Embattled lawmaker Chidi Lloyd remanded in police custody

When you look at him now, limping and being assisted to walk, you feel sorry for him but then you remember the video and how he battered a colleague with a mace. The majority leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly was in a high court yesterday, facing charges of conspiracy, willful damage, and attempted murder, but his arraignment was stalled because the Attorney General of the state wants to take over the case.

Chidi Lloyd will remain in police custody until August 6, 2013.

Its obvious that they just want to humilate Mr Lloyd. and kill his political career for supporting Amaechi, thatz why they kip prostponing his trail. Provocation is not a crime in any law court.     Chris Lloyd did wrong, but I dislike when stories are written without painting the complete picture. What started this fracas was 5 politicians...5 politicans with touts who over threw 27 politicians to stage an orchestrated mathematically impossible impeachment to gain power as the police stood by and watched.

    When we ignore the 5 + their touts, we damage democracy. No blog (at least any that I have read) have done justice in pressing for the reason why 5 politicians felt they could reverse maths in their favor.

    As for Chris Lloyd...here's hoping you exercise more restraint. You embarrassed yourself, your party and our nation....the world is watching us.

    We should all count our teeth with our tongue. The Attorney-General wants to take over the case, of course he has the power to do so under Section 211 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). He also has the power to discontinue the case and the court can not question him. The Governor appoints the Attorney-General who is also the Commissioner for Justice and we all know that he who pays the piper dictates the tune. We know whose camp Hon. Lloyd belongs to. Let's watch as events unfold.

    i feel sad people are addressing this issue this way.. did chidi lloyd go to his house to smatch his head?? wat if they overpowered chidis camp, wld the law av taken any cause?? how abt the guys dat took up d act of treason ,watz being done about dem?? some northern governors came to ph and were harrased at the airport and their drivers head broken, who is taking up the fight for the driver?? its just an unfair country and i feel sad wen people's reasoning is just one sided..

    A lot of Nigerians seem to ignore the fact that democracy in this country was greatly threatened by 5 men in the House of Assembly and Chidi did not stand for it but took action .. He went about it the wrong way but he was taking a stand against something. What those men who were acting on the instructions of GEJ did was immature and corrupt and everyone is overlooking this and is more focused on the superficial which is what Chidi Lloyd did. This is just one way GEJ and his wife are taking down their non supporters.
