Another crisis is brewing in Rivers State. Early this evening, the convoy of the governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi was prevented from using one of the two entrances to the Government House in Port Harcourt by a team of police. The governor's convoy was stopped by four truck loads of
policemen as it made its way through the private gate of the governor's official residence. The policemen, led by several senior officers, claimed they were acting on orders from above.
After about 45 minutes of arguing, which included Governor Amaechi himself coming down from his car to speak with the policemen, the governor's convoy had not choice but to leave and take another road to access the main entrance into the Government House. See more photos after the cut...

ReplyDeleteGovernment shoud give room for healthy opposition and don't try every means to suffocate them.
How secured id Rivers state now when the chief security officer is not in control of the Police in his state.

ReplyDeleteHmmm....woh is happening? This country ain't safe no more.
ReplyDeleteNa wa ooo
ReplyDeleteOur "humble" Goodluck Ebere Jonathan is now a tyrant. He keeps reaffirming his status as a tyrant everyday, He's handling the crises in his party poorly. At times I wonder if he secretely has military background.how can you sack ministers that had on-going projects just because of your "beef" with their governors??, lock a governor out of his own house?? 2015 shall tell! I'd have to be high of marijuana to vote for the "man with no shoes". There is not humility in his governance
ReplyDeleteWhoa, old PDP is still strong. Guess Amaechi isn't a governor again. Y would he be refused from entering the Gov. House via his normal route, he's now a commoner.
ReplyDeleteThat's not govt house, that's forces avenue a street leading to the govt house... they were barricading adjourning streets aroundthe secretariat of the "new pdp"... I live in PH and I saw this myself first hand.. Sahara got it wrong this time

ReplyDeleteits really sad that all of this is happening when we have a president from d south. how much more ridicule can d president and his wife put themselves through cos all they're doing to this man is just to show how thoughtless they are about d development of d south.
ReplyDeleteabsolute shame.
WOW, this is getting childish now. A governor is not alowed into his own residence!
ReplyDeleteCan someone tell me wat's really going on wit mr president n mr governor?
ReplyDeleteCant they just live this man alone...must he dance to thier tune...?
ReplyDeleteI don comment 1st 2day
Jonathan is rili taking dis 2 far, tf is he's problem. Hw dare he prevent a governor from entering the gvernment house. Nw am highly disappointed nd pissed
ReplyDeletePower pass power. Jonathan is really showing Amaechi that the the latter is no more in charge in Rivers State. Only God knows where all these will end. Anyway, we never for one day had true democracy in Nigeria so one should not be surprised. In this country, only might is right
ReplyDeleteSeriously, whats up with this drama, the president should stop this unnecessary show of power, later he will make a public speech of not been aware of this. Instead of trying to rid the country of corruption,he is fighting for election coming up in two years.
ReplyDeleteI pity this country.
By the way,first to comment,*winking *

ReplyDeleteThis is just d height! Which kain yeye order from above. Jonathan n patience, Una be territorial powers, principalities, and rulers of darkness. Leave amaechi alone! U sacked 9 ministers for no good reason n nau u r terrorizn ur subordinates. Which way Oga Jona, which wayyyyy?

ReplyDelete#FirstTOComment!!!yeppe!!
it have well o for Rivers state.
ReplyDeleteGod save Rivers, God save Nigeria!
Biko Linda it's a lie! I live in old GRA. This Amaechi no dey try sha. There are several routes to the Govt House and Amaechi rarely uses the route. For Amaechi to have taken that particular route on a day when d police sealed off the factional pdp secretariat is just to cause trouble and as usual sensationalize his stories. But you know what someday the truth will be exposed and those who sow the seeds of discord and disunity shall reap same.
ReplyDeleteNa wa ooooo
ReplyDeleteThings re gettin serious......woundering who order doz men to do so
ReplyDeleteIs this meant to be an issue? So there is a main entrance. Why was he not taking it? And when he found out that the other entrance had be sealed off, why bother challenging the orders of security operatives when he didn't use the right option in the first place? He is a governor, not above the law and answers to the people as well.
ReplyDeleteThe amount of abuse democrazy has suffered in Nigeria, especially this GEJ dispensation is appaling. All this rubbish stemming from an election Amaechi won! BTW WTF is governor's forum but another avenue to squander national and fiscal resources. Hmm I fear for the future of Nigeria! It is not looking good AT ALL! The levels of lawlessness on all levels is unbecoming. Yesterday I read that soldiers beat up their superior in Borno! Nigeria is being dragged in the mud like a 2 bit criminal in the eyes of the international community, I am sure they'd be amazed at the happenings in this here country. Lesser things as this have inspired coup in other countries, sad thing that our military has been neutered. A military dispensation right wouldn't be half bad, in fact it is the same. I SMELL A REVOLUTION AND WHEN IT COMES THERE WILL BE BLOOD! This people should know we Nigerians have had enough.
ReplyDeleteAnd we say we run a democracy? This is a bloody authoritarian government and has the handprints of our clueless president, his wife and Nyesom Wike. How can you insult the office of a state Chief Executive. This is arrant none sense
ReplyDeleteAnd we say we run a democracy? This is a bloody authoritarian government and has the handprints of our clueless president, his wife and Nyesom Wike. How can you insult the office of a state Chief Executive. This is arrant none sense
ReplyDeleteIt's. Undemocratic. 4 d.order from above to stop a sitting. Gov from accessing his office.

Y is IG of police into politics like dis,dis country is drifting backwards under dis jona too much,it so crude and stupid to stop a chief executive of a state like dt.can't people hv opinion and ambition again?
ReplyDeleteThe story of d whole scenario might be for his own protection cos I don't believe d Nigerian police I know has dt much right of stopping a serving Governor from te Government house!
ReplyDeleteWhen will all these professional thieves called politicians stop disgracing themselves all coz of their greed to hold onto power coz of the money they steal? Linda, abeg bring better news give us, forget all these shameless n greedy old fools. For all the money they steal and all the hardship they cause poor masses, peace will elude them.
ReplyDeleteHmmmmmm!this is getting out of hand o,they had better settle this bitterness and political fight b4 something serious happens in d city.
ReplyDeletejesus! governor is not even respectd in his own teritory..what is nigeria becuming
ReplyDeleteHmmm... Acting on order from above, I just don't know why some 'Ogas' at the top wont let 'the sleeping dog lies' and allow peace to reign in this country.
ReplyDeleteNa wa o, which "order from above". Which above sef? Anyway sha........frankoliko
ReplyDeleteAm speechless.....just watching.
ReplyDeleteAmaechi is an idiot, suits him well. Busy frolicking with northerners, u are a betrayal and disgrace to us. Idiot, support ur own
ReplyDeleteHa! This photos worry sha o,One can barely see what exactly went wrong...Anyways,am sure there's more to this drama#we are waiting patiently for season 2 :)

ReplyDeleteHad to comment. This is total bullshit. President jona is jst plain stupid. He just enjoys creaing crisis. Pple keep sayn obasanjo is d problem of PDP bt mst pple r too blind to see dt jonathan is d problem of PDP nd even Nigeria as a whole. Come 2015 God knows I aint gonna vote for him! ##fact
ReplyDeleteLinda its very true, cause I was there before the Governor came, one of the policemen told me they saw some people hoisting the Nigerian & PDP flags in front of the building that severed as the campaign office for the Gov during the last election, so they received a call informing them that Ameachi & the new PDP members want 2 use that place as their own Secretariat. So they were asked to stop the Gov & his led faction of the party. My dear the blockage started from 1pm in the afternoon oooh, I had to park my car on the road & trekked to my house that was after l had spent over 3hrs there walting 4 them 2 search me b4 passIng .
ReplyDeletenigerian democracy at work
ReplyDeleteJonathan or Dame is definately behind this, dnt kno y they should b doing this. Ameachi needs 2 b extra careful cos they wanna bring him totally down. Ameachi dis is a fight to win. Dnt giv up.

ReplyDeleteThis is embarrassment to Nigeria democracy n our oga at d top for playing childish politics.
ReplyDeleteOur democracy is broken, cursed b the day Jonathan Became President, cursed be the day everyone closed thier eyes to this...cursed be the day that our Military closed thier eyes to this.
ReplyDeleteThis is a complete example of irresponsible people leading responsible men, I wonder how GEJ and his cohorts want Amaechi to effectively perform his duties as an executive Governor of rivers State or want us to vote his failed government back into the presidential seat in 2015 when he have not stopped engaging the Governor in this show of shame. Jst tired of this country and the so-called leaders who see politics as a do or die affair, who intimidate those they are suppose to be leading and even the leaders that are under them e.t.c.

ReplyDeleteSMH for GEJ... Hin just dey do anyow, he forgets that he'll leave that throne 1 day.Tank God that man isn't God o, Linda post my comment
ReplyDelete*Baby face
The police did not block Amaechi. Govt House, PH has 3 gates. The official gate is along Azikiwe Road. Amaechi and his crowd refused to use that official gate because he wanted to be in the news. The 2nd gate is near the RS Secretariat and it's open. There is the third gate which is along Forces Avenue, which is a private gate or better still, an escape route. On the same forces Avenue is where Amaechi opened a parallell PDP Secretariat in defiance of a court order. Police blocked the portion of the road where the illegal secretariat is located to avoid a breakdown of law and order. The point blocked by the police is a great distance of about 300 meters from the 3rd gate of GHPH and there are many other streets cutting off that blocked point. Amaechi clearly wanted to defile the police and that is why he and his crowd passed through the point where the police blocked the road. When he got to the blocked road, he wanted to show that he is a superman and he challenged the police. The police refused to unblock that spot and he later went to follow the main gate which is the proper gate.
