Senators kick as N4billion is budgeted for Patience Jonathan's project

The office of the First Lady is not known to the constitution, some say it's even illegal, but there's a N4 billion vote in the 2013 budget of the Federal Capital Territory for the First Lady Mission, which is Dame Patience Jonathan's project. The N4 billion is for building a mission office for the First Lady.

Senators who reviewed the FCT budget yesterday kicked against the expenditure; Senator Babajide Omoworare said:
The Women Development Centre is there for the use of the First Lady to do anything she wants to do and I'm not aware that there's a First Ladies Mission in the US where we copied the presidential system of government. There's no such building in South Africa or Ghana that is our neighbour
Senator Babjide Ojudu said:
I'm worried and I hope that those of us who are leaders in this country do not take the youths for granted. How can we vote N4 billion for office of the First Lady? I just pray and hope that this does not get to the public because if it does, we are in trouble. Nigerians will not forgive us for appropriating money for an office that doesn't exist in Nigeria. All of us sitting here must not allow this thing go through

KariShi by-pass to d township has been abandoned for over 2yrs now, because fewer accidents on nyayan-maraba road, but wit so much congestion. I understand GEJ's godfather or whoever is handling dat project. I want dem to kno dat d outskirts they abandon every year, are part of Abj, and these are areas where d work force recides, and they are talking bout 4b and 5b for some peti project. They wan rehabilitate prost for themselvs. Most monies voted for in d budget, meant for sattalite towns are not expended. I appreciate ur blog as I notice dat in a way, it impacts discipline on our govt. The youths are watching o, one day, their yam go don.

There is a ministry for women's affair that can be empowered to manage women and children issues. We must set strategies for appropriate solutions for the challenges we face as a nation.

All these is being done with our money. 111. There is something very important that President GEJ missed in his 2013 budget which is money to build more prisons. Mr. President, you should know that by now. Yes, we need more prisons cos; a lot of people gotta go away for a looooong time. Mr. President, if you can do that, Nigerians would love you and you would also love the country Nigeria.

  120. This woman's head needs to be examined. It is not my curses that will get her. It is the curses of suffering women, widows, orphans and small children. She will not rest. Even a revolution is not enough because it will just seem like a bunch of violent Nigerians got together to push her out. NOOOOO Her own punishment deserves to be divine. Nonsense. Allow. Build o. Eat 4 billion just for you. Useless human being, useless country. Not one positive thing has come out of this woman's mouth. Not ONE. Local bush meat.

  121. why doesn't this ever so gracious first lady donate from her own personal funds??! They may also have their hands dirty but at least these senators are saying some things are going too far. I mean N4bln is almost 17million pounds!!!! The queen herself dare not take that to "help" the country. You can revamp at minimum primary schools for that amount of money. You can build a state of the art hospital (especially as NGOs will donate if it is a public and not private enterprise). I mean seriously! These people are going too damn far!

    ReplyDelete
  122. If the bill made it to the floor of the senate you can bet its going to sail through and madam Pat will eventually get her money. As much as I respect the audacity n courage of Senator Babajide, I believe he is still Kicking because he is yet to be 'sorted' by the first lady. Once she paid a courtesy call on a couple or so of Senators with well stuffed briefcases, all forms of kicking will stop, thats 9ja for you, thats the way things work. GOD HELP US. Thanks Lindy for letting us know, we are watching...
