How US embassy denied visa to Nigerian beauty queen while in full queen regalia

Fiona Amuzie won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria in 2010 and recently told a story of how she was denied visa at the US embassy while wearing a glamourous dress, her sash and her crown.

The second year student of the University of Coventry, UK, recalls
"I think the most embarrassing moment for me happened at the US embassy. As a queen, I went there for the US visa in my full regalia, the dress, the crown, everything. And you won't believe me, they denied me the visa. It was so embarrassing. I later went back after my reign as Fiona Amuzie and this time they gave me."

    Going to the embassy with full regalia doesn't automatically assure getting a visa, you don't need to be erudite to know there are other formal factors and requirements, they had their reasons not granting her a visa.

    I might get in trouble for this...but i don't care... So here goes...I am glad she got rejected. The US embassy in Nigeria is like a Halloween party. Pastors dressed in full, nurses dressed up and the worst are the group trips with everyone spotting a printed shirt. Haba!     Hey! Do not blame them, they have seen 'Kings" and "Queen", "Bank Managers", 'Ministers", "Governors" disappear into the American system when given a visitor's visa, so, its hard to tell who is going to return except for maybe only Goodluck Jonathan, and that's because he has a job to do back there.

    Also the US law backs that action up:

    "Section 214(b) of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act creates the legal presumption that every visitor visa applicant is intending to immigrate. In order to be issued a visa, applicants must overcome this presumption. Applicants can overcome this presumption only by demonstrating to the consular officer that they have a residence abroad and compelling professional, financial and social ties to that residence."

    We pray that our country will be better someday and they will make it a visa free entry for us.

Go to angola and try such, or arrest and deport an angolan citizen in usa and see what they will to your ambassador. They will not only summon ur ambassador but if he doesn't give a tangible reason, they will deport him immediately. U don't mess with their citizen whether u be america or acirema. Nigerian govt only impressed me once when south african govt deported nigerians last year, they equally arrested their citizens here and deported them immediately which led them SA govt sueing for peace. Things like that happen when a govt is functioning well.

    I don't know which is more shocking, the fact that the US embassy denied Visa to a beauty queen (who the organizers should have just applied for on a VIP thing, she wudn't even need to be dere) or the comments on here...

    I think there is a problem with our government, the consulate and our diplomats, cos issues like this should not be taken lightly at all. In fact the ambassador should be releasing a statement denying it, or apologizing

"While still in her Full regalia" is an expressin Linda used to explain to us that the Queen was still reigning while the incident took place. You'd be really dumb to even think that she wore all that clothing to go get a Visa.     As far I know that's not a prerequisite to getting a Visa. That was a dumb move. People will forever be foolish in Nigeria. There is a Visa application form that you fill out and whatever information is required from you is what will determine the approval, not by wearing that crown or whatever you may call it
