Hilary Clinton steps down as US Secretary of State

After over three decades in public service, Hilary Clinton has gracefully bowed out. The 65 year old former US First Lady stepped down as Secretary of State at the US State Department today after four years. Senator John Kerry succeeds her.

Hilary battled ill health in the last few months. From a nasty stomach virus, to exhaustion, severe dehydration, fall and a concussion that led to brief hospitalization when doctors discovered a blood clot near her brain.

Over the past 30 years, Hilary has served as the first lady of a state - Arkansas, the first lady of the country, a senator and Secretary of state. She was the first wife of a U.S. president to serve in a presidential cabinet and she traveled to more countries than any other secretary of state before her.112 countries. Will she return to public service? Let's wait and see...

  6. There remains a big question-mark as to whether she will decide to declare her candidacy in the next presidential elections following her ill-fated bid against President Barack Obama in 2008. Time shall tell.

  7. I dont even see why Nigeirans care. None of these western politicians have Africa's interest at heart. There are enough problems in Nigeria concerning Nigerian politicians that needs to be focused on.
I come to this blog to read Nigerian news since I obviously cant get that where I am.
    Just saying.

  20. I highly doubt if she will return because leaders over there have always been sincere with their words and I am thinking her decision might be influence by her doctors you know. Hardly can our leader resign here even at the brink of severe ill health. They prefer to die in position. Discover the Secret to losing weight and burning tummy fat

  24. She is a strong woman, a woman of dignity and honour...a woman that stood with her husband is times of difficulty and shame, a true mother and a legend.
I love her personality and her bravery. Most women won't dare go back to the senate or work as a secretary of state after becoming the first lady of america.
Wish her all the best in life.

  52. Hillary's done a great job as SoS. I don't think she'll go for President in four years time because she will be too old and not well enough to stand the distance and gruelling schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hillary was a good SoS. I do not think she'll go for President simply because she will be too old and possibly not in good health. Shame.
