Arepo explosion: Bodies of vandals float on creeks

NNPC pipeline was vandalized on Saturday January 12th at Arepo in Ogun state, barely a month after it was fixed after it was vandalized in August 2012. The vandalism led to an explosion that killed several people.

Bodies of four of those people were found yesterday Sunday January 13th floating in the swamp around the explosion site in Arepo. The bodies had floated up from the water, while several bodies are suspected to be inside the swamp.

The explosion occurred according to an eye witness, Sunday Reuben (pictured above, who is now late) after two of the vandals reportedly engaged in a heated argument which led to one of them shooting into the air with his rifle. Bullets shot from the rifle hit the ruptured pipeline and led to the explosion. Several died, many arrested.

  4. Saddening graphic images here, how sad... People using their own hands to call death closer through vandalism, as much as I would want to blame these people I hold back my tongues of slur, its unemployment that's causing all this, the government should provide more for communities where the nation's gold is being gotten from. Its just like being hungry and seeing food being conveyed in your face on a daily basis without any coming to you

These vandals were being greedy in the place, then they become even greedier in the process of committing an offense driven by greed. Imagine, they started arguing ,probably about who gets what..SMH!!! SERVES THEM RIGHT!!!

  50. ILLITERATE FOOLS DON'T THEY KNOW THAT SHOOTING IN THE AIR OR ANY FLAME FROM ANYTHING WOULD CAUSE AN EXPLOSION. GOOD HAVE MERCY ON MY PEOPLE FOR IGNORANCE IS A DISEASE.

  51. Nigeria should be listed amongst the dumbest nations, who fire a gun next to Gas ? jesus christ even a retard knew better than that... there should be a law that no one can drop out of school.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Nigerians will blame government for everything. Even bare-faced criminality like this is still blamed on government. At the end of the day, we all claim to be Christians and Muslims. Does the Bible or Koran says one is free to steal because he is poor or has no job? People commit huge sums of money to fund a robbery operation and justify it with unemployment. Why not use the money that is spent on vehicles, guns, dynamites, etc to start some good business? What happens after they succeed in an operation? Do they invest the money legally or wisely? The answer is no. They lavish it about and go back to rob again and again until they are caught then they and their sympathizers blame it on government. It is so sad but the more we intellectuals give excuses for criminals and criminality, the more we will have criminal acts.
