Dear men, beat your woman in Lagos and go to jail

There's a new Domestic Violence Law in Lagos State, and it states that if you beat your wife, you will go to Jail. It is now an offense for any man to hit his wife.

According to the deputy governor of Lagos State, Hon Joke Orelope-Adefulire, the Domestic Violence Law is made not only to protect women who are most times the target of violence in the home but also to safeguard the interest of men, children, servants, maids and everyone who may be a victim of domestic violence.

In case of man/woman abuse issues, it does not matter whether there's a valid contracted marriage between the victim and the perpetrator of the act as long as they are living together in a home setting. Continue...

Here's what happens when there's a case of domestic violence.
1. Remove the abuser from the home pending when the abuse is corrected
2. Or remove the complainant from the residence and put in a protective home
3. Provision of financial assistance by the state via the Office of the Public Defender/Legal Aid Council to victims of abuse who maybe financially unable to seek redress in court.
4. The court can issue warrant of arrest and remand order

Say NO to physical assault of any kind. No one has the right to put their hands on another individual

  15. I think this is very good. The amount of women who have died at the hand of their husband knows no bounds. Some wife beaters go on to molest their daughters and unfortunately get away with it. I do hope women won't take advantage of this and start disrespecting their husbands. Can't wait to see how this Law pans out

Domestic violence is a serious issues. Now what they need to do is go on national television and warned the masses and educate the women. Tell them what is now at stack when they hit their wives. It is no longer she is my wife what is your business.

    ReplyDelete
  82. This is a welcome development, it will take some time to be effective, but hopefully it will.Waiting for a law that allows women to lay claims on half their husbands property in divorce matters, not that I advocate divorce, but I think it will curb the extent to which naija men cheat and flaunt it in their spouse's face.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Ok,so what about the law for wicked women who kill their step children and maltreat their house maids? Just asking

    ReplyDelete
  84. Fantastic! Well done deputy governor. Now all the wife bitters, go and acquire a new koboko to flog ur wives.... Onofia!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Its about damn time... Men need to realise tht just cause u paid a woman's bride price dont mean she's ur property and can be treated anyhow. Brideprice is just a tradition. No money can buy the worth of a woman.. Dont get it twisted! Same goes for abuse of housemaids by both men(sexually defiling her body) and women(slap, flog, abusive words, setting on fire etc). The nonsense has got to stop! Hopefully the law is enforced and applies to even the rich who use money to buy their way out of everything and the morally corrupt at the top twist and bend the law just for a fatter bank account and pocket.

  99. Lagos is gradually drifting into a western style authority from the original biblical and african traditions. So this means that if i beat my wife, i go to jail, very soon it will be if i beat my child i got to jail also, Now, how will i come out of jail and forgive my wife? or who will be sleeping with my wife while in jail? It is not advisable to hit a woman but this law is anti-peace and its very very satanic. Divorce, adultery and fornication is becoming the order of the day in Lagos!

  147. The globalists have found an opening for their end-game of the destruction of the family. First, they mandate the promotion of divorcees and feminists to positions of authority in society, next comes these obnoxious laws that can be used to bankrupt heads of families(men) and take their children as wards of state, sending the men to slave labor camps(prison). We all know how a woman can be erratic at least once a month, how she can dig dirt out of the past to use in blackmailing the man, especially if she is the gold-digger type. How will discipline be maintained in the home if you take away a man's authority and give it to feminist and divorcee judges? Nigeria has opened the gate to satan and homosexual marriage will be the end-game.

  162. This is a step in the right direction, however it's not just about passing laws but making sure that it's enforced & most importantly makingsure tthat it is NOT abused!

Nigeria already has a bunch of laws that were passed & yet they're abused by the same group of people that passed them..

Protect the woman from hit as well protect the man from premature death...lots of Nigerian Women are terrible..as in Terrible..this serves Wife beaters well honestly but as well a family service linked with the Police should be set up to check cases of a very terrible and possessed wife whose mission is just to destroy that mans home, the only food for this specie of women is just unrest in the house 247 and the more the heat the excited the spirit in them gets..these type of women usually have no morals or behavior and trust me they sure exist..i live with one...
