Papa Achebe, Rest In Peace.
ReplyDeleteRest in Peace Sir Achebe.
DeleteEhen Linda you haven't said anything about the story concerning Rev Chris Kpakpovwe of Our Daily Manna impregnating his Secretary. I heard it's a lie and that the lady Flora is his wife of 13years. Infact her name is Flora Ejiro Kpakpovwe.
Plz don't be like CNN that'll show U d slum in Lagos but refuse to come back and c the change Fashola has brought. Learn from Al Jazeera.

DeleteI've been speechless and moist-eyed ever since I heard this news. Nigeria has lost a great icon and an irreplaceable literary giant. In a country where few good books are in existence,I mourn not just your loss but our fate.
DeleteYou will be sorely missed Sir,I never met you but your works impacted me even much more than some people I have met one on one.
Will be whipping out Things Fall Apart 2 read one more time and 2 convince myself that though you are dead, your works live on,and that is what counts the most, the fact that the winds will not be able to wipe out the footprints you left in the sands of time.

ReplyDeleteRIP Chinua Achebe u were a blessing to ur generation. But you have a lot to settle with Awolowo when u get to heaven on the purported role you claimed he played in the Nigeria civil war of 1973 in ur book "there was a country". There is no doubt that the book is so tribalistic in both content, nature and character..You, Ojukwu, Awolowo & other veterans of d civil war have a lot scores to settle in ur eternal country
ReplyDeleteHe fought so hard to eliminate ethnic politics in Nigeria, don't accuse him because he is no more. Read the book again.
DeleteIs this all you can come up with? Shame on you, son of the promoters of tribalism, nepotism and war crime in Nigeria. Please don't spoil this thread with your hate-infested Yoruba mind. This thread is for civilised people.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous @12:16 thanks for calling my attention to the date of the civil war.. It was mistake the war was actually between 1969 and 1970.. As per Awo's part.... I've read the book thoroughly, no doubt about the finger pointed at Awolowo... I've as well read several critics of the book in d course of my studies.. Maybe u only read the book without giving a logical and critical interpretations. But practically an igbo man myt not digest the book the way we Yoruba myt. NB: am not attacking the great Prof and am not being tribalistic........ ¤Prof. Achebe has written his name in gold on the rock of history for the generation yet unborn to learn. GN Prof.
