Rappers react to Kendrick Lamar calling himself the king of NewYork

In his verse in Big Sean's new single 'Control', Lamar not all dissed fellow rappers like Drake, Wale, J. Cole and A$AP Rocky, he also declared himself the king of New York. Kendrick spits:
I'm in a destruction mode if the gold exists.
I'm important like the pope, I'm a muslim on pork
I'm Makaveli's offspring, I'm the king of New York
King of the Coast, one hand, I juggle them both
The juggernaut's all in your jugular, you take me for jokes
Live in the basement, church pews and funeral faces
Cartier bracelets for my women friends I'm in Vegas
Who the fuck y'all thought it's supposed to be?
If Phil Jackson came back, still no coachin' me
I'm uncoachable, I'm unsociable. Fuck y'all clubs, fuck y'all pictures
Your Instagram can gobble these nuts
See his diss of other rappers and their reaction after the cut...

Kendrick also called out a few rappers...see the verse below..

I heard the barbershops be in great debates all the time
Bout who's the best MC? Kendrick, Jigga and Nas
Eminem, Andre 3000, the rest of y'all
New niggas just new niggas, don't get involved
And I ain't rockin no more designer shit
White T’s and Nike Cortez, this is red Corvettes anonymous
I'm usually homeboys with the same niggas I'm rhymin' wit
But this is hip hop and them niggas should know what time it is
And that goes for Jermaine Cole, Big KRIT, Wale
Pusha T, Meek Millz, A$AP Rocky, Drake
Big Sean, Jay Electron', Tyler, Mac Miller
I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you niggas
Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you niggas
They dont wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you niggas
What is competition? I'm tryna raise the bar high
Who tryna jump and get it? You better off tryna skydive
Lol. How cocky. See the rappers reaction below...

  10. Rap is all about repping yourself, its always been that way, most times it comes off as been too cocky, but territories are marked, for example, T.I-King of the south, Jay Z-King of Brooklyn(New York) so I feel he is just self proclaiming what he is not, that spot is for Jigga and no one else for now!

  26. All these New MCs vs Old MCs debate is getting stale... Love who you love and stay loyal.. i kinda understand what Kendrick Lamar is doing tryna do, kick all these recent old MCs (Lil Wayne, Drake, Kanye, J Cole et all ) outta the way so he can pave way for his own success or maybe he is doing it for genuine reasons tryna take rap back to when rap was all about competition, dizz and great lyrics (Eminem, Nas, Jay Z, Tupac, Biggie). hmmmn... we will never know *sigh*

  27. I really don't see any #dissing in what he said..,I think he's just kinda letting 'em know they have to step up..#rap is kinda dying after #2pac..GOD bless da dead!!..and he even said he love 'em all..it's no diss

  33. I've been holding my bloody nuts over this joint since yesterday when it leaked.
First of all, there aren't real Hip Hop heads on this blog that would understand the import of Kendrick's verse, having said that, dude bodied/murdered Big Sean on his own bloody joint, damn!
Joell Ortiz of Slaughter House released a response earlier today and it was FIRE.
Non of the cats Kendrick called out have replied on records, they just kept saying shit on twitter like groupies.
But I gotta give it to Big Sean,I mean, dude is known to be a bubble gum rapper but he went so hard on the beat.
Then of course,Jay Elect,he just rocked the beat with his poetic flow.
THIS ISN'T ANY OF YOUR WACK NIGERIAN RAPPER(Mode Nine excluded),SO PLS DON'T COMMENT IF YOU DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT REAL HIP HOP,PERIOD!
Finally, its not cocky, its just what Hip Hop needs right now...I mean, the genre is been dominated by mediocres like 2chains,Trinidad James,Rick Ross and even lil' Wayne who used to be so ill but went too commercial.
Dr.Dre would be so glad he signed Kendrick Lamar!

    1. Ur head dey there. Until now I doubted my familiarity of hip hop cos I never had a rick Ross song on my phone, not to mention 2chainz and co., and it kinda intrigues me how they are applauded by d same music society dat witnessed two decades ago. And yes I listen to more of modenine than lil Wayne. Do drake actually "rap"? Urgh. I used to believe in jese jagz, bt MI fucked him so bad. I hope to see d enactment of more Kendricks.

Kendrick is cool buh seriously he ain't dat dope....he stuffs alotta useless words into a line and his delivery is what bails him out. He's label is actually giving him all the hype....don't forget Dre is involved LOL! He should focus on droppin' a multi-platinum album rather than calling names for attention. And just for the record KENDRICK won't last an hour on a typical street rap battle in the Bronx! Dude used a pre-written script that didn't last upto 24 bars in B.E.T's backroom freestyle, when an ordinary producer like Swizz Beats killed it for close to 42 bars....Same Kendrick chocked on Funk Master Flex's freestyle interview, Pusha T kept going like he was cursed for the course, even murdered his own boss Kanye on the same interview......Kendrick is just noise, trust me...download his song and listen you'll attest to this! King of New York indeed....LOL! - IdiokAboy

  67. as far as i am concerned, mr Kemndrick lamar is just one thing to me...a new nig*****a. i have never been really impressed with his verses and this one is just well...there! check out the names of the cats he has called out(apart from pusha T ) those cats are just really new nig**az that are in the verge of lanme!(some credit to rozzay tho)..period! He has not mentioned any heavy weight out there so i see no challenge. f**ck it..i'll put my money on cassidy any day any time any where to body-bag Kendrick. he is not as good as papoose, he does not have that sick lazy flow as fabolous(listen to the funeral fab album)...i mean if he wants to call out names..he should call out cats like jada kiss, or the whole lox fam, he shuld call out cassidy, he should call out ol' G 50 cent(which i think deserves a lot more credit and respect for his achievment in rap and as an acute bizness man), he should call out joe budden, he should even call out fab ..hell.... i'll put money on rah digga to body bag the dude plus a whole lotta other mic feinds..and he will see fire works....infact i will lut it out there that our very own mode 9 would go toe - to- toe with Mr Kendrick when it comes to verses and metaphors. the dude should just take a back seat and not try to seek attention. am a real hip hop head and only listen to the likes of eric sermon, jay Z , BIG, rakim , Naz ,lox, slaughter house 50 cents & other cats from that golden era. kendrick is just a new nigga just like the peeps he called out period!. he's not one of dre's greatest finds!.

  72. Q tip summed it up perfectly. Hip Hop used to be about battling and bars> Kendrick Lamar isn't dissing anyone, he's just taking things back to their origins.

It's nice to see someone who appears to be less concerned about having the popular names on his track in order to sell more records, and more concerned with bringing back that element of healthy sparring to move the craft forward.
