The hotel in Onitsha where 2 human heads were allegedly discovered

This is the popular hotel in Onitsha that was demolished by the Anambra State government last week after two human skulls were allegedly discovered inside. The hotel, called Upper Class Hotel, is located at 8 Old Market Road, Onitsha and is owned by business man, Mr Bonaventure Mokwe.

The human skulls, a male and a female head, were discovered after the Nigerian police raided the hotel following a tip off. Mr Mokwe has been arrested along with 10 other people. Continue...

His wife, Mrs Nkiru Mokwe, a lawyer, has appealed to president Jonathan to save her husband's life claiming he was set up. She said the whole thing was a set up and the human heads planted in the hotel by people who wanted to destroy her husband.
“My husband is being detained in a very dehumanising condition at SARS, Awkuzu, and the police have denied him access to his lawyer and relations." She said "My husband’s hotel at No 8, Old Market Road, Onitsha which he inherited from his father, Chief G.C Mokwe, has been demolished"
She said her husband was a real estate magnate and there were lots of conflicts over ownership of lands between him and some people which led to his attempted assassination in 2009. She also alleged that the state government was planning to demolish other properties belonging to Mr Mokwe and begged for intervention.

Or did they just wake up one fine morning and decide to raid the hotel? I feel its a set up sha d guy should hire a really good lawyer after all the heads were found in the hotel not his house and hotels are public places where people come and go everyday.

How would a governor order the destruction of a crime scene? what has happened to the accused given the right to a fair trial in a competent court?
As to whether the accused is guilty or not i cannot say, but we should learn to do things right. This is clearly a case of jungle justice.

  113. I just don't whose side 2 lean on now. But if if the suspects wife is sayingg d truth, I hope God will deliver him and their family from this storm n Hope those that want their destruction will be destroyed first. On d other hand, if this suspect is guilty, may d full wrath of the law befall him n his accomplices.

But one question I want 2 ask about this case is, why did govt of d state destroy this building when d case is still active, the man is just a suspect, and he hasn't been tried and found guilt in d court if law yet.

This case also shows how the govts arms in Naija help 2 perpetrate d mediocrity and unprofessionalism that has burdened naija law enforcement apparatus in d that country.

I mean, this is a typical case where d law enforcement In naija will lean towards public sentiments, thus compromising d legal execution of justice b4 acting.
K, doesn't d govt understand that that building destroyed now is a crucial part of evidence that help d prosecution or can d the defense of d suspect in this case.

I mean destroying that building while d case is still active can easily help d suspect win the case if it's here in d US, but too bad this is naija, who knows the powers that want destroy this man...or is he really guilty. Time will tell

  141. I don't know why but I believe the heads were planted by some1. They must hv tried to kill d man severally but failed then they decided to bring him down. How can police just rush into a hotel to carry out search??? I believe d heads were planted then the pple called in d police. Onitsha pple can do anything to bring some1 down expecially when the person in question is a tough nut to crack. I rest my case.

  146. I don't understand the way our justice system works. No investigation carried out, just straight demolition. What if is actually a setup, are there going to be compensation to the man for his damaged properties?.

  148. The fact is remains that the speedy demolition calls for suspicion, but on a second thought, when I talked with a friend in Anambra who stays on the same street, he identified the man as OBILIDIKE AKA NA NI 1 OF UMUCHU, with the name alone and name of town , if u are from Anambra state, you can never engage in dispute with that man, lolz

  150. This could be a set up..trust Naija police swooping into action without proper investigations. What has demolishing the house got to do with finding two human? Why not seal off the hotel and conduct a thorough investigation.
My first assignment in the office of the president will be demolishing Naija police, they all have no 1pence sense.

  159. Nigeria is useless country, how are they sure the man is guilty, dey av not done any investigation and dey av demolished d hotel, they sud reemeber dt hotel is a public place where people come and go

    ReplyDelete
  160. There is no justification for the demolition of a hotel by a State Government because two human heads where found in one of the rooms in the hotel.

The owner of the hotel has been arrested and the matter is still been investigated, no one has been charged to court concerning the matter. Even if the owner of the hotel has been charged to court, what happens to the presumption of innocence guarenteed under our Constitution?

Even if he is found guilty of complicity in the matter, is the demolition of his property the prescribed punishment?

    ReplyDelete
  161. I had expected Gov Obi to seal d hotel first, order a proper investigation, charge d man to court if found guilty, then u can demolish. This seem like a jungle justice. This is a public place for crying out loud. Anything could hv happened. I am not a fan of d man but first thing first. D wife cld be right afterall. This is Naija, some pple can go to any length to bring another fellow down. Peter Obi shld know better. Nobody has told us dat d heads where found in d hotel room or within d hotel premises. Maybe our courts hv just become items of decoration. D case of Aluu4 is a case in hand. Naija shld grow up for once. We hv gone pass dis level. Say NO to JUNGLE JUSTICE! #Steve#

  162. But why will des people be playing like dis with human lives? They coulda planted somthn else like cocaine or watever. Now 2 supposedly innocent souls r lost. Family loved ones r probably still hoping they r alive...smh. Wicked world

  163. point of correction the man is not a yoruba man. Also when things like this happen its the individual and not the tribe...and you cant really say for sure if it happened that way cos the wife might be saying the truth to. Nothing is hidden from God sha o
