Refugees take over UNIABUJA as school remains closed

The University of Abuja was shut down in November 2012 following students' protest over non-accreditation of some of their courses, and while students remain at home frustrated and wondering when the school will re-open, Fulani Herdsmen from neighboring villages have taken over some parts of the campus.

These refugees and their families have built makeshift tents close to the administrative area of the school and have been living there since late last year without disturbance. See another photo after the cut...

  1. what a shame it is to this country.the citadel of learning in the capital of our beloved country first-of-all runs and operates departments that has not been accredited, asif that is not enough allowed refugees to take over the campus as their abode.............all this happenin under the nose of a Ph.D holder as a president.

  2. Gosh! This is so annoying. Those facilities will become dilapidated fast enough and nothing will be done about it. Why must we watch till things begin to decay in this country? SMH

    1. D skl property(Perm site)is massive, yea, moutains & all. It's not fenced. A sparse fulani settlement has always been der,bt dey live in d distance.dey r permitted 2 walk their cows & graze bt only in certain areas. Now dey are living ever so freely, even tents? LoL dey can't get in d halls or damage dem though. D infasture is quite solid & nice,& d fulani's der are basically peaceful. Trust me d fulani thing is a minute issue. D problem of dat skl is its awful awful internal system. Poor handeling of results is jst one example.

  7. These Fulanis will wage war I'd there is an attempt to chase them away. The longer they stay, the harder for government. More so, Uniabuja must really be a useless school if Fulanis can just camp like that. No security, nothing. I'm wondering if such will happen to UI,Ife,UNILAG

Dat should be the supposed' main campus, its not surprising cos that place has been under construction since early 2000,when Laraba Gambo was still the VC.till this moment, theyv not finished, every VC will come use the project to embezzle money from govt.
its a big shame that the seat of power cannot boast of a standard Univ campus.smh.
