Pastor Bans Hair Weaves in His Church

The senior pastor at Resurrecting Faith Church in Waco, Texas has advised his female congregation not to wear weaves to church. 39 year old Pastor A.J. Aamir said he grew wary of looking out over his congregation and seeing a sea of hair weaves. Pastor Aamir feels women wearing weaves presents a false image of themselves and are associated with women who have low self-esteem.
“Our black women are getting weaves trying to be something and someone they are not. Be real with yourself is all I’m saying,” Pastor A.J. Aamir told AmericaPreachers.com.
He said he “highly disapproves” of women wearing weave in his church, where the average age of the congregation is 22. Meaning most female members wear weaves.
“Long hair don’t care. What kind of mess is that? I don’t want my members so focused on what’s on their heads and not in their heads. I lead a church where our members are struggling financially. I mean really struggling. “Yet, a 26-year-old mother in my church has a $300 weave on her head. No. I will not be quiet about this.”
But why is a pastor concerning himself with a woman's hair? I thought it was more about what's in your heart and soul and not what's on your head? Anyway, I'm sure he’ll change his mind when tithes and offering decreases. Then he will be yelling 'All weaves aboard' Lol. #kidding. Your thoughts?

We are holistic Being(physical, spiritual, social, mental and psychological) so, let's not throw others away and focus only on spiritual even when we know that we aren't spiritual. D pastor made lots of point. Daalu. DMAN

    4. I agree with u zainab on Linda's reply being stupid. There is a video on YouTube of a Benin woman who said when she went to heaven she got taken to hell and there where loads of women in hell because of dressing and wearing weaves . Weaves are from the head of a dragon apparently also the woman asked Jesus the exact question Linda asked about heart

    9. The man is trying to make sense, but he is diluting it. The truth of d matter is that Jesus said hair weavons belongs to the dragon n shld not be worn by believers. So saying its Expensive is a silly reason.....tell them d truth. Women, Jesus hates weavons n let's obey what d Master demands. God bless u.

    2. I'm quite shocked at Linda's response to this topic.
You really think its all about tithes?
The pastor made a truck load of sense, isn't it appalling that a struggling young lady who's suppposed to be concerned with uplifting her finances is spending most of that same finance on hair?
Its a different case if she's financially stable but in the case where she isn't?I think its just plain stupid.
Linda's take on this is not such a bright one.

U must be a dumb ass fellow for saying that, the pastor is right cos in 1peter3:3-4 the scripture states categoricallay that women's beauty shouldn't be only abt their hair, and their dresses but they should put more intrest abt inward beauty of the hrt, adorning themselves with ornaments of a meek and quiet spirit which is of a gr8 price b4 God, and dats exactly d point the pastor was tryna make, and u sit back behind ur computer or handset to type in rubbish in d name of commenting on linda's blog! 11. He particularly said he has a poor congregation and he wont watch them live a lifestyle that is ruining their lives.

Same applies to most girls in Lagos and Nigeria. Most sleep with men to get Brazilian, Peruvian and the rest.

Our girls need to emulate their wise mothers instead of this fake role models(musicians, actresses and the likes) they follow. Another major issue to tackle is the way young women dress in the name of Fashion. Do they genuinely think that Jesus would be happy if he saw some of their outfits. Its amazing how a woman closes the bathroom when showering to hide her private place but then dresses up exposing the same things. I just dont get it.

And talking about churches in Nigeria forcing rules on their members, you can't imagine how many hypocrites are being prepared for hell! Talk about mind control. Move close to some of them and you will be shocked at the level of ignorance when it comes to the Word. Following that Pastor's argument, why should a church be building a very big and beautiful church when some members cannot afford good meals, education, etc? Let us think. Very soon, the pastor will tell them when to visit their parents!

  59. The man didn't say wearing weaves is a sin. And this isn't about tithe. He just thinks that a struggling woman should not spend as much as $300 on weaves...he feels what is in d head matter more than what is on it.

  64. Extreme rubbish!!!! Some sense in his reasoning, though. However, it borders on pursuing a specious argument to say that because of an isolated case of irrational application of scarce resources by a member of his church, then ban should be declared on the use of weaves by women. Rubbish!
Women were created beautiful and for beauty. Indeed women are the most beautiful of God's creation.
Their beauty borders on the heavenly and has divine purpose in it: it is the fount of all attraction, sensuality, sexuality, fertility, creativity, all inspiration and all human motivation.
Women's beauty is the bringer and sustainer of colour in the world of men and spirits.
Beauty is femininity. Femininity is beauty!!
Maybe you don't know this: that spirits spy at the beauty of women with the greatest admiration, but resignation, regretting they weren't created men! *READ THE GREAT BOOK OF ENOCH*
THUS A WOMAN HAS A GOD-GIVEN DUTY TO LOOK BEAUTIFUL; TO DO ALL IN HER POWER TO GROOM HER BEAUTY FOR HER SELF-SATISFACTION, FOR HER MAN AND FOR THE WORLD.
THE WOMAN HAS A DUTY TO USE ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING GOOD, INCLUDING JEWELRY, GOOD MAKE-UP, GOOD FEEDING, GOOD COMFORT, GOOD CLOTHES AND ACESSORIES, GOOD CREAMS, AND THE CROWNING OF ALL, GOOD HAIR-DO AND HAIR ENHANCEMENT LIKE WEAVES AND BRAIDES, ETC, TO PROJECT AND ACCENTUATE HER BEAUTY!!!!

  69. It is unfortunate that Linda's comment is at best daft. She could have assumed an even-steven position on the matter. In general, blacks in America are poor and the context of the message shows the church is a poor one or has poor members. The single most important cause of poverty in blacks in single parenthood, mainly mother-child families because the males are mostly incarcerated. The pastor makes a cogent point because $300 no value adding weaves will crowd out the income of families particularly in the face of other ecompeting family needs and limited resources. Weaves don't add value to people. -OOA Mpls, MN

  70. I understand what the pastor is talking about. True salvation is only gotten when we purge ourselves of the all vanity of this world. A woman doesn't need a weave to be beautiful. Putting on a long weave tells the pastor the women lust to be like the white women who grow long hair naturally. Hence his statement, "I don't want members so focused on what's on their heads than what's in their heads!". Indirectly, he's saving a soul.
I guess he didn't go into pastoring for the money like most Nigerian churches.
Salvation is not for the great many in the congregation, it's for the few who understand.

  74. Madam FDK no one is attacking weave wearers o, Abel calm down jor. The pastor simply said he has a problem with his members who r living up to the jones, their finances r bad, yet they av $300 dollar weaves on. Misplaced priorities. So carry go with ur medically induced weave.

I wish people will quit thinking everything is about money only. A pastor wu can't look out for is flock is flawed. But as usual, his words av been misconstrued by people wu think with their ass n not brain!

  75. Most of the people in his church has been wearing weave almost their entire life and he wants them to stop?! They'll rather change their church than stop wearing weaves. Besides its not is business if they're spending their little money on weaves. What he could have done is teach them about money...organise a seminar on being financially stable and spending on things that really matters.

The Pastor made a lot of sense, and there's wisdom to what he said, even here people do anything to buy these weaves, smart phones, jewelries etc, to be seen as the happening girl or to appear physically attractive, but empty and dirty inside and unhealthy, his decision has nothing to do with tithes and offering and please all you making mockery and passing judgement on him be careful for every idle word uttered irrationally will be judged. 93. the pastor is not against it. he just expressed his opinion. why would someone who barely has food to eat buy and wear a weave of $300? doesn't make sense to me. you think its about tithe and offerings, its not. your pastor is not only your spiritual leader, he is also a counselor and should tell you the truth no matter what. if those ladies start wearing their natural hair, they would realize how much the are able to save and how well they will be living. $300 is much more than some peoples salary you know. why live an extravagant live while in poverty? who are you trying to please? lets tell ourselves the truth.

A girl with no source of income and from humble background rocking a 200k weave..if only they give more care and attention to their natural hairs...they won't need to wear weave. I know that if I'm male I won't be dating any girl with smelly weave on.

  99. Lol! Some pple like Linda can't see themselves without weave in this world. Well it shod come as an advice to a law. I agree with him on the epidermis eating us up as ladies. I don't need to emphasis on how our girls do all sorts just to buy hair. Really sad!!

  100. Numb skulls. READ AND THINK. Its not illegal yet. Did anybody see the part were he says "members of his church are struggling, really struggling. Yet a 26 yr old mother has a $300 weave on her head" and cant feed her baby. Does this not scream of common sense?

  103. Its ignorant to say bcos people have weaves of 300 dey shouldn't bring it to church, so wen dey have watches of $1000 nd gold chains of $2000 would u suggest dey dnt wear dem and clothes too... Basically what am tryn to say is u cnt band wat people r wearing cos u feel its to expensive u have to preach to dem that IF dey cnt afford it dey should let it go... Cos its not just hair that people buy even men buy crazily expensive fngs like fones too, so why is he picking on hair, wat about cars u definately cnt tell dem not to wear cloths, watches use expensive fones or cars... There's just no point

  108. Linda Linda! You can spin a story sha! All the Pastor said was that he discourages women from wearing weaves - and he makes a pertinent argument. Why should you wear a weave of 300$$ if you are struggling financially? 300$$ can buy 3-4 text books for a college student (for that 22 year old female college congregant).
Second, if the weave a woman wears is supposed to be the mark of "the caliber" of woman she is, then she has some thinking to do!
He never said anything about weave being a determinant of the quality of your heart and soul.
And yes! a Pastor's duty goes beyond the spiritual life of his/her congregants, he ought to see their practical human needs and speak on them! My two cents

    ReplyDelete
  109. Weaves are not natural...the constant gluing and sewing causes baldness/ traction alopeacia. I challenge any weave wearer to take it off and let's see your hair in its full glory. Most of them take care of the fake hair and destroy their own heads. Each to their own who bloody cares.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Anon August 27, 2013 at 1:42 AM using extensions with alopecia will worsen the situation. If you said you wore wigs to cover the hair loss, yes. Extensions exert more pressure on your hair follicles and won't help to treat hair loss.
