65 deportees from UK, Spain arrive Nigeria

Sixty-five Nigerians were on Friday deported from some European countries, an official of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria said in Lagos.

The FAAN official, who pleaded anonymity, revealed this to the News Agency of Nigeria at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport’s cargo section in Lagos.

The source noted that the returnees came from Spain, Bulgaria, Romania and the United Kingdom.
The source said the deportees, who arrived at 7.40am, were made up of 48 males, 12 females and five children.

He explained that they were arrested for allegedly having expired documents and being illegal aliens.
The source said that eight of the deportees, including three females, were deported for alleged criminal offences.

He added that the eight persons were immediately arrested on arrival by policemen and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department, Nigerian Police Force, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, in a Toyota pick-up with registration number “Ontario AZKC-549.”

A NAN correspondent who was at the airport, reported that the five male deportees initially resisted arrest, but were later persuaded to cooperate by the policemen.

  20. I love visiting this blog a lot but I believe you understand that people have rights too; right to privacy. Revealing such intricate details eg the plate numbers, the photos is unfair to these people. Lets respect them please, being deported is nothing to celebrate, or laud at least imagine what they must be going through.

  35. I don't get it so do all these european countries have the same police force and immigration departments that they would deport all these people from different jurisdiction at the same time. So it means they all kept these men, women and children probably longer than they should and flew them from one location to the next before bringing them to naija. Okay we need the inhumane society or wateva they are called to look into this especially the children involved and how they were treated.

  53. I have heard so many hypocrites condemning these deportees, immigration started from the beginning, the first immigrants on earth are Adam and eve, from there Noah and others, but from the Bible Abram who later became Abraham was blessed by God for obeying his instruction to leave his family in Ur in Chaldea in this modern day Iraq to the land of Canaan, before leaving his people and land Abram’s father Tera was a very wealthy and famous man, but still he left.

Forgive me for quoting from the bible , I believe that it is the most read book on earth, that is why I took my examples from there.

Why are you condemning a traveler? Because he/she is unfortunate to be deported, my Igbo proverb says that a wide traveled fellow is wiser than a grey haired old fellow in the village. While English people say that traveling is a part of education.

Traveling is never only when you leave the shore of the continent, any trip you make outside your village and town is traveling. Most of you guys who claim to love Nigeria more than the President are not even in your villages, some are in another states.

If traveling is a crime why didn’t you stay in your villages? We learn a lot through traveling, good, bad and ugly things through traveling.

What I would have loved to hear from you guy are these, how many of these corrupt officials in Nigeria’s children have been deported from their countries of residences? How many of them are being refused visas by these embassies/high commissions like the way they refuse visas to other Nigerians? Why are the families of the indicted, prosecuted and jailed corrupt officials still living in their western residential countries till now without being disturbed or harassed? Why do the western countries accept the Nigeria illegal laundered funds but reject the Nigeria illegal immigrants? Why do they only deport the illegal immigrants but save guard the illegal funds?

Western people migrated to Africa, killed, maimed, robbed, Molested, enslaved and exploited Africa, but went back to their countries and introduced harsh immigration policies to prevent us from entering their countries. Who gave them visas to enter Africa continent then? Why immigration is so much restricted to the Africans mostly Nigerians now?

These are the few things I expected to hear from you guys, but instead you are here condemning and criticizing the deportees, as if, if you guys have the opportunity to travel out you will decline. Immigration is a personal choice; it has a lot of causes depending the situation one finds him/herself. Anyone who is well placed or comfortable should not condemn others who made their choices, because all of us will not do the same job, be at the same place and have the same aims and ambitions. Nigerians have been ruled beyond keeping quiet to something that doesn’t matter or deserve to be worried about. It is better to try and fail that never tried. They have gained more knowledge and experiences; it is left to them now to decide on what next in their respective lives.

My brothers and sisters you are all welcomed to your country, take heart, sit down think very well for your next actions, I wish you all very good luck in your future endeavors.

    God bless you all.
