Okiki in the company of her parents and the Coordinator GIPLC, Mr Nuhu Kwajafa, left Nigeria for London enroute the United States of America on the 27th of April 2013. The journey had to be broken with a brief stopover in London since the doctors were not so sure if long stretch of flying from Nigeria to America will not affect the poor child adversely. They finally left for the Johns Hopkins Medical International on the 4th of May 2013. On arrival they were welcomed by the world renowned paediatrician Dr Ben Carson (and his team of doctors), whose blessed hands has done wonders and whom God will also use to work in restoring Okiki back to normal.Right now a series of test and examinations are being carried on Okiki in preparatory of the epoch making procedure.
It is worthy of note that Okiki Olawuyi's surgery will be Dr Ben Carson's last major procedure
before retirement. It is also on record that Okiki's surgery ranks amongst the 9th most expensive medical procedure in the world (source https://payerfusion.com/ceos-b
We thank Nigerians and indeed all who have made this possible. Indeed there is hope still for our great nation and humanity.

ReplyDeleteThe NGO don de decieve ppl de hammer from donations.
ReplyDelete@Anya Ikenga All you can think about after seeing evidence of the great work of this NGO is that they're deceiving people just to 'hammer'?people like you are what we DON'T need in the world. You're never satisfied and can't even appreciate an obvious effort. If you don't want to give, please don't but you have NO RIGHT to discourage others from doing so.I won't let you Run Nuhu's efforts like that, sorry soul! VOLTRON.
DeleteIndeed okiki z a blessd child. May d operatn b successful IJN.
ReplyDeleteThis will surely be an art of God! I pray God will be glorified in the life of Okiki, perhaps he will take over from Ben Carson. Albright Benson

ReplyDeleteMay God see Dr.Ben Carson through the day he performs on Okiki, may His healing hands be upon her.God bless every one that donated.
ReplyDeleteNot to put a hole in the bubble but is this expenditure really necessary??? For 1 child????
ReplyDeleteEvery day several children in Nigeria die from malaria and its complications. Several women die from pregnancy related complications and during the puperium. We record huge numbers in the number of deaths as a result of DM,HTN complications etc. I don't want to throw a spanner in the works. I wish Okiki well. I just think that this is a TOTAL WASTE of money and unnecessary propaganda.
And for the record, I am a practicing doctor.
For real? Ǎ̜̣̍ practising doctor? And yu wrote all dat? Isn't one life worth billions of dollars? Hw can yu evn think like dat? So deyy shldav allowed the little baby to die bcos yu think its ǎ̜̣̍ waste of money? Yu'r sooo shallow minded... God save ur patients. Evry life Ȋ̝̊̅§ important!
DeleteMy Dear what do U Mean?Dis donation was raised via NGo specificaly 4 dis child. So u cn form ur own NGO & raise for oda pple, dats if u won't divert d money raised for ur persnal ambitions. By d way dis surgery is d 9th most expensive surgery in the world. I think u shld direct dat questn to d Nigerian govt & nt to dis NGO. By d way u aren't the only doctor in the world,I'm also a doctor.A help is a help, guess if it wz ur Child in dis situation u wld hv appreciated it beta
DeleteAnd for the record,it is sad u r a practicing doctor.Very very sad.Even if u were not taught in med school as a seemingly sane being don't u have human empathy? Its cos of u the world is nasty!Bringing up issues like this under the wrong forum to the wrong people.Better change your perception and give back to society the best way u can and leave the rest to God instead of being bitter and full of pessimism then u wouldn't see it as propaganda
DeleteU're just a pure SADIst.
DeleteI think your medical license should be withdrawn with immediate effect. I would try to imagine you wouldn't say that if it were your own child in the situation, I'm so sure you won't mind all the sympathy in the world just to make him/her better. You ought to be ashamed of yourself for being so heartless, shame on you saddist!I bet people die on you because you choose who to treat.mscheeeeew!!! VOLTRON
DeleteMay God see her through and bless all who made dis a possible.Amen.
ReplyDeleteBen carson is a paediatric neurosurgeon
ReplyDelete@ Anonymous 11.58 who is a doctor, we all know loads of children are dying everyday, but you can also agree with me that the WHO, UNICEF, UNESCO, WORLD BANK, BILL GATES FOUNDATION, just to name a few, are all directing funds for the the course of eradicating malaria, or reducing deaths caused by malaria, reducing mother/child or infant mortality. The world at large is fighting tooth & nail to eradicate these deaths, It is only therefore appropriate and human not to allow one more die. If the money can be raised to save her, then why do u consider it a waste? the problem in Nigeria is not insufficient funds for complete eradication of malaria and other diseases, we should ask our Ogas @ the top the where abouts of the money.. And yes, I'm a Medical personnel like u too, and ve a masters degree in Public health from a Uk University, so i ve my facts and figures, evident based. '
ReplyDeleteDear practicing doctor, if it were your OWN child, you won't be yarning the same dust you're yarning now. Even saving one child's life is important and FYI this surgery currently cannot be performed in any nigerian hospital. Do your research! So y dont u finish medical school and go become a brain surgeon in Nigeria ? Peace xx
ReplyDeleteA fellow practicing doctor
Dr Anonymous 11.58pm, TOTAL WASTE?? Please read your comments again. I don't believe you! Do you have children? Sure you have seen children lost their lives but they are "other" people's children so you can't be bothered. May I never experience such a heartless doctor in any of my visits to hospitals in Nigeria. What other options do you give Okiki's parents? Throw the child away? Or what advice would you give the NGO? Ignore that child and let her die? Or live with all the complications that come with her malformation which is no fault of hers. Doctors like you give wrong/ delayed diagnosis because other people are dying everyday so what's the big deal with your patients illnesses...I have lost a child before because of doctors like you, shame on you. That part of your heart that feels empathy and compassion is dead. Ask God to revive it.
ReplyDeleteWishing Okiki's parents the very best in this trying times. I pray they overcome.
May miracle be done on Okiki. Btw Ben Carson is a pediatric neurosurgeon, so, Linda is still correct.
ReplyDeleteBen Carson, a really gifted fellow
ReplyDeleteGod is faithful thats all i can say
Dr Carson is a pediatric neurosurgeon.
ReplyDelete@practicing doctor, Do you have children? If you do then you would not be thinking like this.37million is not too big to save one life. Yes thousands of children die from malaria etc, but if he was your child you will do anything to save him!!!
ReplyDeleteUhmm,l can imagine wat the parents are going through,ve been there before.l wish them God's strength to pull this through and dt little princess wil live a normal life till she goes meet her maker at a ripe old age.
ReplyDeleteGod bless that organist ion IJN.
Dr Ben Carson has always been my model....I pray that the Good Lord will grant Him and His team a successful surgery. May the Blessings of God go with you Okiki Love....You are a Child of great bright future.
ReplyDeleteYes ooo, more luv n hospitality all along,1 luv man
ReplyDeleteMay God grant complete healing to her...My kisses to Ben Carson......heeeeehaaaa
ReplyDeleteI read dr ben carson book wen I waz in secondary skul n d book taught me a lot of tins in life+plus d bby is well wiv u in jesus name amen
ReplyDeletewishing little Okiki a successful procedure. God will surely use the gifted hands of Dr.Ben Carson to wok wonders and the little one will live normally.
ReplyDelete@Anon11:58pm practicing doctor, i can't believe you actually typed what you typed. so #37mil to save a life is a waste? you are mean and wicked.
God protect d baby wit LLNP.
ReplyDeleteMay God make the surgery a success in Jesus name. Little Okiki, the lord will surely do it for you.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous@11:58 PM. You might be a practicing doctor but you sure are a heartless one!!! NO EXPENSE is too much to save one life! Because one life can NEVER be quantified in monetary terms!!! If it was your child nko Mr Doctor? Would you say na leave her alone to die, there are other children around dying from Malaria? "a TOTAL WASTE of money and unnecessary propaganda", SERIOUSLY??? Jeez, this has left me fuming... with doctors like this who obviously don't care about the sanctity of one life; our healthcare system is in trouble! Isn't that what you are meant to do? Save one life at a time? Is it possible to save them all at once??? Please do us a BIG favour and post your name "Doctor' so we know never to consult you... instead of posting as anonymous you unfeeling bastard and spineless coward! And for the record, I have never abused anyone on this blog before but i will make an exception in this case, soooooo pissed!!!
ReplyDeleteMr Practicising Doctor (Anonymous May 9, 2013 at 11:58 PM)...keep practising ur archaic ways and don't go and learn how to become a "GREAT DOCTOR" Like Ben Carson...keep looking for ways to "manage" money. No one needs ur opinion whether the Money is a waste or not...are u a "TAX-Collector"? Please go and advise your Nigerian Government to have better Health-Care System. Maybe u'll appreciate how much is spent in saving ONE Life. Enemy of Progress like you> Please save a life TODAY. I wish u knew the value of Human Life.
ReplyDeleteRebel Leader
And to the doctor who thinks N37m is a 'total waste' to spend on a child, I bet if the baby was yours N37m would not even be enough... smh
ReplyDeleteGod shall work through the hand of Dr. Ben Carson and the rest shall be well.
ReplyDeleteMay the Good LORD in His infinite mercies grant the team success in the surgery. Amen. I know there is nothing too hard for Him.
ReplyDeleteAm overwhelmed with nostalgia! Ben Carson book: gifted hands was what made me to be a doctor today, he is my role model in the medical proffession as a black.
ReplyDeleteMay God use his gifted hands once again to give this child a chance to normal life amen.
Baby Okiki and the parents will come back with testimony. The Omniscience, The Omnipotent and The Omnipresent God will surely do it for you, IJN, Amen.
ReplyDeleteGod is awesome, who best to do it than his chosen one with the gifted hands Dr.Ben Carson. Thank you LORD. You have received your healing blessed baby Okiki. LORD do what only YOU knows how to do best, AMEN.
ReplyDeleteThank you Jesus for putting her in a gifted hands! Please Lord perfect her healing and grant Okiki life, bless all who made it possible. IJN. Amen
ReplyDeleteNuhu mehn, this warms the heart... God bless!
