Amazing 3D images of babies in the womb thanks to new software

Thanks to a new software developed recently in Monaco, parents can now see hi-tech photos of their unborn babies. The software creates the images by adding colour, skin texture, lighting and shadows to normal ultrasound scans...and it also helps doctors detect problems earlier. The photo above right in black and white is the old style ultrasound scan. I like this new one. Long live technology!

    2. Are you just plain stupid or simply retarded? Eh? Even with the old skool ultrasound, Doctors still detect the sex of a baby with a high percentage of accuracy. So knowing the sex of a baby with this should be a walk in the park for them.

    3. You are an ode. They can actually tell the sexes

    11. What makes you think they can't tell if the baby is male or female? Ultrasound scan alone reveals that. Learn to do a little research before you comment and besides, this is supposed to show you what the baby looks like with the added advantage of discovering any problems early enough.

      Delete
    12. Are you a learner? Ultrasound shows you the sex of your baby biko.

    13. Yes u can knw d sex if u want to and dts one of d reasons u do a scan,2 determine d sex

      Delete
    14. Even with the old method, you could tell the sex from 20 weeks. What are you on about?

    15. Who's says....... I knew I was gonna give birth 2a baby boy while I was 8weeks!! Same goes for ma baby girl! Far back as yr 2000

    20. It doesn't matter if the baby is a male or female as long as it is healthy...I did scan times without numbers when I was pregnant and d results kept saying its a girl and I eventually gave birth to a boy...how about that

  16. One its not a new software...3D sonograms have been around since 1987; discovered by Olaf con Ramm and Stephen Smith at Duke University. Dr. Bernard Benoit have been pushing the development of these 3D's since mid-90's. By 2006 several doctors worldwide started adapting to the 3D for ultrasounds and in recent years its now being available to the masses of people and insurance companies willing to pay. Also out of pocket expense is not as expensive as it was 10 years plus ago.

What is really new is the packing and the reporting of the scans. In all honestly its good to report on this...however as a country I hope one day this and many other treatments are afforded the masses and for health insurance and proper healthcare to all...

  57. This technology has been there a long time even in Nigeria. I did one for my first baby and he is 5 now. I did a 4d scan for my 2nd baby with sound and all that and it was not too expensive. I did it with First Look Company in Sura Shopping complex, Lagos.

The normal ultrasound said it was a girl but the 4d scan showed me clearly that it was a boy. I took photos as well.
