Why not renovate the one presently been used and need thorough turn around.......and provide with equipment in laboratories, books in the library etc.

To build is one thing to maintain and sustain is another point to look at before embarking on this interesting and very commendable project.

  106. NO be building the school be the wahala, any all fool with money to spend can do it. This is where the problem lies:

    1. Where is the administration come from? Will there be salaries, pension and other benefits? What are the qualifications and who is the overseeing body?

    2. To build and not maintain? You better not build at all!

    3. Some of the students can afford to pay school fees but what about the ones that can? Will your school offer academic scholarships for those ones?

Have you thought this out through and through or you just dey break grown for building, slap up four side, roof, windows and doors?

YEAH okay! Make we see wetin go happen.

    ReplyDelete
  116. Interesting... Well Done to Davido though :) (Y)

We kind of agree with those people saying that it seems he has little value for education since he dropped out. Yes some of the world's richest people are dropouts, but Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates are dropouts from HARVARD University. They dropped out due to choice not inadequate funds, therefore if they decided to build a school today, people would people would still question them, as they too did not have value for tertiary education. Therefore it should not come as a surprise that Davido's intention is questionable.

The so called "Naija mentality" that lack of tertiary education is a limitation is rightly so. Tertiary education is the only way we can compete on an international level.

He should take in the advice on improving existing schools or expanding them, rather than building from scratch.

If he really has to build he can start with housing for rural communities, clean water and usable roads.

S.N This is a highly myopic statement, rather snobbish, totally disagree:

"That's the difference between we rich kids and our poor counterparts. We think about education while they think about opening clubs."

    ReplyDelete
  117. School for sagging ur shorts, piercing ur ears and making tattoos. Very thoughtful davido but u're not emulatable enof to erect a sch, u should try a club or a bar

  130. Good move, Davido! I hope that someone else can take on the repairing the ones that are in shambles. Someone else can take on upgrading the hospitals and healthcare.

It is bittersweet to see someone so young making a big move like that, when so many who are older and have the means have not looked to do anything to improve the state of the country. "A child shall lead the way"

  137. He needs to get his skinny behind back in school and complete his education!

    ReplyDelete
  138. Why is it permissible for just anyone to start a school in Nigeria... This is so stupid! The boy barely has an education, so what qualifications does he have to start such venture? This is the problem, when quantity is chosen over quality and education becomes a business anyone with the needed capital can venture into. Where are the standards tho?

    ReplyDelete
  139. Nice. Building doth not make a school. Train some teachers and send them to your schools. Make the schools open to only the poor. Now we talking. Nice first step though

  147. like seriosly, why are you all commending him, like he just announced free education or is he building school for the blind and handicapd, Lets be sure of what his motives behind the building of the schools are first before we start making noise and clapping for him because if its anoda bizness venture for him,it doesnt make sense praising him.

  149. I don't know about Nigeria but in Cameroon there are lots of schools that need REAL teaching from REAL teachers. I don't think nigeria lacks schools; but if he build some more, let him provide the REAL teachers and pay their salaries.
