CAF dismisses Egyptian ref who officiated Nigeria vs Zambia match

The 36 year old Egyptian referee who officiated the match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Chipolopo of Zambia on Friday January 25th, has been dismissed from the on-going 2013 Africa Cup of Nations as a result of poor officiating.

Ghead Grisha awarded a controversial penalty to Zambia in the 85th minute which enabled them draw level in the group C match.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF immediately sent a protest letter to the Confederation of African Football, CAF, asking the football governing body to look into the questionable call by Grisha.

A top official of CAF said today that Grisha 'has been sent home. He will have no further action at this Cup of Nations. His decisions did not tally with best practices of the refereeing profession and we would not allow anyone to start re-writing the rules of the game here'

  5. CAF shd not just send him home from AFCON 2013, that's not enough. His refereeing rights shd be withdrawn! Most likely, he might have been sorted by his pay masters cos he has achieved his purpose to deny Nigeria of that victory.

  29. I nearly broke my TV screen on acct of that penalty kick n final tie up wit d eagles, I lost appetite d whole day. Dat Ref is a Big Bastard. "Gud Riddance 2 a bad Belle Ghead." bt d match shld be awarded 2 d eagles joor. So annoying dat a learner was brought in 2 officiate in such a crucial match.

  31. The ref was wrong, but the Super Eagles weren't clinical in their finishing. If they had scored more goals that controversial penalty would be inconsequential. I wish them all the best in their last match

  32. Is this dstv playback or what? The match has already been played that's why its good to make good use of ur chances

  33. the points won't come back. Useless to us now.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Whatever; truth is we still have ourselves to blame. If the Super Eagles had played well they would have put the game beyond Zambia and an ojoro penalty wouldn't have hurt us. They should just take responsibility and improve instead of bitching an blaming the ref!

  42. All them coaches re just against nigeria n I 1da y. Even the referee that officiated nigeria's first match was baised. He was just lucky that attention wasn't drawn to him. Serves that referee right but its still medicine after death. If only they will withdraw dat goal n award nigeria the winner of that match.

  43. Let's face it nigerians, any time we fail.ders always someone we look 2 put d blame on especially wen it has 2 do wit d super eagles cos some ppl are tryin 2 protect deir faces from public backlash...yes d ref committed a blunder in dat decision, but if d super eagles played well and wer 3 goals up at d time, dat decision wldnt hav mattered. let's liv sentiments aside,so far d super eagles hav bin an apology 2 watch, dey play as if dey lack experience and neva trained 2geda.our first match was appalling, second even worse.dnt b shocked if against ethiopia, dey draw again. ppl shld focus on d administration, not d players cos dats wer d fault is from.d fact is,cos we dnt hav a gud FA,dats why no one fears us,d politics of d game is far ahead of us.i situation in which as big as naija, only one lines man we hav in d competition, anybody can do wat dey like wit us.#GBAM

  51. i am of the same view with meka 10:44. the ref goofed yes..but on our own part we have a long way to go in terms of football administration in the country. the players too are playing below expectation and the coach has not impressed with his game play strategy and tactics. the big boss i would suggest should show the players videos of barcelona games and they would definitely learn one or two things by the time they watch at least 20 of such videos. the fastest way to be successful is to copy or emulate success. barcelona is definitely a successful football club. we can replicate same or at least try to
