one is any different from Abati, his write up was so petty and watery, it lacks substance, it doesnt tell well of mr president surrounding himself wit des his village kinsmen. Are des d best products his region or state can offer? too bad!
ReplyDeleteDis useless El-rufai dat is openin his gutter mouth 2 speak ill of GEJ govt, wat positive contribution did he do as FCT minister? Afta demolishin pple houses n renderin dem homeless wat did he do wit d land? I tink El-rufai shld be banned 4rm speakin or contributin 2 anytin dat concerns Nigeria. he deserve 2 bath wit raw acid. Wicked n heartless man. Useless midget @ El-rufai
ReplyDeleteIf el roofire has done very well in his time, may be we could listen to him,el roofire please let the country be with your hate!!!
ReplyDeleteThe tittle should be 'Elrufai, uncovered'. If you read the full comments of Soludo's review of the Accidental the Public Servant, you ll understand that the author is fully insane.
ReplyDeleteSOMETIMES, I TIE MY TWO LEGS TOGETHER AND PRETEND THAT I'M A MERMAID.
ReplyDeleteTHE GREAT ONE
This Reno is too intelligent and sharp. You are doing a good job for your Master.
ReplyDeleteOne thing we got to learn in all these is that revolution in this country is sure. Our leaders are pushing us to the wall and we must definitely bounce back. Things are very hard in this country. I wish they will disguise themselves and live like ordinary person to see the sufferings that their leadership has caused Nigerians. But i must say Elrufai must be brought to book by all the innocent lives he damaged by destroying peoples hard earned money without compensation due to greedy and corruption in his mind.
ReplyDeleteReno Omokri is just so fucking silly!!!
ReplyDeleteJona is incompetent simple.if he is not, why all the responses from abait, reno, okupe & co?this is becoming too childish. Haba, wakeup from ur slumber - never see yeye govt like this.must you response to everything.stupid idle govt..please don't dare contest in 2015 period, Jona, you are not competent to rule country like nigeria.i know reno & abati will soon reponse to bloggers - fooolish
