Nigerian designer Shaun Akanbi stabbed to death in the UK

Nigerian born UK based designer, Shaun Akanbi, founder of Billy Boyce clothing line was stabbed to death in his London flat on Saturday December 22nd.

The 26 year old budding designer also known as Moshood Abiola Akanbi, was found dead after police forced their way into his flat in Cedar Lodge, Exeter Road, Kilburn, around 4.45pm following concerns about his welfare.

A postmortem gave the cause of death as multiple stab wounds to the torso.

On January 4, 2013, police arrested two men aged 19 and 20 on suspicion of murder. The following day, Achraf Jandara, 20 of Laing House, Comber Grove, Camberwell, south London, was charged with murder. The other suspect was released on bail.

Tributes have been left on the official Facebook page for Billy Boyce.

  24. Go and see his facebook page. You will see how rich and talented he was in London. People can plan to kill in the UK over envy alone.

It is not like in Naija where we admire talented people and want to know them personally.

Some Kids of Nigerian parentage have joined the West Indian cults and gangs that are famous for such murders.

RIP, I just hope this is not the beginning of killing off new talents in London. Before knife and gun crimes were mostly associated to secondary schools.

  26. Pls people, stop saying things like what a "lost" what does that mean? The correct thing is "what a loss"
Yes, @ anonymous 4.09p. My Gaydar saw it immediately too. That aside (which is non-consequential), that's a terrible thing to happen. His work looked so high end and i'm sure he would have had a bright future in designing. I hope it wasn't a hate crime

  27. There is a lot of violent against blacks in London, it needs to be checked. This is an issue of diplomatic resolution.

  30. Linda dear,i have nothing against Bonario but please try and be posting his comments once,ℓ☺ℓ.. Back to the story,This is what happens when the government has Little or no value for its citizens. These people know that no matter the number of Nigerians they kill abroad, wether or not they're guilty of anything, the Nigerian Government will do absolutely nothing about it. In developed countries, its different.. RIP man#sad much

  31. It depends on where THESE Nigerians live abroad and the people they hang out with....the Kilburn high road I used to know in London(if its the same one mentioned above) does not seem like the best place to stay as a foreigner abroad(I don't live in London, but I have visited many
times).Lagos is not a very safe place to stay either. No CCTV,no proper police protection.....umh!I don't think so.

Very funny comment. Have the Nigerian politicians finished curbing the hostilities from Nigerians to fellow Nigerians in Nigera?

UK Stabs,USA gunshots,Naija all the above plus,Boko Haram,Militants,ArmedRobbers,RitualKillers,Kidnappers,Thiefs,Regular deaths from car accidents,Police stray and intended bullets etc etc.
No vex but UK and USA are 100 times safer for Nigerians!!

    RIP to the guy!

  49. The reason why there are many unresolved hate crime in the UK is because of the system which immigrants have penetrated and abused.

The police, council and schools work together and are powerful. Most police officers will never allow their kids to face prosecution. It is a fact.

The council can be used to put families in mystery. I have seen all three establishments frustrate innocent people. It is now who you know.
