5 NANS members die in fatal auto crash on their way to UNIUYO

The Senate President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Donald Onukaogu and four other students were killed in a tragic auto accident along the Umuahia - Ikot Ekpene federal road on their way to the University of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State to intervene in the crisis that rocked the school yesterday. The bus they were traveling in collided with a trailer which was said to have lost control.

Donald was a student of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri. May their souls rest in peace. Amen.

  19. You guys are Heros, RIP. But come to think of it, why going to UYO through Umuahia, because there are no good roads In Abia State. Major road that connects to UYO is through Aba. When was the last time any motorists use this road and Other major roads that connect Abia to other States. God have mercy!!!Nigeria keep losing good people due to bad roads and preventable accidents because our leaders does not care.

  70. This is whay happens when a simple situation cannot be managed. if only the VC has met with the students or leaders of the group to pacify them or something. At least say a few good words or promises while the tension goes down, but no she decided to do it the cowardly way. Now lives are lost, properties destroyed and students are at home. This is really sad. i blame the students also, because you can never be greater than the institution, the students will be made to pay for everything destroyed and much more.Government fix the roads, get ur priorities right also. Lord save our country.

  71. Dis is nt good at all...pls youth its time to go hand over your life to GOD...read psalm 91 verse 2....

  72. I almost lost my life on this same road, Ikot ekpene Umuahia road that links up Akwa Ibom with Abia state if not for the grace of God. Thank God I would have also been in the news like this. Oh God you are so merciful! my driver lost steering but I don't know how God made him get back on track!

Government should dualize the ikot ekpene umuahia road to avoid more casualties.

  73. I hope Comfort Ekpo is happy. See what she has unleashed. We say sorry to the families of the bereaved and that is where it ends. They go and gnash their teeth in sorrow. You are in a place of authority does not mean you have to be autocratic. You dont have a listening ear. That is not management. Unilag, which is in a commercial centre and very cosmopolitan too takes N30 to the gate. An Intrduction of this transport fare and a gradual increase of it would not have killed her.Posterity will never forgive her for this. I hope the University has backup for all its records. If not, she has made forgery of records and certificates very lucrative. Being a Professor should not automatically make you a VC, your managerial prowess should be tested as well. I hope she is happy.

  74. This death is one too many for Nigerian youths, not meaning to sound harsh but the drivers of these SUG buses they use, are most often reckless n drive on neck-breaking speed. Went to FUTO, so am sure of what am saying ,plus d poor rep dis SUG/NANS pple give students and fund embezzlement. May God comfort their families,Amen
